Carts
Every time we golf there, we get a cart that has break issues. Pace of play needs to be reviewed. When we made the turn from Magnolia to Dogwood (we were a foursome), we had a single and a double placed behind us. There was two threesomes ahead of us that were holding up play. There was no place to go.
Good layout - showing signs of neglect
We followed a bunch of extremely slow players so had plenty of time to notice details - very few ball washers, with some empty, some broken when present. Noticed a sprinkler controller disassembled with circuit boards and wires exposed to weather.
Golf carts are needing attention - loose belts, starter/generator not functioning well; equipment preventive maintenance not evident anywhere.
Course conditions have continually deteriorated over the past 3 years. Cart paths are breaking up in a number of places. There seems to be plenty of play, so why not put some of the revenue back into the course? Getting ready to sell? If not, should consider it.
Pro Shop attendant was more interested in price tags for merchandise being prepped for sale than me checking in.
Beverage cart person was courteous and upbeat.
Nice clubhouse, practice range, facilities.
The Course is Fair.
Most of the fairway grass was dead so we hit off dirt often. I did not like he greens at all. They had been sanded and colored. They were very fast and it seemed all were on an incline with poor pin placement. If the ball did not go in the cup it would keep rolling downhill. Pretty typical of a links course. Overall the course was in fair condition considering it was winter.
Good Course Muni Conditions
Greens not back from punching/sanding. Lots of areas in fairways with little or no grass. In short, winter conditions. Nice range, friendly staff, nice grill. Magnolia will test you with tight shots off tee. Greens have lots of slopes, contours. Look forward to playing it when there is grass.
Magnolia and Pines
I have played your course many times in the past.
I was very disappointed on this occasion and found
the course to be in "poor" shape. The greens had very little grass on them and were sanded over and sprayed to look green. I last played here in 2017 and the course then was immaculate. The course layout itself is of championship calibre and a pleasure to play. I met the owner on the occasion of my last visit in 2017 and I complimented him on everything about the course. I am afraid I cannot do it this time. PS The practice range had very little grass from which to hit. I did not see any maintenance people overseeding to get the grass up and growing again. Is this a budget problem?
Disappointed
Range was in terrible shape. Had to wait
On cart because apparently not
Enough for a Sunday crowd. Pace
Of
Play was terrible. There was a group of six on course. Groups had no golf etiquette. Kids playing in traps We where a group of three and nobody would let us go thru
Fairways where bear
And greens where all sand. My group has played there for years. It was the worst it
Has been since we played. No Marshall. Very Disappointed. The only good thing was the restaurant Sorry I never write reviews but I think they should be aware of
Problems
Worst greens
They were out of carts so i had to wait for 20 min until one becomes available. Greens were in terrible shape, sand over hard pan dirt is the best description. Bunkers need some sand, or raking at the minimum.
Nice course, very friendly staff
Winter conditions, but was still fun to play. My only detraction was the condition of the cart paths, borderline dangerous in a couple spots. Would definitely play again.
Course has great potential
Enjoyed the layout of the 3 nine hole courses. Will definitely be back to play in Late May or Sept. There was not much grass in the fairways or the greens. Pro-Shop staff was great and able to get us out onto the course. For Winter Golf it was priced right.
Course in horrible disrepair
This course must have been very nice when it was first built. Now, most tee boxes have no grass, all the bunkers are packed hard clay, some with standing water in them, the greens are all hard and horribly sandy. Cart path in bad shape, cart we had didn't even have a working parking brake.
Absolute shame and a huge embarrassment for that community.
Greens were all sand.
Not in good condition, like the layout, the greens were all sand, should be giving discounts for the conditions.
