Been some years since I played here, overall nice course
Enjoyed my round here, I was a single and they paired me up with 3 others. Pace of play was a little slow but what do you expect on a weekend. Tee boxes and greens were in all good shape, There are some tight holes here so better be able to shape some balls.
Golf was good
As soon as we walked in the door we were greated with a scrooge and that just set the stage for a crappy round! It was me , 2 kids 7 & 10 and my wife and you could tell by the look on the guys face he didn't care if we were there. Although he did let us play cause the girl at the counter asked there ages and supposedly you've got to be 8 which I'm glad they let us play. He was a stickler on making sure we kept pace, kept an eye on our kids and didn't let them drive the carts (well duh). Then when we hit the range he has the nerve to get on PA system and say the right side is for driving only in which we all had drivers in our hands cause we can read the signs they have posted. Even the other members were like why is he saying that. I heard by members that management is horrible so needless to say we won't be back!
Good value
Typical public course. It’s in pretty good condition right now. Staff had never been super friendly but it’s worth the play.
Not Bad
Been Playing Indian Hills off and on for many years. It has it's good years and it has had some really bad years. This was the first time playing here in just over a year and the course played well and was in pretty good shape. Well worth the $33 that i paid compared to other courses locally.
I will be back to play again in a week or two.
Cart paths
Some of the cart paths had standing water, which wasn't cleared. Markings for the wholes are very noticeable. Overall the course was very nice and the greens are in excellent condition.
The greens were recently aerated so that’s the only thing that could have been better
The new GPS system was constantly giving threats of turning our cart off for approaching hazards and restricted areas even though we were no were near them and even shut our cart down!! Gps also gave constant reminders that we were behind such as 3 minutes behind when playing 18 holes. The entire round felt rushed and uncomfortable not knowing when the next cart shut down will come or for why? This course is not for me. Very unfriendly, rushed, and when I notified staff at the end of the round of my experience they simply stated there was nothing they can do! My entire party agreed not to return to this course.
Do some simple maintenance!
After days without rain the course still had muddy puddles of water along paths, tees, and greens. Low spots were swampy and you could walk not through. It appears this is all the result of overwatering or broken irrigation, possibly. Seeing mud, tire tracks and water all around the clubhouse and the first tee is not a good first impression. Tees were good and greens okay having just been aerated.
9 hole round July 21
Overall the course isn’t “bad”, but main complaint for my wife and I was complete lack of signage!
We had to guess where the clubhouse and ball drop was located. Got turned around several times as to which hole was where on the course! Needed fellow golfers help to navigate which hole to go to. Don’t understand why a few signs couldn’t be placed.
Cart paths are showing their age. Fairways and greens weren’t too bad, especially for the price. Overall the course and facilities needs a little TLC.
Indian Hills
3rd time I’ve played this course and could be the last. Every time you book a tee time for 2 or 3 golfers they stick you with randoms to make a 4some when the course isn’t half as busy as others around. The carts are sub par and the gps on them don’t work and we had to push the cart on some holes. I’ve never played the course when you can actually drive the cart on the fairways, so enjoy your evening walk to your ball as another group is waiting behind that they randomly start on the back 9. The vibe with the staff and the clubhouse is meh, feels like an office in the there. This coming from a golfer that has golfed 30 different courses in Tennessee just this year.
