About

Holes 18
Type Public
Par 72
Length 6840 yards
Slope 133
Rating 73.2

The course is set on a 165-acre parcel off Hwy. 213 in Oregon City. Built at an estimated cost of $7.5 million, it features two distinct nines - the front half situated in a meadow-like setting and the back nine winding through towering Douglas fir trees and bordering wetlands. In addition to its namesake Stone Creek, the course has three lakes, four wetlands areas and 41 bunkers. There are four sets of tees, playing from 5,123 to the "Jacobsen" tees at 6,840 yards.

A full-service pro shop and deli are located in the clubhouse, which has a spacious outdoor deck overlooking the 18th green. Next to the clubhouse is a large tented area for private parties, tournament function, weddings and other catered events. An expansive 6 1/2-acre driving range with all grass tees and target greens serves as a convenient on-site practice area

Another unique aspect of Stone Creek Golf Club is the excellent drainage. Significant resources were expended to ensure the driest course conditions for year-round play. According to Golf Course Superintendent David Phipps, "At most courses in the Northwest during the winter months, the ball doesn't roll much, but here you'll see the ball actually bouncing down the fairway in January."

Two of the most scenic holes are par-3s. the 180-yd. No. 6 played over a lake from the Jacobsen tees, and the 141-yd. No. 14, which necessitates a drive over wetlands and consideration of a stack of boulders protecting the green. One of Peter Jacobsen's favorite holes is the par-4 ninth, a 397-yard challenge from the back tees with two fairways to choose from - an upper elevated landing area with a clear view of the green; or a lower approach through a narrow opening between bunkers.

After a round of golf, golfers can relax at the clubhouse with outdoor seating on a large deck overlooking the 18th green

With its large tented area for special events, Stone Creek Golf Club is a prime spot for hosting tournaments, weddings, corporate outings and other large groups.

This course drains poorly. Make sure its been dry for awhile before playing

The staff was friendly and helpful. The course interesting with short par 3's that require accuracy. We rented carts that were required to stay on the cart path. I think we walked more than we might have without the cart. The course was soggy, hence the car path requirement. The greens had been plugged and sanded 4 weeks earlier and still had some bounce to them. I would play this course again if I knew it was dry.

Best of both worlds

I play stone creek almost exclusively in the winter because it drains better than any other course in the area. The links style on the front 9 is great while the tighter back 9 with its tree lined fairways test your accuracy off the tee. The greens are always in great condition accept when they have been sanded.

Challenging with Ideal Risk-Reward

Stone Creek is a challenging course, and has many holes that require accuracy if one chooses to take the direct route to the green. The fairway bunkers are strategically placed so that accuracy off the tee is rewarded, and holes 12 through 15 have hazards that will severely penalize stray shots. We very much enjoyed the course and will play again.

Great course for the money

Stone Creek is a great course for the price. It is a bit of a haul from Portland to Oregon City, but is is definitely worth the trip.

Great Dry Open but Challenging Course

Fine day fair course - the greens were difficult to judge on downhill puts as the pace seemed a bit different on different greens. I enjoy the venue and the challenge and will return.

Great year round course

Stone Creek is one of the better winter courses. Drains well. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They even have someonr pick up all of the broken tees every morning., Course is well maintained. Always on the top of my list.

Nothing Special

Lay out was not good. Blind shots. Very deep bunkers. Greens are good. But I will not be back.

Great winter conditions

I Played Stonecreek on New Year's Day. It was my first time playing this course. I went there specifically because I had heard the condition are great all year and they were.

This course has great features

Every holes has a different challenge, like hole par 3 over the lake with deep wall bunkers guard the green, some holes tee off over the big water, some holes tee down hill in the small fairway with one side steep slope and the other hazard.

Great winter course

I play Stone Creek 6 to 8 times a year. I played on 12/17/13 in heavy fog and 35deg weather, Can't hold the course responsible for the weather but it does take a lot of the pleasure out of the game. The course was in great shape for winter, one of the best winter courses on the Portland area. The front 9 is a relatively easy layout with lots of sand to add some challenge to the holes. The back 9 uses the natural contours and trees to give all the challenge I need as a 10 handicap golfer. Several friends that are 20+ handicappers find it a little to much. I consider it one of the top 5 public courses in the Portland metro area.

Interesting course but some operational problems

This course layout is pretty interesting. However the day that I played it pace of play was fairly slow, including the starter sending out another group right in front of us on the 10th hole. Made us wait for 20 minutes for them.

There were also three or four temporary greens, one of which had the worst whole location I've ever seen right next to the rough in the fairway. There was also a part for which was turned to par 34 course maintenance. The greens were fairly bumpy, had not recovered from aeration which occurred 4 to 6 weeks before. None of this was mentioned by the course managing people when iBooks around or when they confirmed it. I think it's pretty unethical for a course to have that much maintenance going on without informing the golfers.

Nice course, good winter conditions

Staff was great except for the marshall, who hassled us for being 5 minutes over "target" even though we kept well-ahead of the group behind us.
