Water Gap Country Club has a dramatically hilly terrain that provides a unique and challenging round of golf. Since opening in the 1920s, the course has played host to a number of major tournaments. The links-style layout features lightning fast, undulating greens and seemingly receptive fairways that are fiercely guarded by mature trees. The elevation changes throughout the golf course guarantee that a flat lie will be hard to find and golfers will have to face several tricky blind shots. Water hazards come into play on five holes and there are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Water Gap is formidable test of your shot-making skills to say the least, but there are some birdie opportunities available. The signature hole is the par-3 fourth, which plays from an elevated tee to an elevated green.

THE WORST
A foursome of drunks laughing & talking out very loud
held up the entire back 9 & ruined a promising front 9 start of 36 for both me and my partner. It was a terrible experience to know that no one there cares about that kind of behavior on their golf course.
Enjoyable round
Great views. Fun course. Eagle on #9. Staff is helpful. Food in restaurant is good. Always an enjoyable outing.
Never again
If you like uneven lies, lots of crab grass, hard as a rock tee boxes, then play here
Relaxing day I enjoyed the course very much
I am a beginner I played wirh my husband.I enjoyed playing the course. Some very challenging shots for both beginner and experienced player. The course was not crowded because I think it was the hottest day of the year so I was able to take my time. A lot of down hill up hill so I got a good work out.The course is well maintained.
Fun track
Corse was in good condition overall. Greens were very nice. If you.are looking to play quickly this course isn't the place. I only say that because it is SHORT so there can be a lot of waiting with that said slower groups moved aside so for me it was not an issue. First time back in many years and I enjoyed it. Staff was great.
Need work
This is a typical mountain course. A lot of elevation change, blind shots and so on. I had no problem with the layout, but the conditions need to improve, before I could recommend. The tee boxes were terrible and the fairways need to be mowed short enough to be considered fairway. With that being said, the greens were country club quality and speed.
Better hit it straight.
Played here for the first time yesterday (and probably the last). The course itself is challenging (eg. tee shots), you need to be pretty precise off the tee. The problem is that on several holes you are punished for hitting what you perceive to be a "perfect" tee shot. Conditions on this tract were deplorable! The tee boxes were like literally hitting off of a gravel parking lot, fairways had very little grass with several burned out areas and the greens although very puttable were rock hard. Please understand that I am an 11 handicap and do understand how to play the game so i'm not just ranting and raving for no apparent reason. You'd think a course with this reputation would spend a little money to add some irrigation.
rolling hollow
love the terrain. Greens held, fairways are fair, and challenging
Great views, difficult for high handycaper
Nice course spectacular views! Had fun, lost some balls. Hitting straight where you aim is a must! tight fairways , woods, hills, uneven lies. They need some hole info? no info on score cards and no pictures of the holes at the tee areas. 3/4 blind tee shots? good luck if its your first time there! signs on cart path do not go back to tee area after passing this point so they are discouraging you to go look to see where the hole goes? left/right/water/woods/etc CRAZY! The course is very challenging enough no reason for no info on the holes? BRING EXTRA BALLS! That being said I would try it again and sure it would be more fun 2nd time since I know the course a little bit.Was told by another golfer course was in best shape he has saw it in 20 years!
Excellent Value - Classic Course design
Always enjoy playing Water Gap CC. Classic design rewards good shot making. Greens are deceiving because the slopes add speed - stay below the cup!!!
A couple of blind tee shots (#5, #13, #14) lend themselves to playing with someone who knows the course if you are there for the first time. Conditions have always been above average whenever I have played there (Spring, Summer or Fall).
Greens were rolling a bit slow in late May due to the early season / rainy conditions the previous week.
Up or down, never level
Been playing the Gap over 25 years. Just gotta keep coming back. It is a gem that will make you use every club. You will need to hit a five iron when the distance says a 7. When it's dry, look out, stay below the flag. Great variety of shots required. I call it mountain links. Fun place to have an outing. Played many two man scrambles here. They do a great job with dinners/banquets. You will lose golf balls if you are not a straight hitter. Play it in the fall for a real treat.
Worth your time...
I had played Water Gap CC a handful of years ago in the early part of the season, before everything had greened up. I had another opportunity on 06/29/15 and headed down from Binghamton NY with my golfing sidekick, Cousin Bob. It was overcast and cooler for late June, but we dodged the rain and had an enjoyable round. If you like mountain courses, then this is the place for you. There isn't a level lie to be had anywhere here, but it's a great experience in large part due to the scenery. This is a VERY pretty course. The carts were gas powered and in reasonable shape. The course was in good overall condition, with a few tee boxes and most cart paths needing work. The greens were nice and the bunkers sales and and mostly shale free. There are a few quirky holes with blind tee shots that will require a spotter. The only 2 par 3's on the course are both spectacular, as is the #5 tee box. We were happy with our experience and will be back in the near future. It was well worth the drive.
Average but worth a play for a low price.
First time I ever played the course but it was dirt cheap on Golf Now. The greens were in ok shape, tee boxes could really use some work. Cart paths are pretty awful.
The layout of some of the holes is a little strange with some blind tee shots. Some people may or may not like it.
You have to play it from the tips or it is way to short. Personally I wouldn't pay more then $20.00 to play here but if you are in the area or staying at the resort it's worth a play.
Water gap
Excellent greens. Very good condition. Pace of play was great.
Skip this course
This was the first time I played Wolf Hollow this season. Shortly into the round, I realized why I don't play here anymore. Season after season, this course has been plumiting downhill. Greens are horrible, I've rolled truer putts on my driveway. Fairways are long and scraggly. Also, I had a hard time even distinguishing the actual fairway from the rough. I wouldn't play here again, even if it was free. That's pretty bad considering my house is 4 miles from the course!
Mountain Course
Great course that challenges your up/down hill ball position
Greens need some work
Enjoyable course to play great for young and old alike a few of the greens need some work good course for the money. only negative and its not the course fault is gnats take along bug spray, all the other courses had same problem but not as bad.
Great Day
We hadn't played there in a few years. The course was in excellent conditon. It was pretty empty. We played 18 in a little over 3 hours. No waiting at all.
Staff was acceptable. Nothing special, but professional.
Food at the turn was closed. I was disappointed about that.
Overall, it was a lovely day. Good golf!!!
Very hilly - keep it in the fairway!
Although distance-wise not extremely long, the amount of hills/side-hills on the fairways and some of the elevated greens made it interesting and somewhat challenging. Greens were very fair and clean. Not much traffic on a weekday. Lot's of gnats at tee boxes - bring repellent! 19th hole grill/pub had a decent selection of food - it was fine, not much of a draught beer selection though. If you walk this course you will get an extreme work-out.
