About
Belle Terre Country Club in La Place was carefully carved from the beautiful swamps of southeast Louisiana. The name, translated from French, means "beautiful land," a title that the terrain certainly lives up to. Pete Dye designed the golf course, utilizing the existing water features and mature trees to craft a layout that is both challenging and scenic. The back tees stretch to 6,849 yards, which will challenge the seasoned player while the forward tees make the course accessible for beginners. Water comes into play on 10 holes and there are also several strategically placed bunkers. Belle Terre Country Club boasts a nice mix of holes that will test a variety of different skills, from long holes where you can grip it and rip it to short, tight holes that demand accuracy.

Nice course
It was wet and held water, but overall a really nice course. The closed the club shop early so could not get snacks or drinks at the turn and we teed off at noon.

The course was very wet. It is normally difficult, but when it is wet it is really hard. Water hazards comes into play on many holes. The cart was clean and in good operating condition.

Late December round
Greens coming out of aeration. Mostly grass with sone hints of sanding. Greens will be great in 2 weeks. A little damp/ wet in low spots, sone rain a few days ago, not a lot of sun till today.
Challenging layout

Getting better
Great layout and fun course. The greens were much better than this summer. A couple tee boxes need attention but Overall good.

Belle Terre 11-5
Love the layout of the course. Greens are much better than they were in summer, still spotty in places but rolled well. Fairways and bunkers were in good shape. Course was not crowded at all so pace of play was great.

Very disappointed...
My buddy made tee times on Thursday for Friday morning and first available was 8:30....sweet! Driving to the coarse we saw piece of machinery crossing the road on the cart path, didn’t think anything of it. As we drove up and passed the 18th green, it was streaked with sand. When checking in at the pro shop, the guy said they sanded the greens 2 days ago and assured us that the crew was working on watering and sweeping the greens. He said by the time we get to number three they would not look like the practice green or #18. Well, he lied. There was no one working on the greens and they all had streaks and uneven layers of sand on every hole. Besides the sand on the greens there was also pea gravel mixed in the sand. The fairways had been cut, but there were clumps of clippings all over not to mention all the tee boxes needed to be cut. The grass had started sprouting seed heads and that was on every box. When we made the turn, the guy at the pro shop came out and offered us a free lunch and soft drink because of the coarse conditions. After our round we went into the bar and ordered our hamburgers and fries. The food was excellent and the lady behind the bar was very nice. For paying $45 for the round and getting compensation of $12 meal, I guess it evened out. I would have like for the guy in the pro shop to be more honest up front because while we were eating he came in and admitted they sanded the greens this morning and that the crew had left until later that evening. Very disappointed.

Belle Terre 9/4/2020
Course was in much better condition than the last time I played here about a year ago. Has some spotty places on some greens.
Bridge to #1 tee is broken down and have to take bridge to practice area to get to 1st tee.
Practice greens were ok but had spotty areas as well.
Pace of play was great after we played they 2 groups ahead of us. Played 18 in just under 3 hours.

Lack of Maintenance
Course website said it had been closed for months for maintenance. Apparently, that is not correct. Lots of weeds and bare spots in the greens. It was also unfortunate that there had been a lot of rain recently and parts of the course were flooded ( mainly the cart path and restrooms). This is a Pete Dye design and a challenging course, but it has seen better days.
Almost awesome
Fun course with everything in good shape except the greens. They look pretty bad but played better than they looked. Either way it was worth the money
Laying conduits
Course condition was a bit off today due to rewiring projects. Normally the course is in very good playing condition.
I play this course often so i am bound to run into off days due to required work projects needed for maintenance
