Terrible Course conditiions
I have usually loved this course over the years but this weekend was by far the worst shape it has ever been in. The fairways were pretty much dirt. I don't know what happened but I'd rather play out of the rough as it was actually green and had grass. I attached a picture to show what they looked like. I've played my fair share of bad courses but they cost $20, not $55. I won't be back unless they fix whatever issue they have going on.
Not Worth 50 Bucks
First time and last time playing this course. The range is too tight and is right next the the first hole of the Blue Nine and White Nine. Anyone who shanks or hooks a ball on the range could hit a player as there is no net on either side of the range. The fairways on the White Nine are very patchy and feel like concrete so my playing group spent our time trying to hit the rough in order to have some grass to work with. The bunkers are just full of clay and no sand which is just laziness. You might as well hit off the cart path and get the same effect. The greens had more bumps than a school zone, your putts will not roll true. For a golf course to charge 50 bucks a person during 'peak' Friday time is a rip off due to the course conditions. I can pay the same price and play at Blue Ridge Shadows which is a much better maintained golf course.
Play it soon.
The course is in good condition for winter. Much of the fairway grass is spotty. The owner has purchased the golf course across the street (Bowling Green) and has asked to build 286 homes on this site. So, if you want to play here, do it now before it is gone.
Turn,turn,turn
For the time of the season, the course was in nice shape. A gorgeous day in February turned frustrating after playing nine on the white course. When we made the turn to play the second nine on the Blue course, we had to wait over 30 minutes as four other groups and a twosome teed off. We had to wait on every tee box and our second nine took 3.5 hours.
Shenandoah Valley GC - a nice walking course
SVGC has 3 9-hole "courses" so even if you start early, you could be behind someone on the turn. However, the course is open, people don't need to look for balls long, and tees are near the previous hole greens.
Great course!
They assigned the red and white courses. A quiet afternoon so never had to wait at a hole to tee off. Course is in very good shape and always pleasant staff.
Very nice course!
They have 3 courses 9 holes each and before you head out they tell you which courses you will be playing (I did the red and white). Both courses very well maintained and the greens were fast! Nice wide fairways. Pro shop staff very friendly!
Update Course Calendar
Let's start off with the good. The staff was great, and the course was in great condition. I booked a tee time for my wife and I on 9/25/2022 around 8am. We showed up and paid for the round and headed off to see the starter. I was informed at this time due to a members shotgun start at 9am we would only be allowed to play the "Red" course (9 holes twice). We had no options since we already paid for the round.
The "Red" course was not very challenging, and my wife and I finished in under two hours. We left after playing 9 holes and not in the mood to simply replay the same holes again. Prior to booking our round I checked the golf course calendar and no mention of an event scheduled for 9/25/22. I'm writing this to warn other golfers the course may assign them to play the same 9s without any warning prior to you showing up to the course.
My wife and I live in Manassas and drove two hours (around trip) to play this course. Will not be returning.
Like the course but poor play management
I've played this course twice before and had great experiences. This time was horrible due to a tournament going on in the morning. Tee boxes for general play were stacked due to weaving in players coming off their front 9. There was no real relief privided by Marshals but honestly not sure what they could have done. Really wish i would have known of the tournament before booking.. It took 6 hours to play 18 which will always make you grumpy.
Labor Day
Great course, staff was great, gave it a 4 for course condition bec they are changing the fairways over to bermuda. (I think) and that is just on one of the three 9 hole courses. Don’t let that stop you from going. It is still very good and will be outstanding when it grows in completely.
