Kino Springs Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2021.
Surrounded by acres of gently rolling hills studded with native mesquite and oak trees, Kino Springs Golf Course has a stunning location along the Santa Cruz River. Savvy birdwatchers know that it's a major flyway where you can see flycatchers, orioles, kingfishers, and grey hawks. The course is part of the historic Estancia Yerba Buena Ranch, which has hosted an impressive guest list over the years that includes John Wayne and Elizabeth Taylor. The golf course is player friendly enough for beginners but it has enough risk-reward opportunities to appeal to low handicappers. The opening holes play across open meadows but by the fifth hole you'll find yourself in canyon country. Mature pine trees frame Kino Springs Golf Course's last five holes but the views from the elevated tees stretch past the treetops to the scenic river.

Little Secret
I was at first reluctant to write a review because Kino is a little known course in Nogales, but I really enjoyed the round, so I decided to share. Kino has small town hospitality and big resort service. This was my first time playing here in about five years. I was met at my car with a cart and the attendant (Jim) offered to load my bag on the cart. I played as a single on an early weekday morning and got right out. I played a really fast round and was waved through by three friendly twosomes.
I had forgotten what a fun track Kino has. An interesting mix of short, risk/reward holes, and some longer holes. Interesting tee boxes from the tips. The course was pretty dry, but the greens were in good shape. After the round I was again met by Jim, who cleaned my clubs and loaded them back in the car. Thank you for your outstanding customer service! I will play this course again soon.
Summer Challenge
The course continues to be challenging to all levels of play. The fairways appeared to need water, but played very well and fast. The tee boxes needed water as well, but very playable. The greens were in very good condition and with good speed. Course management is a prime factor in playing this course, especially for holes #6 through #13, where accuracy becomes a premium.
Love this course!
I love this course, its beautiful and challenging. The weather was extremely hot so we started early. The greens were wonderful.
Yes...worth the drive.
Played here on 5-29 and actually got rained on. Great day. Light, cool drizzle. Course is an interesting layout/mix of open and tight holes........hills, valleys and thick brush, and wide open spaces. Several blind shots and sharp drop off places to avoid. I like this course....it will challenge your game. Condition is ok, but needs work. Greens had been aerated recently...still kinda lumpy. The owner could put a little money into improvements/maintenance.
Worth the drive from Tucson
This course is fun, especially the canyon holes. Playing it for the first time it was worth the $3 to purchase a course description book; would have been lost without it. Looking forward to playing it again. The staff was super friendly.
Lovely day
The greens were great even though they had been punched earlier. There was plenty of drinking water on the course. The fairways could use a little more water.
Great value
Very nice course, well maintained considering the climate. Very picturesque
ROUGH CART PATHS
MY WIFE AND I HAD HEARD GOOD THINGS SO WE DROVE DOWN AND WE HAD A GREAT TIME. FRIENDLY STAFF, NO 0NE ON THE COURSE, PERFECT WEATHER, CHALLENGING COURSE. THE GOLF CART PATHS ARE VERY AND I MEAN VERY ROUGH SO BE SURE AND LEAVE YOUR COVERS ON YOUR CLUBS.
Wonderful terrain
The condition of course was very good. Greens were being aereated. Views are splendid.
great layout
great people work here also the views are great and the greens are fast and in perfect shape.
Worth the drive
Kino Springs is always a pleasure to play and well worth the drive from Tucson.
Greens were consistent but challenging to read. Fairways were tight and greens held.
Wife and I had a great time.
Watch out for power lines on 18
Greens and fairways in good condition. Not much sand in sand traps. Power lines come into play on the drive on hole #5 and approach on #18.
Kino is always good!
I made an eagle!!
This course is in pretty good shape, the green are a lot better now.
Changing elevations
The course has been well maintained and plays very well.
Enjoy the views, especially during the middle holes, but keep it in
the fairway. I continue to enjoy the variety of holes and how the course challenges all of your game. Greens putt very well and may vary in speed, so beware.
Challenging with several blind holes..great greens
I had not played Kino Springs for several years....I will now play the course again. Challenging with several blind holes and greens that were fast but true lines for your putts. Good value and I do recommend the golf course
Golfing beauty.
The remote setting for Kino Springs G.C. is almost
perfection. The challenging holes are backed up by
the beautiful vistas in every direction. A fun course
to play.
Great Value
The course is a little out of the way but well worth the travel. The course is short at less than 6500 yards from the back tees which I played. It was still challenging though. It's a shot makers course. The greens were in excellent shape and the fairways were nice and green. It would have been helpful to have someone along that knew the course. I was alone and it was my first time playing the course. My only complaint was lack of signage telling you where the next tee box was. It was a little confusing. I would recommend playing this course.
great course
We play Kino about 8-10 times from Nov 1 to May1.
Great course, very difficult, greens are speedy.
We love playing here, wish it were closer to Green Valley.
People in the club house are great.
quiet, relaxing round of golf beautiful scenery
Good round of golf with out of town guests beautiful surroundings challenging course
Great Course
Played on a clear sunny day with some wind. Great time, great setting. Had a friend in from Washington State and he was really impressed with the experience. Good memory, reasonable from the scoring standpoint. Great consistent greens Liked it a lot.
