Kino Springs Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2021.
Surrounded by acres of gently rolling hills studded with native mesquite and oak trees, Kino Springs Golf Course has a stunning location along the Santa Cruz River. Savvy birdwatchers know that it's a major flyway where you can see flycatchers, orioles, kingfishers, and grey hawks. The course is part of the historic Estancia Yerba Buena Ranch, which has hosted an impressive guest list over the years that includes John Wayne and Elizabeth Taylor. The golf course is player friendly enough for beginners but it has enough risk-reward opportunities to appeal to low handicappers. The opening holes play across open meadows but by the fifth hole you'll find yourself in canyon country. Mature pine trees frame Kino Springs Golf Course's last five holes but the views from the elevated tees stretch past the treetops to the scenic river.

Very well maintained.
The staff has done a great job on the course. The greens were especially nice and fast!
Greens putted true but tough
A 45 minute drive from Green Valley but worth the price
and play was better than around Green Valley.
The staff was excellent.
Surprising course in very good condition
Really enjoyed playing this course. Good to very good condition with relatively challenging holes. Highly recommend for players of all skill levels.
Hidden treasure
This course is one of my favorites. Well maintained, challenging, but fun. Views, fast but true greens, great fairways. If you've never played here I highly recommend you do.
Not in its prime, but a great layout.
Has lots of really nice terrain which provides challenges for a variety of shots - draws, fades, forced carries, side hills, risk-reward, etc. Your driver better be working and your irons reasonably accurate if you want to score. Greens were in good+ condition. I've played 9 courses in the Green Valley/Tubac/Nogales area in the past 2 weeks and this course was the most interesting and scenic. While not in its prime, it is in same or better condition than other course in the area I've played, and the best architectural layout of all. Warning: When you arrive, don't be fooled by the austere appearance of the pro shop and driving range. Step onto #1 blue tee for a glance of what is ahead - par 5 with 50 ft drop from tee to fairway, forced carry over a lake, to a fairway that doglegs right. As already noted, your driver better be working today. Game on!
Kino Springs Golf enjoyable.
Play is at good pace. Greens putt true and in great shape, players repairing ball marks well. sand is good and churned. fairways green and a bit thin but good lies. Tee boxes good for most part, some need a bit of leveling.
Excellent Value! Great views and fabulous condition.
Our foursome played Kino this week for the first time. Found it to be in one of the best conditons of any course in the Green Valley/Nogales area. Fairways lush and greens in excellent shape. What a nice surprise. Best value around. Only complaint was that there was no full service restaurant/bar to sit and enjoy the views after out game.
Pretty, quirky course in good shape
Fun course. Flat and wide open opening and closing holes, mountainous and tricky middle holes. Good fairways and greens.
Course is in very good shape
The course is in really good shape. The fairways are solid and the greens are in great shape and quick. The nice thing here is that they didn't set their first tee times early expecting frost delays, so the wait was minimal.
the course was fun to play
Course was more diddicult to play on the back side.
It's alright .... I wouldn't rate as a "hidden gem."
The course was in good condition, very friendly staff. Some tee boxes are next to greens, was almost hit by a tee shot.
A Great unpretentious Southwestern Golf Course!
When you arrive in the parking lot of Kino Springs you are greeted by a friendly cart attendent with your cart who will help you load if you desire. For the time of year & hard freezes we had just gone thru Kino Springs was in great shape. The greens were in particularly good shape running fast & true. There are great elevation changes in the middle 8 or 9 holes going up into the mountains and then back down. The course pro/ manager was out on the course & stopped & spoke with us about our experience on the course. There is a genuine feeling of concern & friendliness by everyone. We saw several different groups of deer that were not at all concerned by our presence. After the round thre is an attendent greeting you, asking about your round & offering to clean your clubs & assist in putting your clubs in your car with out the feeling of them only there for a tip. Go visit you'll love the Golf, the sceanery & the ambiviance of the Southwest.
Nice course, play is pushed though.
This is a good course value. Not for beginners. Several holes with blind shots, so playing after the first time would be much more enjoyable. Take plenty of water with you as there is not much on the course. Play is pushed over safety; I will not hit into people just to "stay in contact" with the group in front.
nice weather, great views
Course in good shape, but the cart paths are a little bumpy. The greens are very fast as usual. Great views of wildlife including a hawk in the 6th hole. Also great views of the surrounding mountains particularly those in Mexico from the 8th hole. Played in 3 1/2 hrs on Christmas eve.
Great value, fun course
Kino Springs is located in a beautiful part of southern Arizona, fantastic views everywhere. Course is kept in nice condition, especially the bunkers. They actually have sand unlike so many courses these days. Many side hill lies, tight fairways at times although short at 6500 yards from the tips. Don't let this fool you, carries a slope rating of 131. I personally just love playing at Kino.
course was in great shape.
I haven't played this course in 12-15 years. It has improved. It is in great shape! My brother and I had a great time on this course on 12/10/2012! Keep it up! We will be back!
Kino is always fun and in great shape.
Two thirds of holes are interesting and challenging. Somehow on a small budget the course is kept in great shape. Greens are smaller but always in excellent condition, fast, and challenging. It's worth the trip.
Kino Spring worth the trip
Kino Springs is a very nice course. The greens are fast and in great shape. T-boxes and fairways in good condition.
great greens and traps
one of the best public courses in AZ and always getting better.
Best Conditions of courses in the area.
This course is perfect for those that want a challenge. Wayward shots are heavily penalized. The greens are fast and true with a minimum of damage due to ball marks. Compliments to the staff on the fairways, greens and traps.
