Lake Powell National cuts through the desert and traverses a mesa. It delivers a stern challenge, especially from the back tees–at 7,030 yards. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/05/2025

The drop from tee to green is 125 feet at the sixth, which is both a classic and beautiful downhill par-3. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/05/2025

A sample of the many outstanding views from the course Photo submitted by Corey4652891 on 04/17/2019
A better than expected experience.
The course was in.good shape. A few minor issues here and there. The fairways were in good condition. I don't think I had one bad lie. The pace of play was very good. Very few golfers on the course. The layout was interesting. It's not a walkable course. The downhill 200 yard hole was impressive. I parred it! All carry over red clay. I definitely would play again.
Great views
Lots of great views all over the course. A lot of blind tee shots. Great service by the friendly staff.
Keeping perspective
The course is a great value, I had read a review that basically listed every negative thing the reviewer could think of. The is not a course in Rancho Mitage where unlimited clients shell out 150-200 for a round. For a course in the middle of nowhere in a tiny town they do a fantastic job keeping the grass green the fairways mowed and greens rolling just right. All of this with a lot less players . Which makes it easy to get a tee time but harder to contain and manage cost vs revenue. It reminds me of Butterfield in El Paso with more trees.
Going back.
I liked it so much I’m playing again tomorrow. I played the front 9 with a local who knew the course and I shot 38. I played the back 9 alone and had no clue where to hit the ball and I shot 43. You absolutely need to have course knowledge in order to play here. I really really enjoy this type of course. Every shot needs to be strategic. Even into the greens. Some of the greens have 2 tiers like you’ve never seen.
A photogenic place for golf
Golfers who look down see signs that Lake Powell National is a muni with bald spots in fairways and slow, patchy greens. Golfers who keep their heads up, however, are treated to scenery that competes with Wolf Creek in Nevada and Sand Hollow in Utah for the most beautiful inland course in the American Southwest. I'll take these views over a cookie-cutter course design with better conditioning every time.
The back nine climbs to higher heights with panoramic views of the Glen Canyon Dam where the Colorado River becomes Lake Powell. The 15th hole, a 191-yard par 3, plummets off an elevated tee with a stirring drop to the green. With all the red rocks, bunkers, some water and elevation changes, it's a stiff test of golf, but one well worth experiencing.
great course
We had driven buy this course a number of times and finally stopped. It is a great layout, very good condition, fantastic views and challenging play. We did get stuck behind a slow playing group but that was the only issue.
Unfriendly staff
We arrived 30 minutes prior to tee time. Tee was open, but we had to wait until our tee time.
Amazing views!
I had a great time playing Lake Powell National. The views were great and they had some super cool holes. Worth checking out!
Great views !
Good track....incredible views of the Colorado River
Loved it!!!
So I thought I'd ake a couple of minutes to review this course that I had the pleasure of playing ..to me there was a couple of things that could be improved on one is a better layout or a diagram of showing you this course in better view playing it for the first time I had alot of blindspots to deal with I didn't know where to go with the ball to play it safe ..confusing .and number two is more yardage markers to let you know where your at on the hole itself and how far to the .pin..but other than that it's a fantastic course .I'd suggest it to anyone .
Unforseen surprise, nice golf and magnificent views
Happened to be going by the area and caught a good review so thought I'd give it a look. Boy am I glad I did.
Some of the tees were iffy, the fairways were pretty darn good and the greens had nice grass but some folks who won't fix their ball marks. Not lots but enough to make you want to smack someone with a 7 iron. No excuse for that especially the 15th hole where you tee off from the slickrock cliff maybe 125 feet above the green for a 171 yard shot and my ball stuck like a lawn dart. The sand traps are not sand, they are just the regular red dirt that the grass grows out of all over the course, they are a disappointment but not all that many that come into play. There are continuous exciting elevation changes all over the course and some blind shots where a local playing with you could keep you out of trouble or you better drive ahead and take a look. I got lost three different times so some added signage might help as there are a number of places with long distances between holes. And my white tees could use a new coat of paint, wasn't always sure where I was. All in all, I had a great day on a new course that really made me think about my lines and distances and the views are 180 degrees over the lake and marina. Number 17 is 583 yards, that I hit driver, 3 wood, 3 wood and 8 iron and felt like I didn't hit a bad shot but it was bogey. Number 18 has a very interesting green layout, the best on the course. I had a great day putting which probably colors my review but if you are in the area, give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. The staff was very nice.
Magical
Course is in good condition considering that I played during the hottest time of year. Greens are well kept. Fairways are wide and for the most part in very good condition. Some of the bunkers could use some daily maintenance. Favorite holes are #15 Par 3 with 115’ drop to a kidney shaped green and the long Par 5 at #17 is challenging but offers a Birdie opportunity to the average golfer. And of course, the elevated three-tiered green is a great finishing hole making you want to come back to this magical course.
Lake Powell
Great conditions! Beautiful view! Highly recommend.
Out of town players
Great Course and enjoyed our play. Would like to return.

Lake Powell was a great round- bookedthe night before, rented clubs and played full round with no one in front or behind. Great value for money would definitely play again!
