Designed by Rees Jones, Broad Run Golfer's Club boasts one of the best layouts in the area. The course sprawls across over 370 acres of rolling hills countryside. The dramatic elevations are definitely not something you would expect from a golf course that is conveniently situated so close to downtown Philadelphia. The elevated tees feel as though they're in the clouds and mature trees frame most of the holes. There are hazards lurking throughout the golf course including swampy marshlands and tall, dense grasses that are all just waiting to swallow errant shots. It is a challenging layout no doubt but it is made more player friendly with generous fairways and Jones was also light on the bunkering. One of the most difficult and scenic holes is the par-5 15th. This hole plays uphill, featuring a blind tee shot to a plateau green surrounded by trees.

Incredibly rude ranger

The course is great but the ranger ruins the round. Typical Saturday pace, short wait on almost all the tee boxes, but for some reason the ranger felt the need to scold us multiple times about pace of play seemingly unaware that the whole course was moving at the same pace. I guess he thought we should be hitting into the group ahead of us. Rest of the staff was great and most of them confirmed they’re aware of the problem with the ranger and have received multiple complaints. No idea why they haven’t fixed the problem if they’re aware of it, but definitely can’t recommend the course until it’s solved.

Greens Need Some Work

Overall the course was in decent shspe, but the most greens were beat up. Pace of play was slow, even with a ranger cruising around.

Magnificent Course

Very hard to beat the overall look and feel of this challenging course since it meanders through acres of virgin land. I think the course is built on something like 300 acres. I can't say enough about the course architecture. The holes for the most part spread out in front of you from the tee boxes so you can plan your attack. Views from many tee boxes are spectacular. Generally plenty of rom to drive but lots of trouble if you can't stay within the wide fairways they give you

The hole designs are awesome and varied. The fairways and tee boxes are first rate. The greens were not in great shape - nothing severe but the greens are not what you would expect on a course with such pristine tee boxes and fairways.

This is an expensive course compared to many others, but if you are a fan of great golf course design, this is a must play.

Beautiful & Challenging

We played 2 days after Hurricane Ida and the course was in good shape. ONly 2 holes were cart path only and a few bunkers with water. Amazing. We got on for $55, whioch for Broad Run is a bargain. IT's usually around $100/round which might be a little high. Make it $79 and $59 afternoon rates and fill those tee sheets.

Great course...highly recommended

I've played Broad Run for many years...about 2-3 times per year. It's always in great condition. Great scenic vistas. A lot of elevation changes. Be prepared to walk quite a bit, even when taking a cart, and there are steep hills from the cart path to wherever your ball is. Very challenging, but fair course. No hidden 'gotchas' where you think you hit a good shot only to find you got sucked into trouble. Over the years, the course conditions have been consistently very good. The greens are also consistent and run true. One of my favorite courses in the SE Pennsylvania area. The picture is nbr 4, but taken a ways back. The tee box is much further forward. Beautiful hole.

Day after heavy rain

First time playing and I wish I had chosen a different day to platy since I couldn't get the full flavor of this unique course. Bunkers were washed out from a deluge the previous night (and a couple days before that as well). And it was cart path only which made for a tough slog since the cart paths were often up steep slopes from the fairways and greens.

For the most part, the course is right in front of you, except when it isn't and, boy, does that make it tough. On most holes the contours draw balls into the hazards. And the course is a 10 on the scale of hilliness so in many cases a miss could really cost a player.

The greens were not as fast as the course's reputation and pricing would suggest, perhaps because of the rain and more growth than the course's super would typically allow. But I did appreciate that the green themselves weren't overly tilted or ridged, as scoring with good shots is definitely possible here, even with faster greens.

The uphill par 5s play far far longer than the card, particularly in conditions with little rollout or opposing breeze.

I will play this course again under better conditions and this time with knowledge of the layout so the handful of blind shots don't end up biting me.

Recently aerated greens but greens still rolled true. Hard rains overnight so greens were soft but course is in ideal condition. Wish weekend rates hadn’t been raised up so high post lockdown so could get some rounds in the on the weekend with other not so serious friends, but all in all still my favorite course around. Still beats Glen Mills in my opinion for public courses in West Chester.

Scenic glory

Amazing setting, incredible views. Not what it was when first built. Encroaching houses don’t kill the experience but oh what it could have been. Spectacular layout, not for walkers! Condition just good, mid summer burnouts in places, adequate but slowish greens. Fewer amenities, no cart refreshments, mid summer but no drinking water on course. Mid week pace of play very good,, overall worth the money and a beautiful course. Always has/had a terrible driving range, but better than none. The range should have been located where the first hole houses are.

Love having this course on my play list, just hope they can keep it up.

Absurdly Overpriced For Such Poor Course Conditions.

I've probably played this course close to 100 times since it opened, and besides summer 2005 when some greens were destroyed by very heavy rain, this course is in the worse condition I've ever seen. It is sadly a shell of what it once was. This course used to have pristine conditions - checkered fairways, fast and smooth greens, fluffy sand in the bunkers, grass on the tee boxes. Unfortunately the course conditions are not good at all considering the greens fees. No way is this place worth $110 per round. That price is absurd considering the conditions. In particular, the tee boxes are chewed up very badly. Some of them barely have any grass at all. The bunkers are even worse. I didn't see a single rake on the entire course. And some of the bunkers had hardly any sand in them at all. They were like playing off of cement. If this course is going to be in the shape of a beat up muni, then they should charge appropriately for it.

Great first time experience

Was the most scenic golf courses played in sometime. Could not get over how much ground the course takes up as you don't parallel any holes. Tests ALL parts of your game. Very courteous staff; welcome, bar and pro shop.

Not what it was years ago

I remember playing this course a few years ago when they had checkered fairways and gps in the carts, now they have neither. Great course but not for $79. I’d play here all day for $50. Sorry, but probably won’t be making the 1hr trip to play this course again unless they lower the price
