Kino Springs Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2021.
Surrounded by acres of gently rolling hills studded with native mesquite and oak trees, Kino Springs Golf Course has a stunning location along the Santa Cruz River. Savvy birdwatchers know that it's a major flyway where you can see flycatchers, orioles, kingfishers, and grey hawks. The course is part of the historic Estancia Yerba Buena Ranch, which has hosted an impressive guest list over the years that includes John Wayne and Elizabeth Taylor. The golf course is player friendly enough for beginners but it has enough risk-reward opportunities to appeal to low handicappers. The opening holes play across open meadows but by the fifth hole you'll find yourself in canyon country. Mature pine trees frame Kino Springs Golf Course's last five holes but the views from the elevated tees stretch past the treetops to the scenic river.

A Beautiful Course
Kino Springs is a great course. It has a split personality though. Early and later holes are generally more level and straight away. The middle holes wind up into the surrounding hills and offer more interesting sight lines. Greens are well guarded by bunkers. The greens had been punched about 10 days ago but were coming back nicely. Another week and I'll be heading back for more golf on a very nice course. The middle holes offer up some to the nicest views to be had on any course.
Great layout
Kino Springs is a beautiful course in the desert. Most of the course you don't even see a house much less hear anything. The club house and accommodations are modest but the course is excellent.
Nice Tract
Played in 3 hrs., Nice layout. Saw one other twosome all day. Pro was extremely cordial. Cart guy was great..Everything was wonderful ..Greens were slow, recently punched and bumpy .. But should be great soon....All in all , a great experience ..
Treasure at Kino Springs
Much enjoyed this course of many slopes and valleys....greens were still lumpy from recent aeration. Errant shots result in lost balls here, but fairways are wide and very playable. Rolling hills and beautiful views enhance the experience. About an hour from Tucson, and worth the drive. This was once the playground of the Stars, owned by Stewart Granger and Jean Simmons.
great lay out
This is a well designed course with great views. If the roughs were in better condition this course would get much higher reviews. The greens were being aerated when we played on may 6th but it was still very enjoyable.
Incredible layout and fantasic greens.
Kino Springs is an absolute treasure. It is fun to play and very challenging from the back tees. This course operates on a tight budget but they find a way to have the truest and fastest greens in southern Arizona.
This course combines two different elevations in one course.
Great, fun course to play that is in great shape. The only thing lacking is the absence of an after round place to have a cocktail. Although the beverage cart on the course was pretty attentive.
Good Course, an interesting play.
Reviewing this course for the second time as Golfnow didn't accept my first I guess?
The course is far from it's prime but overall it is just as good as any other course south of Tucson.
Interesting holes through the middle of the round, although the 360 yd par 4's start getting monotonous.
Staff super friendly, and gave the impression they were happy to have you play their course.
Worth the trip at least once, give it a try.
A great setting. Fast greens.
We always enjoy driving down to Kino Springs from Green Valley.
The course is in good shape; greens are like greased lightning.
Too bad that the kitchen is closed.
We'll be back!
Unique and fun
The change in landscape and elevation are the most interesting aspects of this dandy track just north of Nogales, AZ. Our foursome of seniors were challenged right off the bat with a visually intimidating uphill (no, really; 200 feet up!) par five. Kino Springs has probably the most original set of short par 4 holes I have ever seen. None of these are more than 350 yards (white tees), but for challenging play, I'd put them up against all comers. The course amenities are showing their age, and the bar was closed the day we played, but the course showed evidence of good care- was well maintained. I'll return to try again- it was worth the trip and the price.
Great layout after the first couple holes.
Golf course is way off the beaten track but worthwhile drive to play it.
Canyon holes are narrow and make you think of your club selection before hitting. Golf carts old but ok, cart paths are in need of repair, but not a reason not to play this course.
Enjoyed my round and I drove over from Sierra Vista.
Nice Course
First time ever here...Drove from Tucson and found this a very nice, comfortable place to play...Great greens! Would recommend to anyone...
Start you out easy then hold on tight
I have played this course several times. It starts out fairly easy for the first four holes, and then you head into the hills and valleys. There are a couple of holes where you need to "hold on tight." The secenery is outstanding. The greens are fair, yet fast. The traps are full of sand. As you leave the hills and valleys, you go back to the "falts" to give your heart rate a chance to slow down. What a neat course!
enjoy the middle holes that are back in the hills.
Course is well maintained for the money and the staff was super friendly. Really enjoyed the day at Kino Springs.
It's good family and friendly place to play, but having a 6 some in front of you and a 5 some 3 carts behind us was screwie!!!
Don't understand having 6 people in front of us with three carts (men & women) and 5 guys with three carts behind of our 4 some. On hole number 3 one of us took a few mins. to find his ball and we played on. The 5 guys behind us had caught up and 6 in front had moved on. The marshall came in front the side and told us we need to get moving. This was uncalled for. By the time we got to the 4 hole we were waiting again. It was kind of back and forth all day. We had a good time, but we were waiting for the marshall to let him know just what is going on with all these people and carts.
Kino Springs is a challenging course that requires your best shots.
Kino Springs is truly a hidden gem. Twenty Five dollar green fees coupled with a ten dollar cart fee allows you to wind through challenging mountainous fairways ending on lightning fast greens. All well maintained and manicured. Truly an enjoyable golf outing that can be enjoyed by all skill levels. I look forward to returning.
Great Greens!
Fairways spotty and cart paths brutal. Gas carts with no wind screen. Middle nine holes in the hills very scenic and interesting. Worth the trip.
Nice location, okay condition, friendly people and some difficult holes.
Hilly terrain, thin grass and windy conditions made some of the holes difficult. Nice variety of holes but did not like the second par 5 on the front side as the landing area for the drive was small and the traffic around the t-box was crowded. Cart attendant and his dog were a joy. Price was okay. Pace was very slow as many people were looking for their balls. Three stars at best.
some of the fastest greens you'll see in southern Az.
Kino Springs has some very friendly golf holes coupled with spot on target golf. The greens had to register 14 on the stemp meter. Unfortunately, we had 30 + MPH winds the day we played and if your putt was up hill and against the wind, you're putt could be blown back to you and right off the green. Under windy conditions, make sure you're putt gets to the hole. No matter, you need to play this course once just to experience the greens.
