Stonecreek Golf Club
About
The course is set on a 165-acre parcel off Hwy. 213 in Oregon City. Built at an estimated cost of $7.5 million, it features two distinct nines - the front half situated in a meadow-like setting and the back nine winding through towering Douglas fir trees and bordering wetlands. In addition to its namesake Stone Creek, the course has three lakes, four wetlands areas and 41 bunkers. There are four sets of tees, playing from 5,123 to the "Jacobsen" tees at 6,840 yards.
A full-service pro shop and deli are located in the clubhouse, which has a spacious outdoor deck overlooking the 18th green. Next to the clubhouse is a large tented area for private parties, tournament function, weddings and other catered events. An expansive 6 1/2-acre driving range with all grass tees and target greens serves as a convenient on-site practice area
Another unique aspect of Stone Creek Golf Club is the excellent drainage. Significant resources were expended to ensure the driest course conditions for year-round play. According to Golf Course Superintendent David Phipps, "At most courses in the Northwest during the winter months, the ball doesn't roll much, but here you'll see the ball actually bouncing down the fairway in January."
Two of the most scenic holes are par-3s. the 180-yd. No. 6 played over a lake from the Jacobsen tees, and the 141-yd. No. 14, which necessitates a drive over wetlands and consideration of a stack of boulders protecting the green. One of Peter Jacobsen's favorite holes is the par-4 ninth, a 397-yard challenge from the back tees with two fairways to choose from - an upper elevated landing area with a clear view of the green; or a lower approach through a narrow opening between bunkers.
After a round of golf, golfers can relax at the clubhouse with outdoor seating on a large deck overlooking the 18th green
With its large tented area for special events, Stone Creek Golf Club is a prime spot for hosting tournaments, weddings, corporate outings and other large groups.

Damp Good Fun
I enjoyed playing this course even though it began to rain quite a bit on the back nine. The greens had been punched, maybe two-three weeks ago, but they were rolling fairly well. The front is open and inviting; the back is narrower, more hilly, and more challenging.
I am visiting the Portland area and hope to get in one more round before I depart. Stone Creek will be at the top of my list.
Great Course!
I really love the Stone Creek course. I have a great time playing at this course every time! The grounds are very well kept and the views of Mt Hood are amazing!
My only issue of dissatisfaction is that this particular course "does not" honor our Military Vetetans or even current servicemen and women with discounted rates on any day, not even on Veterans Day or Memorial Day holidays. It's one of the only courses I've played at in which they have no discounted rates for our American Heroes. My desire and request is to see this change!
We are happy you enjoy playing the course and we appreciate your feedback that we will be taking it into consideration!
Nice, but
We traveled over from central Oregon to play the course for 2 successive days. The course is very nice and was an excellent value. There are some very difficult holes, some of the short par 3 holes will test any golfer. Course is maintained well and it gets a LOT of play as it is very popular. One word of warning: it does NOT drain well after a rain. It rained, I think, an inch the day before we got there. The course becomes extremely difficult to play at that point. Your drive can travel maybe 1 ft after it hits the ground. A fairway wood rolls maybe 3 ft? A 350 yd uphill par 4 plays like it is 420 yds (I'm not kidding)! So, excluding par 3's, it plays 400-500 yds longer. We played the next day in the wind, so it dried out some. Shot about 7 strokes better. Nice views and interesting. Just be aware of the weather.
Thanks for making the trip out to our course. We hope to see you back soon when the weather permits
Starter was very nice
I booked a single time, expecting to be paired up with others. This is my first time playing a "championship" course since re-starting golf, and I explained to the starter I was worried about keeping up with the pace of play. They were SO nice and let me follow the group I would have been paired with. I tried to keep up, but while I was making the time markers around the course, I quickly fell behind the group. There was no one behind me, so I was able to relax and enjoy. The starters really helped to make the experience very enjoyable. While I didn't play well, that had more to do with my 20+ years of no practice than anything else. The course was lovely and challenging, but not unfair. Lots of fairway length.
It's great to hear the starters were very helpful and you enjoyed your round. We hope you come back and practice your game more!
Great Value, excellent views
Definitely worth it. Lots of bunkers. Pace of play a little slow on the weekends.
Thanks for the great value, excellent views review!
Best draining course in area
Great value for the best draining course in Portland Metro area. Hard to believe it's a Muni. Staff, conditions and pace of play all great.
Thank you for the kind review
Excellent winter course
I enjoyed the play here. The winter conditions were excellent with firm fast greens and not too much mud out there. It plays longer than yardage indicates due to rolling hills. There's quite a range of difficulty on the holes with some being relatively easy and others are much more challenging. There's a good mix of water and trees, and homes are situated far off the course. The bunker placement around the greens make for some really tough approaches. I would play here again.
