Belle Terre Country Club

        About
Belle Terre Country Club in La Place was carefully carved from the beautiful swamps of southeast Louisiana. The name, translated from French, means "beautiful land," a title that the terrain certainly lives up to. Pete Dye designed the golf course, utilizing the existing water features and mature trees to craft a layout that is both challenging and scenic. The back tees stretch to 6,849 yards, which will challenge the seasoned player while the forward tees make the course accessible for beginners. Water comes into play on 10 holes and there are also several strategically placed bunkers. Belle Terre Country Club boasts a nice mix of holes that will test a variety of different skills, from long holes where you can grip it and rip it to short, tight holes that demand accuracy.

The hole was damaged an inch around the entire hole. This wasn’t the worst one but just one that I took a picture of after being disgusted. Photo submitted by u000004947912 on 06/13/2021

Greens coming around
Played it twice over the past two months, definately getting better. Greens are almost there. Way better than it was a year ago. Trending in the right direction.
Hidden Gem
A nice course with many challenges of water. Greens were in excellent shape as were tee boxes. No one in sight on a saturday morning, but LSU was playing Alabama later in the day.
Great value
Course is in good shape! Greens were on the slower side. For under $40 you can't go wrong playing here.
Course
Good condition. Greens full and looking good mostly.
Some holes rolled “bumpy”.
Balls checked up. Tees were ok (some hard to put tee in ground).
Rough was cut; but ball was sitting down making clean contact a priority.
It takes money to make money!
This course used to be the crown jewel of the River Parishes. Players would put on their best golf shirt to play here. Unfortunately, the new owners do not know how to properly take care of a course. The cart paths are atrocious. The greens are Paspalum which are extremely salt tolerant warm season grass, but it was completely unnecessary to plant this instead of the old Bermuda. The new grass has never took with the new greens. It’s always like putting on shag carpet at Belle Terre. Today, it was like shag carpet with a nice top-dressing of sand. The fairways are fine, the tee boxes are un-level and I could have used a portable drill to get my tee into the ground. The bunkers are inconsistent; some are unattended and muddy while others are perfectly fluffy. There are no amenities to speak of here. No bartender, no cooks, no beverage carts, nothing! The facilities are fully capable, but management can’t get staff to work and it’s because there are rarely more than 10 cars in the parking lot on any given day. It makes for great pace of play, but being your own drinks and food, and a portable drill!
Bargain Basement Pricing, Worth Much More
The course is perfect for the mid to low handicapper who doesn't practice, loves the game, and enjoys a mild golfing budget . The greens are old, but they're well kept, and surrounds are clean enough. The speed is slower than most may prefer, but they are well managed, challenging to play into, and are sneaky grainy. This is not championship golf, but absolutely worth the Golf Now pricing!!! Super fun because all par 5's are reacheable (blue tees played), many short(er) par 4's. So many risk reward opportunities, but be crisp. Water is everywhere.
Must play
Excellent course and good greens
