Holes 18
Type Resort/Public
Style Desert
Par 71
Length 6917 yards
Slope 142
Rating 72.9

The Boulders Golf Club & Resort complex features two outstanding 18-hole courses. Both courses are very well maintained, and the scenery is incredible. Boulder's South Course is exactly the type of desert course people come to the Phoenix-Scottsdale resort corridor to play. A round of golf on the South kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 421 yards from the blue tees, which is quickly followed by a short par 3, measuring 150 yards from the blue tees. Things get long on the fifth hole, a 545-yard par 5, which is just a warm-up for the 11th hole, a par 5 that measures 601 yards from the blue tees. It doesn't get much easier to finish: The 18th is a par 5 that measures 513 yards from the blue tees.

Beautiful desert mountain setting, well-maintained course

Played the North Course on Christmas Day. It was in great shape and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Having never played the course before, the opening holes were tough with blind shots. If you miss the fairway, you can be in serious trouble in the desert or have a lost ball. Tha back nine is friendlier with most of the holes laying out before you without many blind shots. The greens are quick and roll true but most players apparently don't bother with repairing pitch marks or spike marks. It's a fun layout in great shape in a beautiful desert mountain environment. Plenty of wildlife on the course, too.

Greens were fast with a lot of small pebbles

Breakfast burrito and sandwich was very bland. 18% gratuity is built into drink orders. Make sure you bring water and your glass on the start where the bottled water cost $10

First Time @ Boulders

The course is really phenomenal. The scenery is truly breathtaking. The layout is also great.

However, the greens are quite poor, especially at this price point and do not match the level of quality of the rest of the course. Greens are bumpy and weedy.

Really want to play the course again soon, but the poor greens quality gives me reservations.

The course is spectacular from a scenery and layout standpoint. Trully breathtaking. However, the South course greens conditions do not match the rest of the course. They are extremely bumpy, inconsistent and weedy. Not sure what grass this is, but extremely poor. Could not gauge speed but more importantly rolls were nowhere near pure. I would consider going back in a heartbeat to play again, but the greens would make me seriously consider choosing another option.

Dissappointed

The greens were very bumpy with large sand particles. The remaining course is beautiful as always.

I have played the course several times this season and the greens were the worst I have seen.

Beautiful course, unusual situation

My husband and I have played Boulders N several times over the years and loved it. This was our first go at Boulders South. When we reached starter at #1 he told us there were 2 singles with us. One was there. Second man drove up late with a woman in the cart. There was one set of clubs. Everyone thought she was approved as a ride along. To our surprise she pulled a club out of his bag and proceeded to hit once starter moved. We other 3 were shocked! Neither she nor her partner hit in bounds. They began searching for balls. This repeated on second and 3rd shots. The “single man” commented to us that this couldn’t continue. It was illegal to play a 5 some, let alone out of a bag. And they weren’t decent players for this level of course play. We agreed. It would take 25 minutes on each hole! Our “3rd” golfer called the golf shop and explained situation and was told it would be taken care of; someone would come and resolve the situation. No one did! Finally our “single man” told them they would have to go back to get paired up with another single or twosome. No one came to help them. They joined a twosome that was coming along for awhile. Many holes later we saw one had left. And finally they the other golfer left as well. We saw the couple sporadically but noticed they “skipped” 18 - probably because they knew they had illegally played a 2 for 1 and out of one bag to boot! Disappointed such a prestigious course didn’t address this issue! We felt we shouldn’t have had to take action - whole situation was very distressing and left a bad experience when it should have never happened in the first place.

Not what it used to be

It’s clear that the South course is not a priority now that the North is for members only. It’s too bad because the property is still beautiful and the layout is good. I’m not a fan of supposed premium courses spray painting dormant greens in the winter. Spend the money on good winter greens if you’re going to charge players $300. These were rock hard and couldn’t hold most approach shots.

Gorgeous but expensive

I absolutely love this course but with the Canadian dollar demanding an additional 45% I need to be a little careful . I only played here because I go a decent deal from golf now. $207 before taxes for. 1230pm tee time. The course is normally $340!to 450!!! That is way too much IMHO. Round was approx 4 hours and 40 mins.. we had to wait on a few holes but we were never pushed from behind.. I will attach pictures which will attest to the beauty of this course. But I have three major complaints… #1 no water provide on cart, ice is but no water bottles! At that price … come on!!! Instead they charge you $9 for a bottle water on the course !!! The family I played with ordered two waters and one local beer and it came to $30!!!! That is gauging and very sad that the course feels this is the right move. Would I play again? Absolutely but I would only do so if I got the hot deal price and next time, I’m bringing my own water!
