Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

A Good Find
I scrambled to make a last-minute tee time realizing I had some extra time and found Bear Creek, very close to DFW. I didn’t expect much but was happily surprised to find this course both in good shape and challenging. Even better I was paired up with a gentleman who turned out to be a delight to play with. The course was in good condition and well maintained with a friendly and attentive staff. For the money, I would rank this one high if you’re in DFW area, check it out.
Hog Damage
Not from the area, but was told by some local residence that this is a nice public golf course to play while in town. Course was great located directly next to the DFW airport but because of their close proximity to a federal facility they’re limited on how they can manage the out of control population because the golf course was absolutely ripped to shreds by the pigs digging for food. I played the east course and it was a mess.

Great course overall
The layout and conditions were great for the most part. Only course condition I found to be a problem was some sand traps had sand that was shallow or not enough sand on the bed. I ended up hitting rocks below the sand when found my self in one of the sand traps on front 9. Damaged my wedge slightly.

Par for the course here. Awful wait times on the back nine, expect to wait behind 3-4 groups and wait 20-25 mins per tee box.

Nice track
Played the West course and really enjoyed it. Great condition. Greens are quick and true. Forgiving fairways with lots of elevation changes. Got a little bottled up on the back but overall pace was good.
Great place to play
Fantastic course, even better staff. Only complaint was they had complimentary waters, but it was 104 degrees out and all the coolers were empty by the time we got to them.
