California Golf Course
About
The California Golf Course sits on land that slopes gently and offers a nice view of the Ohio River; however, this course ain't just pretty to look at, but laid out to play in a manner that will test seasoned golfers and welcome novices to the friendly golf course where the trees are old growth.
California Golf Course provides 18 holes of par-71 golf over 6,227 yards. A round of golf kicks off on a par-4 hole that plays to 367 yards from the Blue tees. Because this is one of Cincinnati's longer municipal golf courses, power golfers will appreciate the chance to open up their games a bit more, with about a third of the holes measuring over 400 yards from the Blue tees, including a pair of par-5 holes, the second and ninth holes.
As the California Golf Course is a municipal golf course, expect low rates, and those who can swing a round of golf during the workweek can expect them to be even lower.

Awesome
We got off a little late because of the rain but didn’t really experience any delays. The course is in great shape, the rough around the green was a little thick which made it challenging which was great. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for fun and a challenge.
Good Place to Play
I have always enjoyed playing California. The course overall is in good shape. They are renovating the restrooms so you have to use a “big” outside portable restroom . . . (which was in great shape and clean).
For some reason, they aerated the greens on the course. With an early morning start . . . that made putting more difficult during the front nine (due to the sand sticking to the ball). Nevertheless, it was fun playing the course.
Course was in good shape minus the greens being recently irradiated and sanded making it difficult to get a true role when putting.
Think twice about walking it, especially pushing a cart!
I had a rude awakening pushing a cart on the course.
For a short par course, it is strongly up and down hills.
The distance between 16 and 17 is simply ridiculous.
I would be willing to walk the front 9, but no way the back.
Great Value
Being one of the nicest days of the year so far, the course was packed. Pace was pretty slow, but hard to complain when you're on a beautiful course.
Hard to judge off course amenities since they are in middle of major renovation.
The port a potty at clubhouse was fine but ones on course needed some attention. I realize weather is issue to get trucks to them..
Still one of the best courses in Cincy!
Took a hiatus from gold for almost 12 years and decided to know the rust off at Cincinnati’s hidden gem….and it didn’t disappoint. Fairways and greens were in great condition. Tee box’s were a little beat but that’s no big deal to me.
Great little course to go to.
Decent course but very unfriendly staff
We arrived very early at 7am for our 2 person 18 hole tee time, which was 90$ total and then some for food and drinks. Not entirely too bad, we checked in and went to retrieve a cart and the cart guy told us he had us down with another 2 man that we didnt expect to be playing with, i checked in for a 2some at 7am but i was like ok that'll be fine. The people ended up being very nice to play with( a father and young son trying to get into the game again) so i didn’t think too much of it. As we made the turn we went for food and drinks and they didnt have to much to choose from but the food was good. We left for our back 9 after about 15 minutes of eating, we waited for a 3some group to tee off and get to the green before we took our shot, it was just me and my dad on the back 9 cause the other two went on while we ate. We hit our shot and both landed a bit left of the fairway under some trees. We were evaluating our shot through a bunch of trees and about 1 minute of sitting at our ball after our tee shot the ranger pulled up and started shoving rules and pace of play down our throat saying i was suppose to have my own bag which was not stated in the requirements on this app. He also asked if we had a tee time like 3 times and proceeded to tell us to keep up with the group ahead of us who were just now leaving the green. He was just very rude and stereotyping me and my dad based off of not looking the part of being there. The course was also entirely cart path only the day i was there, meaning shots far off the cart path took way longer. I will more than likely not come back and mainly for the staff member ruining my mood on the whole back nine and rushing my golf game when im not very good to begin with but we never took more than 8 shots per hole.
Great greens
This course is always in good shape greens roll true
Good mix of long and short
Course is always well maintained and not overbooked. Staff is amicable. This is my first choice for a tee time, in the tri-state area.
Busy day
Front 9 was slow, as a single peeled off from our tee time and played in between us and the group ahead. They all ducked out at the turn and we played the back in :90. Fairways are a little shaggy after all the rain, looking forward to playing here once it dries out.
Fair and fun
Played on a wet afternoon, the course absorbed the water well. Fair test, no gimmicks. Lots of elevation change, consider a push cart if you're walking. Spartan clubhouse, but the staff was great.
Good time
Played with a random pair. Pace of play ahead and begins us was perfect given a very busy day. Roughs off fairways were long in some places but greens played fair
