Peaks at Tonto Verde Golf Club
About
The Tonto Verde Golf Club offers two uniquely testing 18-hole championship golf courses, each featuring marvelous vistas, smack dab in the middle of the Arizona desert, which have earned honors for their design and playability. The golf courses were designed by David Graham and Gary Panks, who kept the features created by nature when they put together the Peaks golf course, which measures 6,744 yards.
The two golf courses at the Tonto Verde Golf Club feature desert-style target-golf designs, but the designers ensured that golfers of all levels would be able to play them.
The Peaks golf course at the Tonto Verde Golf Club is laid out shorter and skinnier from the tees than its sibling, the Ranch golf course; however, it doesn't offer any less of a challenge for golfers of all levels.

Great conditions
This place is a nice spot to play, and I have been trying to golf out here for a while. It's about 45 minutes drive out from the airport. There's a "mini golf" place that I'd like to check out sometime if I'm ever out there again. Just picture mini golf but with real grass. Beyond that everything you need for a great round is there. No complaints with the course. Awesome views of the mountains.
Lack of yardgage info.
The course was great. When we checked in with the starter I inquired if info was available about the yardage carries to and past the numerous bunker and desert hazards. He said they didn't have yardage cards. Just saying.
Beautiful course,
My son and I played the Ranch course at Tonto Verde and had a great time. It's a nice course in a n absolutlely beautiful setting - moutains in the background for most holes. We played in the afternoon, had a good rate, not many people on the course. The only drawback may be its location - took us 40 minutes to get there from Scottsdale. Worth the drive - I'd do it again.
Tonto Verde Ranch is a great course
Tonto Verde Ranch is in outstanding condition. The fairways are beautiful and quite generous, altho' I did manage to hit two out of bounds. The greens are huge and in perfect condition. The mountain vistas are amazing. There are washes that you have to negotiate on at least 7 holes. The bunkers are very big. They have excellent practice facilities and even an 18 hole putting course that is very challenging. I highly recommend this course and would love to play it again.
Nice Facility, Good Conditions
Course is always maintained nicely. It was running a little fast this weekend. Good twilight rate. Course was busy, but still finished in 4 hrs.
Basically a private club, that open a few times times up to non-members.
Great Greens
The Ranch 18 is well conditioned; the greens are as good as any in the valley- a real treat to play.
Don't play in the scramble
We didn't realize we were signing up for a scramble. Were supposed to tee off at 8:30, but delayed until 9. Our foursome (for 9 holes, then threesome) finished 18 in 4 hours. Marshals came by at least every second to third hole urging us to play faster, and originally told us we would have to finish playing at 3 hours even though we might not have completed 18 holes. As we finished our 15th hole in 3 hrs. 15 min, the final marshal again told us we definitely had to be off the course at 1. Why tell us when we were ahead in time and had only 3 holes left to play. ( Their posted suggested time to play 18 is 4 hours 20 minutes.) I've been playing since age 10. I've never seen so many marshals in one round in my life. The course is excellent, the staff very courteous, and we'll play there again. But.....they need to abandon the scramble. It makes the entire enterprise look worse than it is.
Awesome
Awesome course. Great bang for the buck. Worth the drive.
Just a great course
Played this course for the first time and was very impressed. The practice facilities are first rate and the views are spectacular. It is somewhat of a desert course, but with fairways wide enough to not spend the day in the desert. Course conditions were amazing. Fairways were absolutely the best I have played in the valley.
After we played, we stayed for dinner. The staff and restaurant were great and the food equally so. I would highly recommend this course.
Peaceful course
Worth the drive so make a day of it Lunch and all you can hit balls before or after your round. Practice range includes sand trap and multilevel green for short game practice
Worth the Senic drive to get there !
great experience, paired with 3 other visitors of varied skill levels. Best course conditions for the "Peaks" course I have experienced!
Pace of play not really supervised and groups of "twosomes" were allowed affecting pace of play!
Restaurant /Bar area is 1st class with friendly servers...... some club members were overheard complaining about "outsiders", but the added revenue generated is needed by the club to enable the wonderfull course conditions!
nice course
Played the Ranch course. Not overly difficult or long but still plenty to challenge. Conditions were outstanding. Fairways and greens best I've seen this week. Gorgeous views! Will go back asap
Excellent challenge
Played the Ranch course which is very similar to the Peaks but with much better views and more of an open space feel. Tee shots are visually challenging as the fairway's are very narrow and balls can easily run off into strategically positioned bunkers. Approach shots are made easier by very large greens. The greens rolled well with medium speed. As a single digit golfer, I appreciate the challenge of course management at the Ranch.
Great views
Gorgeous we'll maintained and great pace of play!.
Nice one time but...
It is a long drive to get there but they have a beautiful clubhouse and friendly staff making arrival very pleasant. We enjoyed perfect weather and a very well maintained course with very fast greens. I found the course layout only moderately challenging and was very annoyed when I could not get a hot dog at the turn (without waiting 10 min) Overall I enjoyed my outing but would not return - I just do not want to drive 45min (or more) for an average experience.
The course was in great shape!
Challenging, narrow and well manicured fairways. The greens were in impeccable condition. A bit of a drive into the country but certainly worth the trip.
Beautiful Day, Great Golf Course
Excellent value for an afternoon round. Little bit of a drive, but worth it. Course condition very good.
Course is fun, good condition
Tonto Verde courses are in very good conditions generally. Pace can b a bit slow but not awful. Price is quite good for quality of courses.
A great golf experience
Tonto Verde is a really nice golf course and was in great condition; it's tough but fair!
Awesome course!!
This course is fantastic. Has lots of challenges but it is in very good condition. This facility is one of the nicest in AZ.
