Worst shape I've ever seen it
This has been one of my favorite courses in the area for years and years, but I won't be back after this one.
First off, we didn't even get a cart until 20 minutes after our tee time. Secondly, the lace of play kn this course has gotten rediculous, with groups not letting people play thru when possible, ect. The worst part about it was the greens were absolute and total TRASH! I've play this course my whole life, and it's by far the worst I've ever seen them. If you had anything outside of a 6 foot putt you could forget it. I had multiple 15-20 footers that hit a minimum of 10 craters on the way to the hole. Also, burnt spots on every portion of every green.
This is my last trip!
The course has some interesting holes
Course in pretty good shape, however it had rained and it was cart path only and it makes for a long day if you don't hit near cart path. Should let you play 90° on holes that don't have drainage issues, and let ranger keep other holes path only. It's harder on older golfers to climb up hills back to cart. Still, had good time and will be back on a sunny day!
Management Change
Since the new management change this course went from a meh course to a course I would play any day! The course is undoubtedly one of the best in eastern Tennessee. The staff is friendly and the course is always in great shape. I recommend this course to anybody who wants to play!
Great public course but needs on course refreshments
I really enjoy playing the course. Really nice, and challenging layout. The only thing I would say is that there needs to be some water coolers on the course, or a cart person selling snacks and drinks. As hot as it's been this summer, there really needs to be some sort of option on the course if you don't stock up before the round.
Overall it's a great place, but just needs a little tweak.
Great Ppl and Great Golf Course
This place is a gem in the Tri-Cities… I have played this place now 5 times. The staff all the way around are super nice. The Rangers ride around and observe everyone’s play. So, I don’t way the place of play comments come up. Nice big putting area, driving range, and short game area. Beer is cold a fairly price.
The only thing I would like to see is some more food choices when you make the turn. Maybe add food trucks?
Great time
I had seen so many bad reviews of this course pertaining to the staff and I honestly don’t understand it. The guy in the pro shop checking in was so nice. Buddy, the starter, became one of my favorite people in about 10 minutes. Fairways and rough were very healthy, a couple of greens had spots where it looked like fungus had killed grass, it’s rained a lot lately though. I just moved back here from Washington and this course is the best I’ve found around Bristol that is public.
Actual course is great
Great layout, great greens, but the pace of play here is brutal. Played it twice now and it was over 5 hours both times. I recommend it and I will play it again, but be prepared that it can be an all day affair.
Frustrating Day of Golf
Hubby has played here a few times, my first time. I was 1 under through three and hubby was even.. Then the wheels fell off. We got to number 4 and realized we were 4 deep waiting. We had a foursome, 2 singles and then us. So from that moment on, it was at least 20 minutes to tee off on every hole. Bottom line - starter didn’t control the traffic and we paid the price. I called club house on number 7 when we were up to SIX deep but nothing changes. The course itself is in decent shape, greens are pot-marked badly with divots no one fixed. I really can’t give an honest assessment as I was so frustrated due to pace of play to even enjoy it. I won’t be back - my recommendation is go on a weekday…one of the members told us this was as bad as he’s ever seen it. Length of tee off to the truck: 6 hours, 15 minutes
Great Local Course
This was my first time playing at Crockett Ridge. The course was overall in great shape including the greens. The only negative was a couple of sand bunkers were in rough shape.
Well worth the visit
Visiting family in the area. Short notice, they were able to fit in our threesome. We had an excellent time and the course was in great shape for early spring. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. I’ll be back!
Great value
Take time and enjoy this course. I would have rated a 5 but it is still early and the fairways haven’t grown in.
Nice course, good value
This was the first time we've played this course in several years, since they've started offering Tee Off or Golfnow rates. It was in good shape but the fairways haven't greened up yet.
Potential
The course was in decent shape. A lot of renovations taking place in pro shop and on course. A lot of potential to be one of better course in area. We will see where make over takes it.
Pretty Good Overall
First of all, the greens were in really good shape and rolled well. There was a lot of work going on with most of the bunkers and a lot of them weren’t playable. We had a slow group of two people in front of us who seemed like they were purposely holding up play. We asked them about as nicely as we could to speed it up a little, but that just made it worse. Overall, we had a good time and would definitely go back.
