course is just ok
had a bad experience took almost 6hrs to play from tee time till finished didnt see beverage cart till 18th hole greens were very unconsistence fast on one slow on the others they had holes in some of the greens and didnt see a martial till the 14th hole to address are concerns i will never play this course again including the 3 other golfers that i was with.
Twilight green fee? Amazing value!
Twilight green fee? Amazing value! Will be back to play this course again very soon.
play too slow
the pace was excessively slow. two different groups in front bogged the entire course. No marshals to be found. The entire back nine, the food cart girl bypassed us, cutting across fairways. Not a bad round if you're not in a hurry and bring your own food and drink.
good and bad
Although Red Tail is a much improved track from Progress Downs, I'm not a fan of the layout. Some holes are too long, some too short. 5 1/2 hour round, too long. Lots of time waiting for groups tocclear. Primary problem is guys playing blue or black Tees, when they have no business playing those tees. We waited several times for the guys in front of us to wait for the green to clear when they were 230+ out and they hadn't hit their drives 200. This just causes play to slow down. Maybe some better marshalling would help.
Fun Course - Very Friendly Staff!
It was my first time out to RedTail Golf Course and I had a great time! They offer lessons, club-fittings, and much more! Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly!
Course conditions are as good as they get here
Rolled through first 14 holes, 15 backed up 3 groups. Course was in great condition even after weekend of heavy play.
Greens have a lot of slope. Hard to one putt from 6 feet out.
We hit the late night golfing and played through 14 holes before the darkness set in.
The course was playing slow as it was Fathers Day! Always a challenge playing Red Tail as this was my 5th time on the course.
challenging course pace of play too slow
Pretty difficult course overall but good value. The problem was pace of play. After having a 2.5 hour front nine we found that the starter put a group of 5, yes five, in front of us at the 10th hole. Super frustrating. 5.5 hour rounds don't make you want to come back or recommend to your friends.
Expected better
Out biggest dissapointment was the slow play by other players, and particularly the fact that we were "jumped" at least three times late in the round, by groups either skipping holes or coming out of nowhere, jumping in ahead of us and causing delays. We should have been able to easily finish our round by 8:30 which would have left us plenty of light, as it was we had to play the 18th in nearly complete darkness. The overall appearance of the course was below par for what we've experienced with other courses in the Portland area.
Very Enjoyable
Aside from the fact that there were daisies growing in the fairways in a couple places I really enjoyed this course. There are enough different challenges that its very interesting. Greens rolled very true, not overly fast. Tee boxes were in pretty good shape. There are enough water holes that you might want to bring some extra balls :). I walked and carried and I'm 43 and a tad over weight and it wasn't overly taxing.
I'm definitely going back for the twilight special.
Disorganized, unknowledgable staff and discurteous golfers.

Beautiful course. But there are few spot where I lost my balls due to the muddy fairway and the ball got plunged!
Great course. Friendly stuff. But due to rain the winter playing conditions are never great. Great practice facility.
Design is ok, price was great but the course in poor condition
We got a great price on the "Hot Deal" so for the price we paid
it was ok.
The issue would be the condition of the course, several fairways
had large areas that were unplayable.
On a side note we saw a beautiful bald eagle flying around the
course, it was amazing.
Better than expected
Several of my friends had told me this course wasn't very good so I had low expectations going in. I was pleasantly surprised by a nice golfing experience...especially for the price.
The holes were fairly tight and challenging, there was a good mix of longer and shorter holes from the blue tees, and the practice facilities were quite nice. Only downside of my experience was that the course was pretty soggy (plugged about 5 drives in the fairway) but then again, golfing in Portland in Feb, not all that unexpected.
For the price I would definitely recommend this course for a quick round.
Bad course to play in the wet season
We slogged through swampy fairways on a sunny November day. The course is very poorly drained. We had a single golfer yell at us when we were on the green and he on the approaching fairway. I didn't know what the problem was. When he approached the next tee, he yelled, "Can I play through?" As always there was no presence of staff on the course to monitor play.
Of all the Portland area courses I have played over the last 30 years, this one has had a very strange monopoly on rudeness. It used to be that this would come from employees. Now they are better, and it appears that the golfers have taken over.
I liked the length of this course!
The course seemed, to me, pretty long for a course in the middle of suburbia. I liked the length of the course as I found myself hitting a decent drive and still being a 5 iron out. I found this course challenging yet doable.
very nice place to play
my buddy and i played for the first time here the 28th of sept. had a great time. played from the blue tees and it was nice to have some long irons into the greens instead of 8, 9, or wedge. greens rolled consistent and to me were in great shape. the bunkers were also very well kept. this course was a great surprise and has moved into my top five courses around the portland vancouver area.
Great public course.
Challenging but fair course. I try to play at least a few times each season and this year the course was in good condition from June through Sept. Love the wildlife (ducks, geese, blue herons, hawks, coyotes) at a city course. Good pro shop and practice facilities.
Course was very busy but good - watch credit card charges carefully
Golf course good ...
Pro shop / store...
I was traveling from San Diego when I played this course in Oregon. I purchased some clothes at their shop after the round. I discovered, after returning home, I had been overcharged on my credit card. Bought 2 shirts, 1 pair of shorts and 2 pairs of pants. I was charged for 4 pairs of pants in instead of 2.
