Good Course
I was very happy with my experience golfing here today. The course was in good condition overall; however, the greens needed some work. I was also pleasantly surprised they allowed my 6 year old son to ride along with me in the cart for free.
Disappointed
I had been wanting to play Antler Creek for a number of years, so I was very much looking forward to this round of golf. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed with the condition of this course. The Colorado Springs area has experienced considerable rain over the last couple of months, but this course did not show it. The greens were inconsistent, slow, and bumpy. The fairways had many bare spots. The sand traps were just horrible...some were more like cement. There has been no maintenance to these sand areas in a long time. I would not play this course again!
Great course
Very easy to use the app and set up the tee time, took my son and didn’t want to be crowded, the app let me pick a time that was wide open and we had a great time with no one pushing us to play faster.
Great experience
Two Putt Rule
So sad to see a course crumble. The layout is fine, the location is perfect. The course has fallen into disrepair. Hopefully the owners will figure out how to turn things around, because it really could be a nice track again with a little TLC.
Course started slow with the rough greens but everything is coming together for a great golf season
Long but manageable
This course is laid out beer well. It's challenging on every hole but still keeps it fun.
I would recommend to anyone.
Poor condition
Antler Creek used to be one of my favorite courses. Unfortunately the condition of the course is terrible. I understand that weather is a factor but poor course maintenance is also.
Course is hurting
I don't know what is going on but the course conditions have gotten really bad. Fairways are sparce and the greens are worse. Barely enough grass to putt on. Ball bounced all over the place. Won't go back until I hear they have improved.
Stay Away
I booked this course because it seemed like a good deal and wanted to try a new course in the front range. We had a snowstorm hit on Monday with 8 " of snow so I was surprised they were open to play on Friday. There was a ton of water and snow banks on the course plus it was cart path only so the course was barely playable. The course has not come through the winter in good shape, the greens are terrible so good luck making a putt. I hope with a coupe of months time, the course will improve but for now I would stay away. I booked this reservation through Golf Now and couldn't get a refund so we played and found out they discounted the rounds due to the playing conditions so I way over paid. Many of the courses in the front range are in great condition so read the reviews carefully before booking a new course!
Horrible
This is quite possibly the worst golf course in the history of golf courses. I can't explain how bad the conditions were. $55 green fees for at best, playing pasture golf. I paid for 18 and quit after 9. I quit putting after 4 because you couldn't hit a putt without massive bumps. It is terrible.
Horrible
I have worked Nationwide in construction for 30 years and had the opportunity to play many courses. This course has to be the worst course in the history of golf. The fairways were terrible, there were spots dead center of the fairway that was like hitting out of a pasture. The greens, honestly, had bumps and gaps that were so bad you couldn't hit a straight putt. $55 dollars!!!! I can't explain how bad this was.
Very disappointing
Course did winter well at all. Fairways and greens very spotty. Course is not for high handicap players. Most spend way to much time looking for their ball resulting in at least a five hour round.
Hot deal only type course
Use hot deal for cheaper prices. The course was in bad shape but that was most likely due to Colorado weather lately. Overall the military courses I have played recently are in way better condition.
Terrible course
Total rip off- payed 55 dollars
for a course that is worth maybe
2 dollars - course conditions terrible,
smelly and not manicured at all.
Rough Conditions and Maintenance
Took an hour exactly to play 4 holes. Although not common it’s ridiculous there is no Marshall on weekends in sight. But the true fact was the absolute horrible conditions. I played 3 local courses in the previous week and they are 100% better, this is the worst track I have seen in years. It’s way behind. I took some phots of the fairway, the fairway! Also the bunkers have gravel, not sand and are not racked or dragged. It’s a sloppy unkept mess
Bravo on improvements
Have played the course a few times this year and the grounds crew has done a good job improving the course. Tees, fairways and greens were much better than last time I played. Will play it again if the weather holds. Good job.
Great course, poor pin placement
We played on a weekday and the course was in good shape considering the harsh winter. One person remarked that there had been great improvement over the past month because they lost some of the course to winter kill.
We stopped by the 19th for lunch and the food is great. I'd have lunch here any day I play. Friendly staff in the clubhouse and at the 19th.
I thought the conditions were good and the course was well maintained and seems to be on the mend. The greens were rolling fairly consistent, true, and reasonably fast.
I only gave 3 stars - course is recovering but not 100% yet. If it were pristine, this would be a top pick for me - keep up the good work.
My complaint is the pin positions for the day - stupid. Really stupid. I can understand 1, maybe two pin placements on a slope, but there were at least 8 pins located in ridiculous positions on the side of a slope in the green. If I'm 4' above the hole and just get the ball moving, I shouldn't be faced with a 10' putt coming back up hill that rolls back to my feet when I miss it. This is a hinderance to pace of play and frustrating to good putters.
The USGA has guidelines for pin placement, I suggest the super review that with whoever is cutting holes:
An area two to three feet in radius around the hole should be as nearly level as possible and of uniform grade. In no case should holes be located in tricky places, or on sharp slopes where a ball can gather speed. A player above the hole should be able to stop the ball at the hole.
Your greens have great places for pins and you should use them.
