Stonecreek Golf Club
About
The course is set on a 165-acre parcel off Hwy. 213 in Oregon City. Built at an estimated cost of $7.5 million, it features two distinct nines - the front half situated in a meadow-like setting and the back nine winding through towering Douglas fir trees and bordering wetlands. In addition to its namesake Stone Creek, the course has three lakes, four wetlands areas and 41 bunkers. There are four sets of tees, playing from 5,123 to the "Jacobsen" tees at 6,840 yards.
A full-service pro shop and deli are located in the clubhouse, which has a spacious outdoor deck overlooking the 18th green. Next to the clubhouse is a large tented area for private parties, tournament function, weddings and other catered events. An expansive 6 1/2-acre driving range with all grass tees and target greens serves as a convenient on-site practice area
Another unique aspect of Stone Creek Golf Club is the excellent drainage. Significant resources were expended to ensure the driest course conditions for year-round play. According to Golf Course Superintendent David Phipps, "At most courses in the Northwest during the winter months, the ball doesn't roll much, but here you'll see the ball actually bouncing down the fairway in January."
Two of the most scenic holes are par-3s. the 180-yd. No. 6 played over a lake from the Jacobsen tees, and the 141-yd. No. 14, which necessitates a drive over wetlands and consideration of a stack of boulders protecting the green. One of Peter Jacobsen's favorite holes is the par-4 ninth, a 397-yard challenge from the back tees with two fairways to choose from - an upper elevated landing area with a clear view of the green; or a lower approach through a narrow opening between bunkers.
After a round of golf, golfers can relax at the clubhouse with outdoor seating on a large deck overlooking the 18th green
With its large tented area for special events, Stone Creek Golf Club is a prime spot for hosting tournaments, weddings, corporate outings and other large groups.

Best winter course in Portland and a great layout
Best winter course in Portland. One of my favorite layouts. If it weren't for holes 12 and 13 it would be #1. Just wish it was closer to my home in Sandy
Winter Round
This is the best winter course in the state. It has the best drainage and the greens are still pretty fast. The great thing about this course is that despite the amount of cold and rain we've had, not one ball plugged on or off the fairway.
Definitely a must play.
Wish we would have been able to play 18 holes!
Course in great condition! Staff needs to be a little more up front about frost delay information... Like only opening 9 holes before we drive 45 minutes!
Stone Creek
Played the blues (71.4/127/6525) and walked in 4H in VERY windy conditions. Got a great internet rate of $23 to walk mid-day. Today the conditions reminded me of a British Open, you had to take advantage of the downwind holes because the holes that were playing into a 25-30 mph wind were playing like a bear.
The greens were just aerated 10/1, but are healing nicely and rolled better than you would expect overall, bumpy because of the aeration, firm and medium fast. The fairways were generally lush and played very firm with a decent amount of divot damage. The rough close to the fairway is lush and generally mowed down, not really punitive. What was knee deep rough off the fairway had been mowed down in most placed and is more like ankle deep now. the tees were well maintained, lush with moderate divot damage on the par 3's. The traps were in excellent condition, freshly raked with very fine sand.
Customer service today was a plus, as is the layout.
Easily one of the top five courses in the Portland metro area.
I'm in a hurry to get ready for golf tomorrow but I'll say this is one of the best courses I've played in the metro area. Excellent fairways and greens. Well manicured and kept in great shape. Almost no standing water anywhere. This is important, considering we live in Oregon. Good value for the money.
The clubhouse and pro shop are a disappointment. Really small and they don't match the upscale feel of the golf course. Thankfully, it doesn't detract from the course itself.
Great course and well worth playing.
Quite Challenging Course
Course well maintained and adequate drainage provides for good for winter play conditions. Dissapointed that course did not honor special which included cart, drink and food. Only honored cart.
While the course is very playable the staff could be a bit more friendly and helpful.
Driest course in Portland Area
I love playing this course in the winter months because it is by far the driest track in the Portland area. Even in the winter, as long as it's not currently rain, you will get some nice roll and go home without looking like you just did a 5k Mudrun. And you can't argue with the Peter Jacobsen layout and design. Very challenging and just an overall great track.
Best winter course in the Portland area
Stone Creek is about the only place in the Portland area where the ball gets a bit of roll and doesn't plug in the winter time. The back nine is tougher and hillier than the front. Great staff. One negative is hole #14 is often a temporary green, yet they still charge thirty-nine bucks to play it on weekends, even in December.
Great play for the pay!
Great condition for the $$ Love the course and greens always in good condition.
Scoreable, has character, well maintained
A nice balance of hazards and various terrain. Open enough to score, yet will at times punish the errant shot. Walk ability score of 6.5 to 7 out of 10. 10 being un-walkable. beautiful scenery, good value for hot deal.
A great fun interesting track
The two nine are really different. The front nine demands that you score since it is relatively links like. The back none has a middle three holes that could be called agony alley but the last three holes allow you to get your score card back in shape.
Great Day - beautiful course and beautiful day- great friends
The course is in great shape. It has some holes that make you feel good about your game and then the next are very challenging. I know they can't control the weather - but ours was a perfect Fall day- This is a great course- easy drive from Portland or from Salem. Had drinks in the sun on the back deck after the round- the service was wonderful and enjoyable. Thank you for a Great Day.
Two distinctive nine holes
Front nine has a relatively easy start and chances for a good front nine score. Fairly open but not the most interesting holes. Back nine is more scenic, interesting, and also more difficult. The first par 3 on the back can play quite short but still not an easy hole, it's kind of a do or die hole with hazards short or long. A very pleasant course not overly difficult but you will still feel accomplishment if you shoot a good score.
One of my favorites
I've been coming to this course for many years and it is always fun to play at stone creek. Well maintained and it is fairly dry during the winter season as well.
One disappointing incident was at the first tee box last time I played. The starter forced to me to join the group ahead of the group I supposed to play with just because they were three some and I was single. I was 15 mins early for my tee time and I do not deserve to rush three holes to join them because of starter miss managing the tee box. I was very disappointed and upset for first few holes. For going forward, I wish they respect every individual's game. At least he can drive his cart to the second hole and advice them that there will be a single joining them so that they could be expecting me instead of me running to their tee box to ask to wait for me. This was very frustrating. Most of other staffs were very friendly and I was greeted.
Challenging but fair
This is a really nice course, with some difficult holes. Several options for tee boxes. Quite a few blind shots. Massive bunker complexes around the greens. The 14th is a great par three, when they're not using the temporary green. Unfortunately, they seem to use it a lot. Kinda makes 14 a throw-away hole.
Two Different Courses
I really like this course because it's like two courses in one. The front nine is open with plenty of opportunity to swing for the hills. The fairways are fast and the greens are elevated and run true. The back nine is much tighter and hilly, requiring more precise tee shots with blind landing areas.
The staff is friendly and they have course marshals at strategic spots to help keep things moving.
Thank you for the excellent review. Glad to hear you enjoy the layout of the course
