Kino Springs Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2021.
Surrounded by acres of gently rolling hills studded with native mesquite and oak trees, Kino Springs Golf Course has a stunning location along the Santa Cruz River. Savvy birdwatchers know that it's a major flyway where you can see flycatchers, orioles, kingfishers, and grey hawks. The course is part of the historic Estancia Yerba Buena Ranch, which has hosted an impressive guest list over the years that includes John Wayne and Elizabeth Taylor. The golf course is player friendly enough for beginners but it has enough risk-reward opportunities to appeal to low handicappers. The opening holes play across open meadows but by the fifth hole you'll find yourself in canyon country. Mature pine trees frame Kino Springs Golf Course's last five holes but the views from the elevated tees stretch past the treetops to the scenic river.

Very windy day made play difficult. That is not a course problem!
There seems to be a lot of 1 & 2 player groups that push a 4 player group, such as we had. We don't mind letting those playing much faster to play through, although the length of the course makes this somewhat difficult.
The greens are fast (good), but need some recovery time from the last aeration. The golf cart paths are in poor shape, but it would take two banks to provide funds to resurface the paths. I can understand why that probably will not happen in the near future. I will play this course again.
Very challenging
The coarse is in great shape, greens are very good would recommend it to all.
Great views
The course is in good shape, has great views from the mountains. Pace of play is good. Would recommend to anyone.
Good condition after over seeding
Some restoration is still needed after the over seeding; otherwise, the course is in good shape. Love the change in topogrophy during the round. Thanks, robert
Nice course- great views
A fun course with a lot of elevation changes. Our cart, however, must have been there when Stewart Granger bought the place.....the staff were super friendly and accommodating. We'll be back!
Green Outstanding
After all the rain they have had the course is in the best shape I have seen in a while. Fairways are lush and the greens are soft but fast and true. I played from the white tips. if you play the blue, there are some really challenging holes. The only draw back was #8 par 4, was a par 3 because of flooding. It is one of the most challenging holes there. Its a 200 yard par 3 with all carry and prevailing winds in your face, so it is still tough. Best hidden secret in Southern Arizona. Well worth the time. I play there a lot.
Great Day- Great Course
The golf course is in great shape. Greens are smooth and fast. I enjoyed the challenging layout. Keep up the good work.
nice course
It had been a while since we played Kino, because the last experience was not good. Way to go Kino springs staff. A good layout followed by a well maintained track. Thank you.
The greens were some of the best here in Southern Arizona. The fairways could use some work.
We really enjoyed the pace of play and the overall condition of the course. The grill was not open, so we had a drink in the club house and then left. I would play here more often if it wasn't so far away.
Enjoyable layout.
A very enjoyable round on an interesting layout. Greens are in superb condition, fairways spotty at times.
Great Layout
Course was in good shape. This is a very interesting layout. It is helpful to play with someone who has played the course before especially for advice from the tee box for club selection and line. Staff very friendly.
great greens and senic mountain views
first time playing at kino springs.lot of grass in fairways greens in great shape. the course has nice layout .liked so much played it the next day.
Great experience for the dollars spent.
We enjoyed our round with great views! The area has had some severe flooding and the grounds people have tried their best to meet the challenge. The areas that weren't flooded were in great condition. The greens were in fantastic shape. Very enjoyable.
Beautiful course, lots of trees.
This was my first visit to this course. The staff are extremly friedly and helpful. The rolling hills and trees are beautiful. A thunder storm shortened the game on the last few holes. There was a tournament in front of us that slowed play, but we had fun any way. I would recommend this course to all.
Fun to play
Needs water very bad. Maybe after monsoons it will improve.
Quite a fun course. Not a lot of easy holes.
Dry & in need of attention!
If you want to play alone then this is the course for you. It definately is a "Desert" golf course.
enjoyed the course very much.Staff was very friendly.
The course was in very good shape even with the hot conditions
we are having. Greens rolled very well and the fairways were
good. The staff at the clubhouse were very friendly and the
workers we met on the course were very people friendly. Cart girl
was a gem and had plenty of cold drinks and we seen her frequently. Had a great golf experience.
great greens
greens, bunkers and green fringes are in grate shape ! fareways have some burnt out areas
Great Golf Course
This golf course is in very good shape. Best I have seen it in the last 2 years. Well watered greens and the ball will not bounce on impact as at other courses. Super nice views also. Elevation changes are nice also. Bring your "A" game.
Different and fun course!
First few and last few holes are pretty "normal" and lie in a nice picturesque valley area. But those middle holes really give this course tons of character and are a challenge for any golfer. Plenty of uphill, downhill, and sidehill shots, with a few blind shots added into the mix. Course is located in an isolated but beautiful area just outside of Nogales. Well worth the trip from Tucson or Green Valley. Greens fees are wonderfully inexpensive, yet the course is well maintained, though bunker sand really isn't "classic" sand as one would expect...it's a bit hard, but playable. Overall, great course and worth the drive. We played two other courses in Green Valley on this trip, and Kino Springs was our favorite.
