Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
About
Conveniently located adjacent to the DFW Airport, Bear Creek Golf Club serves up two Ted Robinson-designed, 18-hole masterpieces that are known for their stunning topography and outstanding greens. And with both golf courses playing around 6,700 yards from the tips, golfers can hit long irons and fairway woods off the tee to keep it in the fairway, which is mandatory for a good round on these tight courses. Bear Creek's West Course is demanding early, and is significantly more difficult on the front side. However, the back side opens up and allows some room for error, making this the track of choice for the high handicapper. Nos. 6 and 7 stand out on the demanding front. No. 6 requires a blind tee shot and an approach over water, and no. 7 might be the most difficult on the golf course: a 380-yard par 4 that plays into the wind and also involves water. The back side has the signature hole, the scenic 180-yard 17th, which plays along a lake.

Pace of play is a joke
Currently sitting on the 5th hole waiting to tee off with 3 groups in the fairway and it’s already been 1.5 hours since I teed off. Marshal was even joking before teeing off he’d be impressed if I made it to the 6th hole before sundown. I teed off at 2:50pm.
Not worth the money
Better ways to throw away 90 bucks and it not take 5.5hrs
Stuck behind 3 groups all waiting. Also the bunkers are about the same density as the fairways but no need to rake because you don’t leave any trace of being in them
Bear Creek always offers a challenge.
The course was in great shape and offered a lot of risk reward opportunities. The greens were fast and true. Putting at these speeds were challenging to the average golfer used to playing on slower greens. Be prepared to pay close attention to the amount of break.
Lots of elevation changes
Played the West Course from the silver tees, which on many boxes were only a few yards in front of the blues (which are not back tees). Love the hilly setting here, with many elevated tees. Fairways are really nice. They had applied some fine-textured treatment to the greens, which made them unpredictable and extra fast, so maybe wait a couple of weeks if you want best conditions. Overall good challenge.
Greens were inconsistent and range was closed
I would never pay full price for this course. In my opinion, this is a $60 green fee during prime time. If you can get it for that or less, play it. Otherwise, there are better courses out there.
Bad Day at Golf
Pace of play was terrible. Kids holding up our group all day. Marshall allowed us to play through them TWICE. Yes, I said TWICE. Go figure.
Marshalls
The course is in pretty good shape the amenities are nice but the Marshall's are very annoying every time I turned around there was sitting there watching us don't need that during my round supposed to be enjoyable especially at the rates there charging not be feel pressured on every shot I hit I won't be back.
Bad Pairing
The course was in decent shape. The greens had recently been aerated and sanded. So the greens were kind of slow.
My only complaint is with the staff and or starter. I was a single player ( 3 handicap ) who paid to ride.
I was paired up with 2 young boys 14 years old that were walking and not very good.
As any advanced golfer would say not the ideal playing conditions.
One of the best courses in Dallas!
Hands down, one of the best courses in Dallas. I’ve played both East and West, and both are challenging yet super fun. West offers blind yet rewarding tee shots, tight fairways and excellent greens. Highly recommended!
