Rating 74.5

Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club offers the traditional links course reminiscent of those found in the British Isles, situated amidst Virginia's horse country. The club gets its name from the land's former use, a raspberry field. The scenic terrain overlooks to Catoctin Mountains and there are still a few raspberry bushes dotting the course. By far the layout's most formidable challenges come from the deep, stacked pot bunkers that make it truly feel like a classic Scottish golf course. There are also water hazards on a few holes. The course's signature is the par-4 third hole, which is long but plays downhill all the way. The 10th hole, another par 4, is one of the toughest. The landing area is generous off the tee but there is a creek and pond to the left and fairway bunkers on the right.

Greens in good shape for early season..

Greens were in great shape...Although, golfers playing there should not be so lazy as to not fix their ball marks. How hard is it? Takes 20 seconds...

Fairways were nice as well...Good early season conditions...

A favorite course, early in the season, still coming in. Staff needs some attitude and customer service calibration.

I've played the course several times. Considering there was snow on the grounds two weeks ago, the tees and greens were in pretty good shape. The greens were sanded and bumpy, and the bunkers needed some work, which slowed things down for everyone. Regardless its early season and I would have rated them higher if not for the overly zealous marshal, who at 4 in the afternoon, suddenly invoked that if we weren't waiting in the fairway for the group in front of us, then we were too slow. This despite the fact that we had an open par 5 behind us, and people putting on the green of the short par 4 we were on. Three holes earlier he had stated we were in perfect position. We played in 4:38. Obviously marring an otherwise fine afternoon.

Gary Player, Gary Player

Gary Player's signature course. Some beautiful and memorable holes. The greens and fairways are well maintained even in winter. Yet it is not particularly a difficult or challenging course. It has a beautiful clubhouse, so it could be wonderful for corporate entertainment. It's not worth the retail high prices but was well-worth the GolfNow's special price of $20. Thank you, GolfNow.

I played when it was 35 degrees. It is one of the best public courses in NO. VA

The views from the 3rd tee are special. What I like is that none of the holes are anywhere near homes. It is the country club experience with a public price and the staff is grade A

Highly ranked, well deserved

I played in the middle of January so the course wasn't in the best shape which is to be expected but the layout was good and the surrounding were beautiful. Still a great course. One of Golf Magazines top public courses in VA.

Wow!

I played here last Nov. Had a very nice time. Course was in great shape. Greens were fast and true. The fastest that I have played in No Virginia. If I had to only play one course over and over this would be it.
Very nice track.

Best course in tri-state

I've been waiting to find a deal on golf now for this golf course and finally found one. It was well worth the wait. This course is the BEST in the tri state area that I've ever played, and I've played quite a few. Staff was FANTASTIC, I loved that range balls were provided and the practice facility was magnificent, greens are beautiful and roll amazing, fairways perfect, everything impeccable. Definitely in my top 5 courses I have EVER played and I will be back soon.

Always a nice course to play.

Gave it 4 stars because the bunkers needed more sand. I assume late in the season they were packed down due to weather condition lately. Do not recall this was an issue earlier in the season. Tee starts are always on time. Pace of play was great.

super natural vista and super conditions

I played this course second times.
impressed with a lot of features; groomed fairway and green condition. deep stack bunker and meandering bunker and natural rocks and wall. Those unique features are still luring me to play there.
I know why this course is the Player's signature design~

Very scenic and well conditioned.

Well maintained, friendly staff, will be remembered after playing but no Killions Red which is the only thing this course needs.

Raspberry Falls - fun and challenging and no 2 holes alike!

Played on 11/25/2012
Golf now tee time price of $35
Course was in great shape, greens were fast and tricky. No straight putts. Course is very pretty and wavy. Almost no flat lies to be found. Par 3 #12 is the best par 3 in the NOVA,/MD area.
Back 9 is 5 shots harder then the front 9 (or so it seemed)
Overall a great course to play,. If you like a challenge with great conditions and beautiful holes then this is the place to play.
