Horrible Staff / Good Course
The course is well designed and challenging. However, the head pro is extremely rude and lazy ( I think his name is Tyler). As you walk into the pro shop you are greeted by a rude/unfriendly person who you think is just hired help. Then you find out he is the head pro. Can't understand why the owners would keep him employed. He is such a NEGATIVE reflection. Recommend the course, but make sure you are ready to be greeted by an unprofessional head pro.
Nice for match play; bring your sand game
You always hear about how long the course is (8,000+ from the tips), but plenty of tee options.
Challenging course both off the tee and around the greens. This makes it great for match play and pretty bad for stroke play. More than the distance, what detracts from playability is bunkers pinching the landing areas and tightly fronting several greens. If you're intimidated by sand, this is not your course. I was in 7 traps.
The day I played (warm winter day, breezy), the pins were tucked on several holes and not very accessible, especially because the greens were firm and the winter grass thin. The course is far enough from the mountains that wind is almost always a factor, but the design doesn't favor a ground game. Guessing it plays better in the summer.
With heroic carries and plenty of lateral trouble, it's a fun course for match play, a frustrating course for stroke play. Your card will get blown up somewhere. My playing partner was a 5 handicap who shot in the mid-90s from the back tees. But he eagled the 667-yard 7th, which was worth the price of the Hot Deal.
Course has a nice practice area. Pace of play was good for a Saturday during off-season.
Great Fall Day!
Early afternoon tee time--50-60 degrees and little wind. Course can be a little rough in the Spring, but not so now. Warmed up on the grass driving range which was in immaculate condition--mirrored the fairways and tee boxes on the course. Greens were in great shape as well. Have always loved that this course features so many different tee boxes--as my age and handicap have grown (now 65 and 20), I'm still able to enjoy the challenge of playing it. Played the yellow tees (66.9/118) and shot just below my handicap. Staff was great and, given the scarcity of players (their loss), just told me to go when I was ready. Looking forward to getting out again before the cold weather arrives.
Where's the green?
This is a pretty, long course. It has great views and surprising marshy features. It has many hard turns and a fair amount of sand traps. Well laid out amongst the neighborhood. Fairly tight necks after the tee shots but doable. A bit of over irrigation the day I played so skinned a few shots. Great ad lib company for the day.
Great Course
I had my best round of the year here, 2 birdies and 4 pars!
Antler creek
Loved it... will pay this course many more times... challenged by the gauntlet... holes 9 thru 12
Great Course
The course was great. The front was for big drives & the back is for strategy...
The green were good except for the part 3s which had over 50 ducks/geeses...
The lace was slow due to group ahead constantly looking for there balls...
Staff was great.
The bunkers was fill with stoney sand (gravel to me) Provides was torn up falling in bunker and rolling of drive... The green stuff growing in bunkers did not protect (haha)....
All & all great c ourselves got a 82 on blues so will go to gold next time now that I know how to play it...
Great course, Slow play
Played on a Sunday morning. Was extremely slow.
Didn't even get to finish entire round as it took 5 hours to play 13 holes.
Course marshalls should manage slower players better.
Overall nice course. Plays long. Greens were in great condition.
Enjoyed the Round
Course is very Fair if you play the correct tees based on you Handy Cap or playing abilities. Play the forward tees igf you can't break 90.
It's so long...
Fun course, but keep it in the fairway! Staff interaction was just fine. Course was in fairly good condition. All the bunkers were hard as cement, and some had vegetation growing. It's apparent that they have not been cared for in some time. For the time of year the rest of the course was in good condition. I will return again.
Challenging course
Course layout is challenging. If not a lower handicap you will find this course difficult to play. Pace of play was slow due to golfers spending too much time looking for lost golf balls. No sign of a ranger to keep the pace of play going. Fairways and greens in good shape. Only negative is the condition of the bunkers. They have been neglected with many growing weeds and being compacted. Overall nice day and good course. Will play again when in the area and would recommend.
Golf Round Ruined by Unfriendly Staff
Wanting to see if I can play an hour early, I called to ask if there was any empty spot available. This unfriendly fellow simply said that that's not possible because I reserved the round through GolfNow.com. I told him that other golf courses had no problem accommodating such request. He said not at his course. When I got there, I was not only informed that we'd have to play the back nine twice due to aeration going on on the front nine, but we noticed that no one was playing in front of us or behind us. This unfriendly fellow simply did not want to accommodate the request simply because he didn't want to. He was so unpleasant to deal with that we decided not to return to this place. Don't need to have a pleasant day ruined by a morose personnel.
Fun, if you've got the game
Fortunately, I had one of my best ballstriking days. Otherwise, you're going to need a lot of balls. Lots of forced carries, small landing zones and high natural vegetation. Pace of play would have to be a nightmare at busy times. Most of the views are blocked by nearby homes, but there are a couple of nice views of Pikes Peak. A little hard to find the course without GPS (not well marked). Too many of the sprinkler heads don't have a yardage.
For accomplished golfers only
Even from the middle tees this course is very challenging and should not be played by anyone with a 15 or higher handicap or short hitters. There are some wide fairways and good sized greens, but almost every tee shot requires a decent carry over wetlands and some landing areas are very tight. Most fairways are lined by wetlands or waste areas so many opportunities to lose your shots. If you miss hit or your line is off you will be penalized, sometimes severely. Was playing behind a group which included a beginner and it was brutal watching them lose shot after shot. If you are a medium to long hitter who keeps the ball in play it's an excellent challenge but otherwise try a different course.
Great course
Course was in beautiful condition . Greens where smothe and true . Fairways where wide and in great shape . Greats are huge make you deel good for hittinng GIR . Will defiantly be going back .
Definately not a beginner course
This course was outstanding. The gauntlet (holes 9-13) are justified in title of the hardest holes in Colorado. The rough was "lost golf ball" rough. If you could find your ball, you have eagle eyes (or you stepped on it). Staff was very friendly and got us out promply for our tee time. The pace was a little slow, finishing the 18 in a little over 4 hours and 20 minutes. Didn't help that we had a typical Colorado Thunderstorm while we stood on hole 2...the wind got so bad we couldn't even swing our club for fear of being blown over. Then 15 minutes later...it's cleared up and blue skies.
