Cowboys Golf Club
About
Definitely a must-play for the DFW-bound golfer, Cowboys Golf Club is first-class all the way, and fortunately void of the cheese that you might suspect from an NFL-themed course. In this location next to the Grapevine Municipal and the Lake Grapevine dam, Jeff Brauer created what might be his most impressive design. The design rolls through some impressively wild terrain that is loaded with every species of tree imaginable, creeks, 100-foot elevation changes, and thick habitat. Fingered bunkering gives the golf course a MacKenzie-like look, which goes well with the natural setting and traditional design. One of the better holes at Cowboys G.C. is no. 2, a skinny 376-yarder that plays over a creek and features a spectacularly difficult green that is bisected by a pesky ridge. Watch the pin placement here and keep the ball below the hole, or you'll end up with a 5-putt.

The Day Before The Cowboys Beat The Saints!!!
I normally don't write reviews about golf courses. The reason I am writing this one is simply due to the price and what you get for it. First off, the course is a GREAT course! However, the money they ask for it, is INSANE, for the "little" things that a course MUST make sure are in place. 1. Range Balls = Almost Bald and DIRTY! 2. My Cart = "Michael Irving" broken cart strap drivers side, luckily I was not riding with anyone. 3. Club Cleaner/Ball Cleaner = Needed Water, I used a "free" bottle of water to fill it up. 4. Overall Cleanliness of Cart = Seen better at municipal tracks! 5. Greens = GREAT! 6. Fairways = Incredible! 7. Bunkers = Real Sand! 8. Food = Awesome! 9. Staff = Great! 10. Outside Staff = 1 "Overworked" kid Ok, enough, you get the point. For the money, they have to tighten up on the "little" things that can make this course an INCREDIBLE experience. Most of their play is "out of towners" that are Cowboy fans or business folks. WE/THEY can do better than this for all to have a memorable experience! I hope to see changes on my next visit....
Course in great condition!
Was a great birthday gift to my husband; the attention & conveniences were far above any other local course provides!! Thank you!
Great service,course well maintained!
This was a great place to play and it started with great hospitality. All the staff were great, and the included food and beverage is a great perk. The course was maintained and groomed very well. The greens were good, and rolled true but could be a touch nicer.First time out and I'll definitely be going back, well worth the great day.
Great staff
Overall it was a very nice experience. Course was in very good shape. Greens are coming back nicely. The staff is one of the best I have encountered. I was wondering how they would treat me being a golfnow customer, some courses don't seem to like the golfnow customers. This wasn't the case. The staff was great. Added bonus of food and drinks being included. The only thing I would say is that if u pay full price or even close to it, it's not worth it. If u get a good golfnow deal then jump on it. I wouldn't pay over $75 for the course.
Cowboys Review
This is an excellent course and the VIP Package is well worth the money. The greens are in need of some work. The most recent aeration has not fully healed on many of the holes. The remainder of the course is in superb condition. I played on a holiday afternoon and was disappointed that the course was not set up for proper pace of play. The tee boxes were not set for the high wind speed and direction and most of the pin placements were on hillsides which leads to many 3 putts. I mention this only because they prescribe to the "Ready Golf" philosophy, yet they didn't set the course to match their own guidelines. I still recommend going and I will go back.
what I experienced
The facility was very nice and all the staff were eager to see to our needs from information, food drinks and rental equipment since my partner's clubs were lost by the airline.
The course itself was stunning and well mantained. The fairways were lush and the greens were fast. The only negative was that several tee boxes were in serious need of repairs.
I look forward to playing here again soon and would definitely reccommend it to a friend.
Hot! Challenging! Fun!
Had a great time even though we chose to play on one of the hottest days so far this summer!
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. The pace of play a bit too long under the heat conditions, but understandable. Thanks!
The ppl there are very friendly
The course was excellent. Not too challenging. The staff is awesome n the food is excellent. Will be going back again n will be using golfnow.com to book my tee times.
About Cowboys Golf Club
I feel this course is overpriced as I've played other facilities in the $75 range that have better greens. Even at $110 it's still over priced
Wonderful course. Great staff.
My favorite course in Dallas. Quiet location, well maintained and outstanding staff.
Greens & Tees Need Love
Great facility, fun & challenging course... However, for the money paid:
1) All carts' GPS units should work flawlessly (ours was broken)
2) All tee boxes should have a teeable grass surface - several were chewed-up, mangled, or just dirt
3) Either you need to sharpen the pin/hole placement tool or get someone who knows how to cut new hole placements, because EVERY SINGLE hole was mangled on 1/3-1/2 of the cup edge. This could only be a result of a poor quality cutting tool or a novice cutter.
Need more golf balls?
Found a great hot deal. Played by myself. Tee-boxes are good. Fairways and traps are perfect. Greens recovering nicely from being punched. Not as smooth as practice green. Great food and GPS. Challenging and fun holes with great character. Plenty of top brand golf balls in the trees to pick up while looking for your own! Awesome experience every golfer needs to have.
Best golf in Dallas -- by far
First off, I play Cowboys every week. I can tell you that this is the best golf in the MetroPlex bar none. Its rated #1 every year since it was built for a reason. From the golf staff, food, cart girls, and the end to end experience -- it's a must play. As others have posted, the greens in the early spring took a while to recover from an earlier aeration, but they are top notch now and you can expect them to get better thru the heat of a Dallas summer. For me, Cowboys has always delivered.
Its a tougher course for most, so pace of play is usually right on 4 hrs. 2 stops for the Jalapeno sausage add a few minutes as well. Also, check to see if there's an outing and work around that if possible. The once a year guys that come out for the annual church outing will add to the pace of play.
Always grab the bargains
Received an email from Cowboys at $79 for a round due to the greens having been aerated a couple of days earlier. Surprisingly the greens held incoming shots well and putted decently. As always the staff and food was excellent. I never pass on an opportunity to play CGC, particularly when a deal is out there. Even though I'm not a Cowboys football supporter I am a big fan of this club.
Immaculate
This course is in perfect shape. You get food and drinks included (non alch). Couldn't ask for better conditions. I'll be back asap.
Down, Set, Hike!
This course is the complete opposite of Tony Romo's playoff performance; Excellent! Yes, it does cost a bit more than any other course, but from tee to green this course was in fabulous condition and the food/beverage was outstanding. I will definitely be back to play.
Not a Cowboys' fan, but . . .
. . . I loved the golf course! I thought the piped in voices of Brad Sham and Babe Laufenberg calling Dallas football was a bit hokie, but other than that this course and this facility delivered on the promise. Really good course that offers something many public courses in this area don't - shot values. You don't just hit it, find it and hit it again at this place. I'll go again - hopefully soon.
AWESOME course!!!
This place ROCKS!!! Not only is the golf awesome, so is the food and staff!! Plus I hit a hole in one on three!!! Too bad they don't do anything for you if you hit one. The kid at the golf shop gave me a handshake and that was it!
Cowboy Golf
Overall it was a good experience. This was the third time I played here. Love the layout and the fairways were in great shape. The Greens were not as good as in the past. Maybe the rough Texas winter had something to do with that. Will definitely be back to play again.