We hope to see you back again soon!
very good condition for the winter
The course was in very good shape for the winter with fast greens. Nice Sunny day, but very windy in the afternoon. Overall enjoyed the golf
5 hour round not ideal - did not see a marshall on the course during play. Not unusual for winter golf not having a marshall, but with the nice weather expected, would have hoped they were prepared to push people along. Wind may have contributed
Glad you played during a sunny day in the Winter months. Please email me directly offline about the pace of play at hayleyteetimes@outlook.com
Stone Creek is one of the best in Portland Area
Gorgeous course, A+ and surpassed it's reputation.
Thank you for the A+ rating!
Good Winter Golf Choice
Played in mid-January and found the conditions to be surprisingly good. No standing water on the fairways. Fairways were soft but not muddy. Greens were in great condition and downhill putts rolled out consistently.
The only drawback was that #11 green is under repair. There is a temporary "green" which was not really a green at all but just a spot in the fairway where they cut a hole. Also, some of the tee boxes were closed which resulted in white tees either being moved up or back on some holes.
These were minor inconveniences and did not take away from the enjoyment of the course. Twilight rates start at Noon in the winter, which means that a 12:43 tee time was only $22 to walk on Golf Now.
Beverage cart was available all day. Practice area was fully functional. You hit off mats on the driving range but distances are marked. Chipping green is very nice with practice bunker. Putting green is adjacent to #1 and #10 and matched up with the actual greens on the course.
Walked 18 holes in 4 hours and 10 minutes, so we finished before dark.
Good winter course
Course was in good shape as usual. Most areas are still firm. Some muddy areas near drainage sites but nothing to complain about.
Great shape for Thanksgiving golf...
Saw some rain, snow and sunshine.... all at the same time. Generally the course was in great shape... probably less than expected amount of water in the fairways, sand traps in rough but playable shape and the greens were in great shape... very impressive. Not much for a restaurant or pro shop but the staff was pretty good. Looking forward to the next trip back.
Stone Creek
Walked the blues (6525/71.4/127) in 4h, 15m on a Sunday afternoon prepaid Golf Now Hot Deal for $30. The weather was about perfect to play golf, low 80's with only a slight breeze. The greens were medium fast, FIRM and rolled very well. Easily some of the best greens I have putted on this golf season. The combination of medium fast and very FIRM was difficult to chip on, I must have had 5-6 chips or iron shots roll all the way to the opposite fringe. The fairways were generally lush & well maintained, as was the regular cut of rough. The native rough has been cut down, probably in anticipation of the upcoming rainy season. It was much less penal than any previous time I have played this course. The tees were lush and only the par three's had a decent amount of unfixed divots. The sand traps were good to very good, dark colored medium texture sand. However, they are much better to hit out of with a full iron on a fairway trap than to hit a soft shot out from around a green. Peter Jacobsen design, interesting course. The front nine is a more traditional golf course design. It's shorter, more wide open & easier in my opinion than the back nine. The back is more of a links style & is the longer & tighter of the two nines. Customer service was a ++, they got me off before my tee time and matched me up with 2 super nice guys. Very fun course that will challenge most players.
held up in the rain
Real good shape for mid to late November. Couple wet spots not many. Greens were great shape.
Enjoyable round of golf
Stone Creek is looking good for this time of the season. After just two weeks from having the greens punched they are coming back quickly. Still have about two weeks till they roll smoothly. Bunkers held some water pools. Had a great weather day and, as a single, played with some nice guys. Staff as always friendly and professional.
Best public winter course in the Portland area
Even after several days of heavy rain the course played great!
great course
Course is in great shape. Staff was amazing. The only drawback was the pace of play. Tournament before our round may have affected the pace
Wonderful Evening
The course was in great shape. The starter wisely started us off #10 to allow our pace to be unhindered. Eddie in the pro-shop is excellent. He is one of the best I have experienced. He was very friendly and helpful in an authentic way. We played 16 holes in 2.5 hours before darkness set in.
Great
Great course, great condition, especially for this time of year
Beautiful and Well Maintained. A pleasure to play.
Played this course as part of a buddies trip to Portland with my brothers. I cant say enough positive comments about Stone Creek. Course conditions were wonderful, the layout is challenging but fair and the pace of play was 4 hours exactly on a Sunday morning. In fact, I don't recall every waiting to hit a tee shot or waiting for a green to clear. It appears to me that the facility management is committed to providing an enjoyable golf experience to their guests. The price was a little more than I like to spend but I think it is a good value for the quality of this facility. I would play again.
We appreciate you visiting our course during your vacation!
