SunRidge Canyon Golf Club

About
SunRidge Canyon Golf Club provides adventure amid natural terrain over 6,823 yards of par-71 golf. The golf course was laid out by the golf course architect Keith Foster, who hid the golf course in the ridges and canyons of the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, one of the last untouched bastions of the Southwestern United States.
The SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's signature hole is the 17th, and it is unique, giving golfers the option of shooting a 209-yard, par 3 over a box canyon today and then going for a 152-yard par 3 from an elevated tee tomorrow. Foster discovered the elevated-tee opportunity during a tour of the golf course while it was being constructed and added the Canyon set of tees right then. The vistas he knew golfers would get were enough to convince Foster to set up the second set of tees.
After a round of golf at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, head back to the Ridge Room, which attracts visitors and locals for the great view and Southwestern cuisine.

Didn’t enjoy for the price
One of the priciest in F Hills; could’ve gotten better in south Phoenix for $40.
Not fair to the golfer
I think it is an unfair golf course. You get a great shot and when you look for the ball it has ended up in the desert. Th hills favor going in the desert. Won t play it again.
Disappointed
Course layout was great. Tough and fun. Fairways were good. Greens are worse than my home course that's 40 to play. Was told day of that a temporary green on hole 3 when I called a week prior to verify conditions and that wasn't a part of it. Was told immaculate shape. For $90, this course right now is barely worth 50. Traveled 2 hours to play a 2 star course for 90? Pathetic.
Horrible, Overpriced Track
One of the worst courses you can play in Arizona for the price. Fairways and greens are dead, they have track marks on the fair way from when they cut/seed the grass, and they will over charge you the whole way. This is a track you should only pay $20-$30 for in the summer, but they will happily charge you $80 for no reason. The #3 hole had a false green in the middle of the fairway that was 40 yards short of the pin, and they still charged normal prices. If you are looking for a good track in Fountain Hills, go to Eagle Mountain or We-Ko-Pa. They will charge you much more reasonable rates, and the course will actually be in playable conditions. Horrible course, wouldn’t recommend anyone to play here.

Greens are good
The course is undergoing quite a bit of maintenance. The greens were great, the fairways were pretty standard for summer in Arizona. Hole number 3 had a temporary green, I didn’t find out until my approach shot was way beyond the temp green. The course is worth playing at the summer price.
Wicked for sure
Beautiful property with a beautiful layout. Very challenging but fair. One of the best courses in the valley without a doubt. Bring your A game.
Course is way overpriced and not in good shape, won't be back
Give it a month
Greens not in good shape since recently punched and sanded. No. 3 green is temporary. Needs some time to come back.
SunRidge Canyon
Staff were very friendly. Kudos to the Lounge Manager. She was fantastic!
Overpriced, Not In Good Condition, No Concern About Pace Of Play
So many issues with this course, you should not play it.
The price of $182. I played Tonto Verde (country club course), 20 minutes away for $120 and in great condition. With this hefty price, I expect a lot from a course. It did not come close to delivering what the price suggested.
On the first tee, the starter had the longest spiel about the course and how important pace of play is. Pace of play was awful. Between hole 13-14, a ranger sitting there eating his chips and ignoring the back-up of players.
Numerous greens with bad sections. Holes 2, 3, 4, 9 & 13.
The fairways were not good either. Hard to tell where the rough/fairway line was. A mixture of numerous grasses and many burnt out areas.
The tee markers were not distinctive with their color scheme. Hard to determine what color each tee was. We never found the white tees on hole 4.
We had a difficult time finding the white tees on the par 3, 17th hole. A beautiful hole. However, a sign said the yardage is to the red flag from the white tees. What? Yes, a par 3 with 2 different flags. The forward tees play to the other colored flag. Such a beautiful hole, ruined my 2 flags on a green. Never seen this ever in my golfing career.
The only postive things about this course were the tee boxes and they had a nice set of par 3's. Do not waste your time playing this course.
overall cool desert golf
fun not for high handicap golfers. unless you want to loose lots of balks
Slow greens
Course conditions ok but greens were slow. Out side service was bad. My wife tipped the guy and he ran a rag over putter and did not help her putting bags in car. He was busy going to next group to wipe down their putters and get his tip!
Disappointment for what was a 1st class course
I had not played this course for 5 years as the cost to play has been running very high for the past few years. It was my favorite course for 15 years over the past 20 years. I thought it ranked in the top 3-4 courses in all of the Phoenix Valley. It was challenging, it was unique, it was classy and it was well looked after.
This time around i was so disappointed with the general condition of the playing course and particularly the greens. They were poor for such a course and the prices they demand. Even the staff ranked the greens as poor when i asked what was up with the super poor/ damaged looking putting greens.
Many other areas were dry and the driving range looked like a moon landscape..
To who ever is running that course. you have the bones of an excellent track and location - time to do your job properly and get this gem polished up.
i was surprized to see there were many tee times that we not filled and very sparse that day at a time in the valley with baseball that all things are busy. I guess the word is out.
Sorry I have to say this about a place I loved.
DISSAPPOINTED
Wow
They up charge you for water fee upon payment / or you can walk for the fee / slim shady / layout is one of my favorite/ single ownership over the years is looking to squeeze to recoup is my guess - shame - greens needs help but under repair - the water fee the charge while the fairways are cement as well as traps are lite on sand so be prepared to blade the trap shots - true shame as one of the best tracks in the valley that I have played as a local for 20 plus years but has lost it’s way v fee they charge.
I don’t write reviews but the entire experience I welcome the board of one / ownership to reach out to me for a complete review of our experience.
Great condition and views
Great day. You first play your way down into valley and last 6 holes all uphill going back up. Was a great day.
Terrible greens
The greens had many bare spots. The bare spots were covered with green colored sand. The fairways were also in rough shape. The bunkers also were also lacking sand.
