Kino Springs Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2021.
Surrounded by acres of gently rolling hills studded with native mesquite and oak trees, Kino Springs Golf Course has a stunning location along the Santa Cruz River. Savvy birdwatchers know that it's a major flyway where you can see flycatchers, orioles, kingfishers, and grey hawks. The course is part of the historic Estancia Yerba Buena Ranch, which has hosted an impressive guest list over the years that includes John Wayne and Elizabeth Taylor. The golf course is player friendly enough for beginners but it has enough risk-reward opportunities to appeal to low handicappers. The opening holes play across open meadows but by the fifth hole you'll find yourself in canyon country. Mature pine trees frame Kino Springs Golf Course's last five holes but the views from the elevated tees stretch past the treetops to the scenic river.

Beautiful views & good greens
The staff and support people are friendly and gracious.
Beautiful southwest setting
If you want to experience golf in a rather remote section of southern Arizona, play Kino Springs - the original ranch owned by Steward Grainger and Jean Simmons. The course offers some unique holes on the front side as you drawn near the Mexican border. Don't be fooled the simple layout of 15 through 18; with a little wind these holes can catch you by surprise. . . . . .18 in particular. Enjoy the setting ; the course plays well. Looking forward to the reopening of the bar and restaurant.
Best kept secret in Green Valley, Az.
Great staff, short drive from Green Valley. Kino is in the best shape it has been in for years. Great job Will play again soon.
Fun Course
The Kino Springs course is a fun layout. From the elevated green on the first hole to the blind tee shot on # 8, the holes each has their own challenging but playable character. Not knowing where to aim from the tee can hurt you on several of the holes. I really enjoy playing Kino Springs, but it usually kicks my but. The staff is the best. Friendly, courteous, and helpful, they really make you feel welcome.
Great Course...good value!!
Have been playing golf in southern AZ for 9 years and this is one of my favorites. Would join if it was closer. Great track...best greens I play on in this part of the country. Friendly staff.
Beware the canyons
One of my favorite courses in southern Arizona. A variety of terrain and great views all around. .
Down a Little
I always enjoy playing Keno Springs as the course offers nice variety and is always in good condition. It's worth the drive and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The conditions were good but a little down from past years (In past years they were the best in the area). We played very quickly as the ranger went out of his way to get us past several slow groups. I will definitely go back. Not a course for beginners.
Fun course for all
Kino never fails to make you think and strategize your every shot! This course requires management skills to know when to back off or go for it! My first round of golf ever played in my life was on this course back when it was opened and I still enjoy playing this course!
fun for the money
Everything good , except the lack food or alcohol beverage, that's why most people won't drive that far to play Kino and that's to bad.
Wonderful Course and great staff
We had a great time and the view is just superb. Course is in good condition. Can be very challenging when your in the canyon. Wish the place still had a bar and food.. Will definitely go there again...
Good for the value - Beautiful Setting
I've played the course a number of times and while it's been in better condition in the past it's still a pretty good value. Fairways are green but sparse and the greens are pretty good for Southern Arizona.
Pace of play was great because there weren't many other golfers on the course. Overall the Green Fees were about as good as it gets considering you may have to drive 30 to 45 min's. south of Tucson to get there. If you're looking for a leisurely round in a beautiful setting at a value price, and don't mind the drive or a course that's a little rough around the edges then you'll love this course.
Great place and great people
It is in good condition and the pace of play is great. We always enjoy our game and the fun of playing this wonderful and historic location. John Wayne spent lots of time down at the Kino Springs in the years past and he is still remembered fondly. Don't miss going to Abe's Bar in Carmen while you are in the area, well worth the stop and the historic stories.
Nice layout but needs some work
Was a long drive for the money. At one time a nice course, has some great history, John Wayne had a small ranch here. Lots of movie stars from the past.
Great Greens, Fun Layout, Friendly Staff
Greens are always great here, bent grass, smooth rolling. Great location and feel to the surroundings with friendly staff.
this course has great features and mountain views.
Been golfing there for years and it is well cared.Beautiful mountain views. Friendly staff. An addition of some food would be nice.
Great value, well run!
Good conditioning, some difficult holes that require thoughtful play. A great test and a great afternoon's fun.
Great place to play
It is hard not to have a good time at Kino Springs.
The scenery is spectacular. The course is well maintained.
Challenging but fair. Aim for the greens as they will hold.
The staff is about as friendly as you could possibly want.
If you don't have a good time there it is your own fault.
Hopefully they will get the restaurant up and running.
Kino Springs is worth the drive.
This course has a wonderful variety of holes. It is well maintained with a staff that truly appreciates your business. The course scenery is some of the best around. And to top it off, well priced with great pace of play. Looking forward to our next round.
this course has great views
tee boxes are rough and need more grass fill in. greens also need to fill in and cut shorter. Cart paths have been rough for years and need resurfaced. Golf carts are old and beat up. I do like the staff even though they can be unprofessional at times. Long ways to drive, but look forward to more golf at Keno.
Always a great course to play, fun and challenging
Kino Springs is a favorite of ours in the Southern Arizona area.
The course is in very good condition from the tee boxes to the fairways, and especially the greens….fast. Plus the manager even took the time to ride out to see how we were enjoying the course!
