Overall average
Nothing I really didn’t like but nothing that excited me either. Several washouts across the fairways. Greens were a little thin and fast. Bunkers appeared to have a lot of clay since they were orange.
Still fun and entertaining however.
Great course and great people
Came up to the Dothan area for a weekend golf trip with some buddies. Decided upon Dothan National and very happy I did. The staff in the club house are the nicest people I’ve encountered at a golf course which really helped set the tone for what would be a very fun day on very fun course. Speaking of the course, it was in pretty good shape minus a few patches on some select greens, but for $30 it blew away same priced courses in the Tampa area where I’m from. I actually collect a logo ball from a course from every state I play in, and since this was my first Alabama course I wanted to get one in the pro shop. They were out at the time, but the nice woman behind the counter took down my address and actually mailed me a ball (for free, mind you) to my Florida residence. Can’t say enough good things. Exactly what a “cheaper” course should be and others should strive to be.
Love this track
Best bang for your buck out of the Dothan courses and great layout. Really love the challenge this course provides
Best course this trip
The course was in very good condition. The greens had been sanded the day before and were a little slow, but putted very true. Not a ton of water, but enough to make you think about it. Several fairway ang greenside bunkers which always makes things interesting. Played the white tees except a few of the holes we moved up to gold to make the overall distance a couple hundred yards shorter. Getting older makes some of the longer par 4s difficult to reach in regulation. It was a long drive from PCB, but worth it.
Solid conditions
Definitely doing some work on the greens. They have firmed up some since the big rains.
Great layout, great value
Greens definitely need to be rolled. Holes are raised and push putts away the last few inches. An indication greens have not been rolled in a while. Other than that, no major critiques. Always a fun and challenging course to play.
Never Again
Sorry I hate giving reviews but I needed to talk about this one. I live in Dothan, Alabama and there are not many courses you can play so I try to support the smaller courses. This is my second time trying to play this course. The first time me and my daughter tried to play we did not make it threw five holes because the course was in awful shape. I did not comment on that one. So today I tried to play this course again and I must say the course looked 100% better. The problem was the grounds crew . Today it was wet with a overcast and I was the only person the course. I teed off at 7am . I get to the 2nd hole and there is a ground keepers riding on green. I'm thinking he will move when I hit my approach shot NOPE . He continued to ride on green even as I was putting out. So I just was like ok and went on the next hole. Then I get to hole number 5 the same guy is up by green. I am 78 yards out. The guy continues just to ride while I am standing waiting to hit up. This is not a exaggeration needless to say I never finished my round. I packed it up and left. Never again will I set foot on the grounds of DOTHAN NATIONAL GOLF CLUB.
Always delivers!
Fairways and greens in really good shape. Playing from the blue tees really ups the challenge on a large majority of the holes. A great value to play.
Tough but great course.
Not an easy course, but will definitely improve your game. Overall great wxperience.
The lay out is really fun to play. Greens are really slow. Grass height on tee boxes are as high as rough. With all that said the lay out from tee to green is really outstanding and fun to play. Could be incredible if some more money was put into course. For 35 dollars was well worth it.
Dothan National A+++
Hats off to the crew this course has greatly improved over the past few years in course conditions. As of July 2020 I would rate it the best course in Dothan. Greens are extremely receptive and everything in great shape. Layout and experience is better than the highlands/RTJ to me, Especially when you consider value. Keep up the awesome work
Very Enjoyable Course
We live in Florida, but come to Alabama to play this course. Can't beat the rates we get on Golf Now. Nice course, and friendly staff.
Great conditions...
Recent rains have really helped the fairways. A few greens a little soggy and slower, but overall course is playing really well.
Better than I had hoped
I have no complaints about this course. It was a lot of fun to play and was challenging. Some of the holes looked easy but looks can be deceiving. Had a great time and will definitely play it again.
