Legend Trail Golf Club
About
When the architect Rees Jones created the golf course at the Legend Trail Golf Club, he created a golf course that brings out the Old West-style air of Scottsdale and a fun and testing golf course with greens made of bent grass. It's a premium golf course smack dab in the Sonora Desert.
The golf course at the Legend Trail Golf Club features broad fairways, diminutive bunkering and tees placed on islands, and has been called one of the Top 100 golf courses by Golf Magazine. The magazine also gives Legend Trail 4.5 stars out of five among its
Best Places to Play, and has one of the Top 100 Woman-Friendly Fairways, according to Golf For Women magazine. Panoramas include local sites like Pinnacle Peak, and a round at Legend Trail Golf Club gives all levels of golfer several different shot-making options.
Golf a late-afternoon round on Friday or Saturday, and head back to the Trail's End Grill from 4 to 6 p.m. for specials on drinks and appetizers.

Another Great Hole Photo submitted by mhinkle on 09/23/2012
Best time of year for Legend Trail
Course was in great shape. Traps and greens were immaculate. Nice track and uncrowded. Affordable this time of year.
I don’t understand the bad reviews
I was very hesitant to golf here because of the brutal reviews. So glad I did! The pro shop was very nice, along with the starters. The course was in great shape except for a few spots, and seems to have healed from whatever was going on a couple of weeks ago. Good drink specials, hot dogs. Beautiful scenery. Up in way North Scottsdale, so 5 degrees cooler. $60 dollar afternoon tee time that includes range balls. The 7 pm cart curfew is a bit disappointing, but otherwise, it was a wonderful day! We even saw a bobcat!
Horrible conditions and elevated prices
Played here in June, the prices were very high for Phoenix summer golf. I was expecting tip top conditions, at what they are charging, but boy were we in for a shock! Fairways were 40% burnt out, not in good shape at all. Greens healthy but extremely bumpy. I like the layout a lot, especially the back 9, but it is such a bad value right now. I would be a little more forgiving, but the golf staff is so snooty, like they are doing you a favor for letting you play. (The club cleaners are super nice though.). Just not a good experience. They should be charging $25 or $30 w/ the course in this condition, not $55. No wonder it is deserted...
Horrendous course conditions
I had played Legend Trail before and really enjoyed it. However, this time the only good thing was I played by myself and played in 2 hours! The greens were not great but good but the fairways and tees had little to NO grass on them. There were large parts of the fairways that were just damp mud! I wouldn’t recommend anyone play this course until the Bermuda grows in (if ever this year). Glad I got a hot deal on golf pass!
Awful fairways
The greens and tee boxes are nice. The fairways are toast. Very little grass. You are hitting off of dirt.
Old mentality in pro shop
The staff reminded me of the old days when the pro shops felt like they were doing us a favor by allowing us to spend our money there to play.. I’m glad these are few and far between these days. Nice course but I’ll take my money to other places with better customer service. Cheers
Always A Fun Track
Legend is always a great track because a scratch golfer can have fun and score well and an 18 handicap can do the same. Enough challenges to keep it interesting but not brutally difficult for the high cappers. We’re hitting the warm season, so the grass is transitioning in the fairways, but I never had a completely barren lie in the fairway or around greens. The bunkers might be some of the best in town at a public course. Greens were pure with the exception of golfers not fixing their pitch marks - it’s ridiculous to not bend over and fix a couple when you get to the green. Tee boxes were all perfect.
Course condition
Greens were nice, fairways were garbage with tons and tons of dead yellow grass with hard pan lies. Not worth $140 right now at all
Great time at Legend Trail GC
Course is in very good shape. The only improvement I could advise is add more sand to the bunkers and keep them raked--not as bad as some muni-course bunkers, but could be softer.
Also due to high recent temps, the fairways were slow from watering--not much rollout on drives. I understand that, but the rough was also watered fairly heavy making it a bit sloppy to get a club through the ball. The staff was excellent, pace great, course looked wonderful and good price performance.
Beautiful day and paired with a couple that made day even better. Beautiful course and challenging but fair. 9 minute tee times made for great spacing and pace of play
Charged by Course More than Reserved Price
I was charged at the course more than the price per GolfNow reported I would be charged.
Great Shape
From tee to green course in immaculate shape! Great practice area, solid Bev cart service. Only thing they need: GPS on carts, all courses of this caliber have them.
Beautiful Golf Course
Everything was perfect. The layout, the staff at arrival, staff on the course. Very happy with the outcome. Had a beautiful golf day.
this is a great comments, and agrees 100% with my experience. Even the most exclusive private courses are more welcoming than LT.
