Oak Harbor Golf Club
About
Situated just 25 minutes outside of New Orleans, Oak Harbor Golf Club is one of the area's most popular courses. The course is a challenging test without being too intimidating for beginners. It offers risk-reward holes that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. Lee Schmidt, who worked closely with Pete Dye, designed the golf course, and incorporated many of Dye's signature features into the design. Sculpted mounding and native grasses frame the generous landing areas and you'll even find Dye's trademark railroad ties framing the greens. There are also several lakes that come into play throughout. Oak Harbor Golf Club's seventh and 15th holes are particularly notable for their intimidating tee shots over water. If you strategize carefully, the four par 5s provide some birdie opportunities but you'll have to carefully navigate through a combination of water, traps, and undulations.

Great course
I play here around 3-5 times a year
Love the layout, like the price
But why can’t they fill those holes?
I’m sure there is a good reason
Fairway holes
Holes in the middle of the fairway are really annoying. I really wish they would fix that problem. Nothing worse than loosing a ball that you hit down the center of the fairway not to mention the danger factor.
Nice layout - good greens
Has nice practice area, full range, short game shots, large putting area. Friendly staff.
The course is not well defined specifically going to hike five and nine. Several tee boxes were bad, need to be filled and firmed up. The greens were nice and consistent. Water comes in play several times if you’re first time playing here pay attention when shaping ball. It’s dry so you’re going to get an unpredictable amount of runout.
All in all very nice facility.
Would recommend and play again.
Beautiful greens, nice practice areas
Was very impressed with terrific greens albeit faster than I'm accustomed, which a positive for me. Every green afforded perfect roll. If I missed a putt, it was my fault. Nice practice areas for putting and driving. Only negatives were fairways were signifantly browning and we quickly ran into a 5some slowed us down till hole 10 when they split
Nice except for…..
First time visiting this course. Overall it was a fun/challenging course but it needs some work along with the golf carts. The golf carts are junk, you never know if they will even crank up or if they will make it all the way around the course. Next up is the fairways… MAJOR sinkholes (some of them marked, some of them not) throughout all of the fairways. You could smash a great drive and lose your ball to one of these Swahili holes. The majority of them are very deep. I would hate to see someone accidentally step in one or drive a cart in one not paying attention. Other than those two things the course was nice and the greens were excellent. I paid $28 for a full round cart included, so its alright considering.
Review the course, not your experience
The only important items in reviewing a course is your opinion of the layout [design] & course conditions & proper function of carts. NOT important are pace of play, dispute with other golfers, lack of food/beverages except water on the course, and if you think you paid too much. Most important is turf conditions...of greens, fairways, rough, & tees.
