Course is improving
I played this course because I got a really good deal through golf now. When I went online at the last minute to book the round, it appeared as though it would be pretty empty at the course because almost every time slot was available. However, when I got to the course, it was quite a bit more busy than expected. There must be a lot of walk up people who just so up to play rather than booking online so keep that in mind. Because of that I was behind a 4 some of newer players who were dreadfully slow. Don't mind people learning to play the game, just would like them to learn to play a little faster. On the course conditions I would say at the moment they are average for a course of this price range. The greens were furry and slow. It looks like they are working on getting the grass to grow in and had not cut or rolled the greens in a while. Having said that, most of the greens did look pretty good. A couple of them had some rough areas still but overall they were filled in and when they are cut and rolled, should be very good to play. Most of the fairways were is decent condition with only a few being pretty rough and sparse. On those few fairways I would say just make an agreement among friends before your round to allow finding a patch of grass to move to and hit from, otherwise you might be hitting off of dirt. Would I play here again? Yes, but only if I could get a good price again. I don't think it would be worth full price charged with the current conditions. The driving range is a bonus at this course however, as they have a self vending ball machine that you can use your debit card to access and the range has the top tracer technology for tracking your shots or playing games if you desire that. If you're just wanting to practice the range is great for that. They have a concession counter at the range as well, but it was not open at the time I went.
Not as good as it used to be
Evey year when we head down to the beach we always stay the night in dothan and I will play dothan national the next morning. I always thought it was a good value course and in good enough condition. This year it was in much worse conditions. Lots of dead grass on greens and they were fuzzier than chewbacca. Overall conditions were generally just worse than years prior. Going to have to spend the extra money and play RTJ next year. Hopefully this is a one off but I doubt it's going to be.
Improving, but still a long way to go
The course conditions are slightly better, but honestly only had one way to go and that was up. With my Golfnow points and the member rates, we played for $10 each. Which is the only way I would ever play the course. The best thing there and what we go there for a lot is their range with TopTracer. They have an open bar with snacks abd you can order cooked food that they will briom the hotel kitchen. The pizza is surprisingly good. They play music after 4pm and it is a fun time.
Course has lost it's luster
Fairways were average at best - greens with exception to 9 & 18 were slow & poorly maintained. Value was excellent, but probably will not book again as Indian Springs in Mariana is a better maintained course.
RA
When I arrived at the course, I was informed that a high school tournament would be starting at the same time I was booked to play. I was informed that they would have a shotgun start. I started before they did but when I made the turn, there was no way I was going to endure that, so I only played 9 holes. To say the least, I was not happy.
Slow Greens
Nice layout. Sparse tee boxes but fairways were greener then last year. Most of the greens were in bad condition. This course could be awesome with a little work. Staff was okay.
Awesome staff
Awesome staff and great course it’s greens where in rough shape that’s the reason for the down ratings on the course conditions
Needs mowing every time I play.
Beautiful property, great layout, needs some work. Great value. Mowing always needed.
