About

Water Gap Country Club has a dramatically hilly terrain that provides a unique and challenging round of golf. Since opening in the 1920s, the course has played host to a number of major tournaments. The links-style layout features lightning fast, undulating greens and seemingly receptive fairways that are fiercely guarded by mature trees. The elevation changes throughout the golf course guarantee that a flat lie will be hard to find and golfers will have to face several tricky blind shots. Water hazards come into play on five holes and there are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Water Gap is formidable test of your shot-making skills to say the least, but there are some birdie opportunities available. The signature hole is the par-3 fourth, which plays from an elevated tee to an elevated green.

Old Legend gone Bad
This was a great old course with lots of history but new owners are thinking they can get play on its history and not keep up with good conditions. Looks like they hire kids to maintain the course.
Bang for your buck!
This place was very friendly to me and my friend, from the time we walked on until the time we left. First time there, saw some reviews that people said was a little hesitant but we gave it a try. I was more than happy and will going back this weekend, course was challenging, good shape, food was good
Good Mountgin course
a good course with 2 holes that challenge you with blind shots from the tee box. Course is well mainainted for late fall, well worth the time to check out this course. Pace of play is excellent.
Not what it was
Water Gap has become another Pocono course that's on the downslope, possibly heading to an end. It's apparent no money is being spent to upkeep the course and if that will change moving forward. The car paths are awful, roped off in a couple spots. The course was brown in several spots, every sandtrap was different, some hard, some soft. I used to play the course all the time, now I only get there maybe once a year, I didn't see a reason why that would change.
Good Course just over the Border in PA
Definitely need local knowledge to play this course well. A number of blind shots - Up Hill and Down Hill make it a challenge. Fairways late in the season were a bit beat up but the greens were decent. Worth the ride over the Delaware River to play this very well priced course. NOTE: Map it well as it's tricky to get to and GPS tends to take you to another course (Cherry Valley) which is close by.
needs some repair
the course was more difficult than I thought. Many up and down holes with most of the greens elevated. narrow fairways and poor course markings, many blind shots. I played alone and lost about a dozen balls, but made up for it on 17, finding a dozen. Some greens had damage. would not play there again!
Blind Holes
I always like to play this course on occasion. Not in great shape but fun and challenging. If you have not played it before the blind holes will drive you crazy. Very hilly and some tough uphill shots. Greens mostly true.
Great Course
A friend of mine had told me about Water Gap, but did not say anything great about it. I decided I would take the long drive and check it out for myself. While I did have some difficulty with blind shots on several holes, my overall experience was excellent. This is a very nice course, good scenery, nice people and the19th hole is great! Totally enjoyed my day at Water Gap
Better the second time around
The blind tee shots were helped by playing with someone who knows the course. Otherwise it would have been hit
and see
Unique playing experience.
I played the course 3 days in a row and really enjoyed the experience. There are a lot of short par 4 holes with varying elevations requiring strong iron play, a few holes where driver can give you a great advantage if you are willing to take the risk, and 2-3 holes where blind shots take a couple turns to figure out. Overall a great and varied golf course!
It's also just outside a really cute little town center, hit the Apple Pie Bakery after for some great eats!
Great layout! No two holes the same.
Pace of play excellent if played during the week. Many interesting holes with blind shots and beautiful elevated tee boxes on many. Greens rolled true but a bit slow, not that I'm complaining as I shot my personal best here. The course has some real estate development but for the most part looks like the old courses of my grandfathers time. I look forward to returning soon!
Water Gap
The course was in very good shape - especially the greens. Pace of play good.
A good value for the money.
Golf Round
My buddy and I had a great round of golf! Thank You Golf Now and Water Gap CC
Beautiful but short
Water Gap has a great course layout on the top of a mountain with many beautiful holes. There were a lot of blind tees, about 4-5 that were just stupid and felt unnecessary. The course was fairly easy with many short par 4's but overall I its a great course and definitely worth the visit.
course was quite challenging
got to course 20 min. after tee time no problem staff was very friendly and helpful went right out to play course for first time a lot of side hill shots and blind shots fairways and rough was quite long after three days of rain it was expected greens were great will play again
Historic Course with beautiful views
This historic gem is hidden in the Appalachian Mountains. Beautiful views, great food and a helpful staff. I didn't realize they had a major tournament called the Eastern Open. Walter Hagen and Gene Sarazen competed in. They have the score card in the lobby. I recommend the Chicken Impossible sandwich and eating at the outside bar.
Beautiful but mountain challenge
Very nice setting, well maintained, but too difficult for me because every fairway is sloped
Needs a lot of work.
Needs a lot of work. Very dry and tee boxes are not player friendly, they are like fitting out of the rough.
Challenging course, poorly maintained.
In fairness under new ownershio that is working to improve the course but fairways hard as concrete, overgrown foliage needs severe trimming, tee boxes in bad shape, green well maintained, no issues there
Nothing Great Here
I played through a heavy fog when I first got there in the early morning. Course is not in great shape. Parts of the fairway need to be better attended to. A few tee boxes could use some serious grooming. I don't like courses that punish you for good shots, and you get that a bit here. You'll hit a very nice tee shot and end up with a sidehill lie, making a second shot much more difficult than it should be. Greens were spotty, but pretty fast. Overall, not a place I would return to or highly recommend.
