Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
About
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club offers the traditional links course reminiscent of those found in the British Isles, situated amidst Virginia's horse country. The club gets its name from the land's former use, a raspberry field. The scenic terrain overlooks to Catoctin Mountains and there are still a few raspberry bushes dotting the course. By far the layout's most formidable challenges come from the deep, stacked pot bunkers that make it truly feel like a classic Scottish golf course. There are also water hazards on a few holes. The course's signature is the par-4 third hole, which is long but plays downhill all the way. The 10th hole, another par 4, is one of the toughest. The landing area is generous off the tee but there is a creek and pond to the left and fairway bunkers on the right.

Worth Every Penny
If you are looking for a premium-level public golf course, this is the best in the area. The staff and facilities are top-notch, as are the course conditions. Some might prefer slightly faster greens but they are by no means slow and might help your score, which is good because this course can be very challenging.
No other public course has as high a quality of landscape as Raspberry Falls. From the fairways to the greens, rough, bunkers, hazards and cart paths, you will not find a more pristine setup. If you find a good GN deal for this course (I paid $32 the last time I played) you won't walk away disappointed no matter your score. If you live within 50 miles of Leesburg, this course is worth the trip.
the reputation precedes it
Great course. Spread out over quite a bit of real estate. Well maintained, greens are fast, fairways wide, tee shots are relatively easy, fairway irons and putts are the challenge. It was challenging for my first time. Will def come back.
Hallmark Standard
Raspberry is always enjoyable. Price is steep before 11, as there typically aren't any discounted tee times. Pace was super slow on the front, but the marshalls got it moving on the back.
My only criticism of Raspberry is the course doesn't draw any sort of imagination to your shot making. Everything is pretty much straight shooting and carry. Trees never come into play so there aren't any hooks, cuts, or punches required.
Loved it!
Great Course, Super long from the Blacks but plenty of room to go for it..
Scenery was also very nice..
Could be better....
GREAT layout, challenging but fair. They need to roll the greens so they all have the same feel. Several we're bumpy and had signs or poorly repaired ball marks.
Beverage cart girl was nice and we saw her 3X, food from inside was awful. Save your $$$ and eat somewhere else after your round. I think RF gets by on reputation, so there's little incentive to make it better. Not terrible, but it could be spectacular.....
Nice Layout
Played in late May and the course was in good shape overall (it won't look like this in July or August). We've had plenty of rain in the area and this allows the fairways and greens to recover from play. I had not played this course in 10+ years and it was pretty much the way I remembered it. It's meant to invoke the look of a links with the many mounds and pot bunkers (more on those in a minute). The greens were a little fast but putted true even with all the unrepaired ball marks. I guess for the regular rate of $105 (we paid $40 GolfNow rate), players feel they don't have to fix ball marks. C'mon folks, act like real golfers and fix your mark plus one or two more while you wait to putt. As for the pot bunkers, I can say that they need some work. Most of the original stacked sod on the faces has fallen down and has not been replaced so what you see from the fairway is the red clay soil of Northern VA. I don't imagine this is what Gary Player was thinking when laying out the course. Other than the ball marks and the no-longer-stacked sod bunkers, the round was enjoyable and I would play again for $40 (but not for $105).
It's a great course but needs a lot more attention.
Disappointed overall. All of the water coolers were empty on a very hot day and no bev cart. A few tee boxes looked like poorly maintained yards. The sand traps need to be cleaned of weeds and grass and require fresh sand. Ball marks all over the greens. I love the lay out of the course but it needs some work to get it to a great playable course in NOVA. I will hesitate to play it again soon.
Great course, but tournament the day we played
Raspberry Falls golf course is one of the nicest courses in the Washington D.C. area. I try to play there at least 4 times a year. Price is a bit expensive. I played on a day there was a tournament and it ended up taking 5 plus hours. It was a friend and I that were not paired with anyone. We would wait a good 15 minutes to tee off each hole. Of course, with tournament play, you get the guys and girls that play once or twice a year. Some of the tee boxes were not well maintained. Other than that, one of my favorite courses.
No GPS
I was a bit surprised the carts do not have GPS. The greens needed some work and the pace of play on Memorial day was horrible. I teed off at 2:06pm, but started 30 min late and play was over 5 hours. No marshalls out on the course to keep it moving...just slow. Always a challenging course and in good shape.
Raspberry Falls - Top Destination
As always, Raspberry Falls is a top destination for a top shelf golfing experience.
Course has no character.
I was disappointed in the character of the course. One hole looks just like the last one. Rough was 3 to 4 inches thick and near impossible to play out of. The greens were the nicest part of the whole course! Staff, from inside of pro shop to the starter to the cart girl, were exceptionally friendly. I feel the course is way over priced!5/
What a great course
This was a wonderful course, great lines and very challenging. The only downfall would be the pace of play which was a little slow.
Solid Course
Raspberry is one the best daily fee courses in the DC area. Course was in great shape but lots of mowed grass laying around. Seems like that is always the case out there. Guess they have to wait several days after a rain to mow. One of the biggest negatives with Raspberry is no half way house and you can't really go by Clubhouse at the turn. Very fun course to play though.
Great twilight deals for a great course
Each time Ive played here I've played discounted golf, most recently found a deal for a 4:20p tee time and finished my round in a little less than 3 hours, for $19. The course is always in great shape, greens are fast, staff is friendly. The clubhouse isn't amazing, but there is a good practice facility. Beautiful course.
very challenging and beautiful views
enjoy the course along with the pratice area. staff is very friendly and helpful. wished more golfers played it forward, course plays longer than the yardage indicates
Great course in very good condition. Pace of play was a killer though.
The course was in great condition and even though it had been raining most of the day, there were only a couple holes that were cart path only. Rain stopped on #7, there was never any build up of water, the course must really drain well. My only criticism is the pace of play. Over 5 hours to play and never saw a ranger or other employee trying to speed things up.
Not worth the money.
Nice layout but a little tattered around the edges. The greens were bumpy and in poor condition - a lot of patches of Poa Anna. Not sure this course is worth the money, especially considering all the other choices in N.VA. Since Raspberry Management runs a number of courses in the area you would think the course that bears their name would be in great shape. Maybe it's the economy, but it seems like they could be doing a lot more to make this a 'premium' course.
Really beautiful landscape and the course was great, challenging yet fair, greens were true for the most part.
Only problem was lack of attention to our need to get food and drink while playing. The cart path design causes players to not use the clubhouse when making the turn (probably to speed up play), but we only saw the beverage cart once all day and it was early in the round. So too bad for them; we would have spent more money if they had more beverage carts!
Very Nice Course!
The course is in very good shape! The greens are coming back in nicely from recent aeration.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Totally agree with your comments. Bunkers are beyond poor, and you feel like you're on your own once you start. NO Marshall's, and they conveniently conceal if there is a tournament. A lot of the feedback ism starting to sound like this. The only way it'll get better, is if golfer's start going somewhere else.....
