Condition of Course is not acceptable
I have played Indian Hills for many years going back to the early 90's. It was in the worst shape I have seen in years. I thought the cost of playing was out of line with the playing conditions of the course. I hope that the repair work will return the course to its glory days in the 90's.
Course select
The course was in good condition they need to work on the sand traps a lot of bees in all them they should spay can’t hit out of them unless you want to get stung a little to slow for me on the greens
MUCH improved, but still needs some work
I wrote a review about this golf course a while back and it was in horrible shape back then. Well, they must've had the same complaints from members and everyone who has played this course, because it is much improved from those playing conditions.
The clubhouse is still very nice and the staff are amazingly friendly. The starters are a tad brash and they always seem limited on carts so you end up getting paired with random people with no explanation whatsoever. But I understand they are trying to keep tee times as efficient as possible.
The course is MUCH improved since my last review. The last review, the tee boxes were absolutely destroyed and they have gotten much better and the greens, although still have some bad spots somewhere are much better and you can almost hit a putt on your line and it not deviate. Fairways are firm and fast and pace of play is always slow here with a lot of blind tee shots but I still played a 4.5 hour round yesterday (with a 4 some).
Overall, still work to do, but considering Old Fort has been closed down for 6 months, they have made significant strides in improving the golf course. Well done.
Absolute delight.
Indian Hills is a wonderful course and is on its way to pristine conditioning. A few greens are recovering, in spots but the grounds staff is doing a wonderful job. Staff was great, I was early and they kindly sent me out with an earlier group as I was a single. Outside of the recovering greens, the only mild complaint would be pace of play. Playing as a threesome behind another threesome, I would have thought we would get through a bit faster, we played in 4 hours and 15 minutes. It wasn’t an egregious amount of waiting on each tee, but it was every tee box. All in all, Indian Hills is well worth your time and is a great course with lots of variety and intriguing green complexes. I can’t wait to go back.
Fine place to play but...
The gentlemen working in the office have always been kind and helpful. Unfortunately, I've now had a few encounters with the starter and Marshall being rude. When you pay a lot of money for your family to go golf you expect a good positive experience and now twice they have really tainted our experience which is unfortunate.
Need drink cart out in extreme heat
The course is awesome and I truly enjoy playing here but when it is almost 100 degrees I feel you should have a beverage cart going around to help beat the heat.

Thank you for your feedback! As the Director of Golf for Indian Hills GC, I completely agree. Unfortunately, the date that you played our staff member scheduled for beverage cart called out sick and we were unable to bring someone in last minute. We do strive to have 2 beverage carts running on our busiest days. Hopefully when you play again in the future you'll be able to enjoy that part of our experience!
Staff Improved
Customer service is often the difference between similar golf courses. Indian Hills has made huge strides in customer service as well as pace of play control. As a result many fellow golfers have taken notice. Kudos to the management, great attention to detail.
Slow Play
We had to wait about 15mins on each tee box then we had young jackbasses hitting into us thinking we’re the ones playing slow. Course definitely needs better time management. I’ve played at least 20 rounds there and at least 8 of times it’s been like this.
Very impressed with this course
Other than getting paired with a walker who should be banned from the course for his behavior and the greens having some water damage, I thought this was the best public course I've played in middle tennessee. I thought the fairways where we'll kept. The tee boxes have definitely seen alot of use lately but that's also a sign of a popular course. I fully expect to play here again
Great course - very slow weekend play
Played Saturday afternoon - paid for 18 but only did 9 because when I got to the 10th tee there were two foursomes stacked up waiting. If I kept going it surely would have been a 6 hour round no thanks
Greens in Rough Shape
#4,5,8,6 greens are in terrible shape, sand patches, missing grass, mud etc. For $71.00 per round i would expect decent greens, Ted Rhodes golf course in Nashville has impeccable greens for $43.00.
Thank you for the kind remarks as we work to improve our facility. As you know it takes time to grow in from the winter months and our superintendent has done a great job at improving the quality of the facility. We look forward to keep making those improvements as the months and years go on!
