Great course for the short game!
Although the holes on the White and Blue courses weren't terribly long, having knowledge of the course is a definite to keep out of trouble. Great course for long and short irons and to work out your issues with the 3/Fairway-woods. Lots of holes the 19-20 degree hybrids were made for. I was lucky to play with two locals who helped with course management as well as helping me enjoy the round. Clubhouse facilities were excellent; great food and even friendlier staff. Top it off with a fantastic view of the Shenandoah Mountains and it made for a great day!
Fun course to play!
I used the senior tees and had 90-120 yards to the greens. How nice to be able to hit greens from these distances. I usually play courses that range from 5700 to 5800 yards. This is 300 yards shorter than I usually play. Greens and fairways are in great shape. I will return to play here when I am in the area. Next time I will try the white tees and I am sure it will be a true challenge.
Beautiful scenery.
Used to play this track alot 15 years ago. It is still in excellent shape and as beutiful as ever ..missed Mickey, though (the starter)
Great value
I live out of astate but come to this course every year and it never disappoints. Great value and the employees are very helpful and cordial. It is still early in the year and the course was not in the condition it will be but no complaints considering.
Beautiful mountain views
fairly easy course to play, with 27 holes its fast, staff extremly friendly, beautiful mountain views,
Good course, good pace, good time.
Great condition considering the time of year. Greens were harder to figure than normal. Course offers some interesting hole layouts. Some up, some down and some flat. I very much like this course. You can score well if you're under control.
Well maintained Old School course.
On warm January day, we adjusted quickly to the dormant greens were dormant on this 27-hole course. Even in winter the course (and the clubhouse, with an excellent grill), is visually appealing. It was uncrowded, and we three finished leisurely under 4 hours. Depending which 9s are played, the longest tees are 6,300 yards. There are virtually no water hazards, but the tree-lined fairways are narrow and sometimes hilly. The driving range and putting green are adequate. If I lived closer, I'd consider some sort of membership; as it is, it is an easy 60-mile drive on Interstate 66 from Northern Virginia.
The coures was fun and in great condition for off-season play.
I arrived at the course 20 minutes prior to my tee time, and was nicely greeted by the starter. The Pro Shop staff was very friendly and professional. I was able to complete my round of golf on a steady pace, and finished in just under 3.5 hours. The course was in great shape for January, and the greens were fast and true. A nice change of pace, and the scenery was wonderful.
Course was in great shape especially for December
Have always enjoyed playing this course and will continue to play here.
Nice Place to Play
The course was in very good condition, fairways are wide on most holes, greens were well maintained. The rough was just high enough to make you look harder to find your ball in most areas. This was only reason we had to wait a few times to tee off so the group ahead could locate there shots. We played the white/blue course. Always a nice place to play in the fall.
Wel conditioned with beautiful views
I have played this course several times a year for the last 10 years and always find it worth the 1 hour and 15 minute drive. The price is a bargain and the course is unfailingly in good condition. While not especially long and without a single water hazard, it offers difficulty through a penal rough, elevation changes, tree-lined fairways, some blind shots, sand bunkers, and several tee shots that require accuracy through a narrow opening to avoid trees on both sides of the initial line of flight. The folks there are friendly, the views of the valley and surrounding mountains are serene, and there is a snack bar offering good food and beverages. You'll like it.
Good course with 27 holes. Greens are undulating and tricky.
This is a nice course to play when in the Shenandoah Valley. It has three separate 9-hole courses (Red, White, and Blue) so it is usually not too difficult to get out even without a tee time. Fairways are very forgiving but the greens require a gentle touch with a good read. The staff here will make you feel welcome.
Beautiful course and facility
This 27 hole course is the gem of the Northern Virginia area. Well maintanined, maincured fairways and greens, accomodating staff and beautiful facility make this course a pleasure to play and a fun day. Staff is friendly and accomodating. Practice area, putting green, restaurant and all at a GREAT price. Can't say enough nice things about Shenandoah Valley.
