Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
About
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club offers the traditional links course reminiscent of those found in the British Isles, situated amidst Virginia's horse country. The club gets its name from the land's former use, a raspberry field. The scenic terrain overlooks to Catoctin Mountains and there are still a few raspberry bushes dotting the course. By far the layout's most formidable challenges come from the deep, stacked pot bunkers that make it truly feel like a classic Scottish golf course. There are also water hazards on a few holes. The course's signature is the par-4 third hole, which is long but plays downhill all the way. The 10th hole, another par 4, is one of the toughest. The landing area is generous off the tee but there is a creek and pond to the left and fairway bunkers on the right.

Awesome
Place was in great conditions. Greens were SLICK which made it a fun challenge to land the ball near the hole. Fairways and greens were great! A few tee boxes from the tips were patchy but most tee boxes were great. Links style play. I'm playing here again this week this place was one of my favorites of the year. If you find a deal on this it's THE BEST VALUE for your money. I don't know how this course doesn't have 5 stars all around
Great design and Layout. Poor condition.
Very poor condition. Needs significant Turf Management. Greens in poor shape. Bunkers inconsistent sand/clay. Natural grass areas loaded with dead weeds.
Paying for the Location and Design is OK, but for $70 a round, should have been in much better condition.
Raspberry Falls is touted as one of the best courses in the area. Seems to live up to this ranking. Beautiful vistas from hole 2 and 3.
Played late on Sunday 10/27/13, beautiful day, course is in good shape. Greens in good shape. Some holes have deep bunkers so try to stay away from that hazard. You have to play this course just to say you were there at least once. You will probably come back if you can. Somewhat expensive. I will come back for a 4th visit.
Beautiful course
I would definitely play again. They had aerated part of the course so it was a little rough. The rain last week really helped the course. The greens were very challenging, fast. The staff was helpful, the clubhouse very nice. The practice facility had a lot of wear which was surprising considering how nice everything else was.
Great lay out always a good challenge.
Was in excellent shape since 6 inches of rain had fallen in the past week. Greens were great, quick yet fair.
A must play for golfers of all levels.
Challenging sand traps throughout the course
Course in very good conditions with breathtaking views. Distances appear to be decieving, but overall a great experience.
Excellent but challenging course! Great experience!
The greens are quick, the fairways are forgiving, but golf management is a must on this picturesque course. With a fantastic clubhouse and excellent and complimentary practice facilities, this course is one that you will need to play a couple of times (to score at least). The club workers could lose the stupid vests and bow-ties, but they were friendly and attentive.
I will play this course again in an effort to score somewhat decently on this challenging track.
The only negative thing I can say is that you cannot walk this course due to the fact that the holes are so spread out. I prefer to walk in order to take in the sights and walk up and hit as opposed to driving up and waiting to hit.
Used to be much better
I have played here a couple times in years past. Outside staff had cute little outfits on with bow ties. However, it took about fifteen minutes to find an outside service person which ate into warm up and range time. Many of the tee boxes were in horrible shape and the rough was spotty. The bunkers looked inconsistent and some had hardly any sand. Cosmetically the bunkers looked poor. Greens were nice and fairways for the most part. If it wasn't for the golfnow price of 35.00 I would have been outraged for the experience I had. I think the normal price here is 105.00 and not nearly worth it. It looked like a business that wants to decorate things like the attire while letting the important stuff like the course turned for the worse. I'm a two handicap and won't be going back.

Large Friendly Fairways, greens firm and fast
Beautiful course, large friendly landing areas on the fairways, greens were firm and fast but true. Scoring opportunities abound. Love the Rasberry Trail courses !
One of the nicest courses I've played in Northern VA
Got a superb deal on Golfnow.com, first time I've played this course and I was super impressed. Staff was great, course was in really nice shape. Definitely one of the top courses I've played in NOVA, I liked it better than Trump, Belmont CC, and almost as much as River Creek CC
Best course I've played
I've played for thirty years . I'm a average golfer @ best . Took a friend with me who is better than me. We really had hoped to get out by ourself's , but was teamed with a member of the club who's name is Hugh(sorry,no last name).Hugh was a great ambassador for your club.He took time before we got started to figure out which tees we should be using and although he was playing from yellow he suggested we play from the wht's(he was spot on). Your course is great and with a super big "SHOUT OUT" to "HUGH" we had a great time . THANK YOU so much !!!
Great Course!
I have played Raspberry a few times. Once again, my expectations were exceeded by the friendly staff, great looking course and decent pace of play.
Great Course victim of poor etiquette...
Golf course is an awesome layout, and was in decent shape. Some of the tee boxes are in rough shape from the moisture, and there are a lot of unsanded divots, but overall it was very playable. Greens were amazingly true, you just have to fix all the ball marks before you can putt it, which is truly a shame. Just because you paid to play it doesn't mean that someone is following you around to clean up after you!
Terrific experience.
Great course, with enough tee choices to handle all skill levels. Greens are fast and challenging. Bunkers are deep, but very playable. Staff is super friendly. Practice area is top notch. We had a great time. Play was very slow due to an outing. However, management gave each member of our group 2 for 1 coupons to help ease the pain. The Raspberry Falls experience is super. Put it on your play list.
Great course with special pricing
We always look for the 'specials' on this course as it is always fun to play and in great shape. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The course is always in great shape. Highly recommend it for play. One of the top 5 in this area.
Poor condition but still fun to play.
I've always tried to play here at least once a year even though it is far from the DC area. It was a fun and challenging course to play. I was, however, a little disappointed in the condition of the course. The greens and roughs were pretty beat up. Maybe it's because we are near the end of the golfing season. The pace of play was a slow. But then there isn't a course in N. VA. that isn't slow on a Friday. Maybe that explains the course condition.
.
As usual, Raspberry doesn't disappoint. Fairways and greens in great shape, (wish I hit more of them!) some tees could use a bit of help. Overall still the best course in the area, on the expensive side but Golf Now helped with that.
Hit 'em straight!
Great Views, Challenging, Could Be Great
First time playing the course, did not get the golf now Rate so I paid the afternoon rate of $85 or so which I was fine with but the two people we were playing with paid $35 through Golf Now. I was kind of annoyed simply because of the HUGE difference in rates we paid. I understand I should pay more directly through the course, but almost double?! c'monnn.
Had a vew very nice elevated tee shots with great views (See Photos#. Course was nice, but could have been great with more tender love and care. Lots of diviots on the fairways that were not repaired #i think due to very soft fairfways), some of the greens had burn out spots on them, and some of the tee boxes was like hitting out of patchy rough.
Best Public course in NoVa
Easily the best public course in Northern VA. Fairways are beautiful bent grass carpets. Greens are fast and true. The only tee box problems are on the two holes that are cut into the shady mountain side. But who cares -- you're probably hitting your driver off a tee anyway. A few sandtraps could use more sand, but we've had a lot of rain this summer which washes away the sand. I've played twice this summer around 12:50 on a weekday afternoon and have finished in under 3.5 hours -- and that's playing from the golds.
best course in northern virginia
best course in the northern virginia area, driver's paradise-wide open fairways. great views
