Downingtown Country Club

Played with my daughter, a new golfer, and a random twosome who were fantastic and a pleasure to play with. Course was slow paced, possibly a tournament mixed in with regular t times. There were clubs being thrown farther than balls were travelling. I replaced and repaired well over 30 ball marks on the green throughout the entire day, only a few of which were my own unfortunately. It felt like a shooting gallery, constantly dodging golf balls, one the other older playing partners actually got hit with a ball and not an acknowledgment from the group behind us. Rangers were present and driving around but were not keeping groups up to pace of play.

Course was in average condition with the cart paths and scatter areas in terrible condition.

Sand traps/hazards were in terrible condition often with no sand at all.

It was and could be I'm sure a very desirable course but it is misguided in saying this is a country club with these course conditions. It is an average public course outside of the Westchester area at best and way over priced.

Beautiful day, great pace, and friendly staff. The bunkers, greens, and fairways were in very good shape. Tee boxes bordered on messy. The cart paths are a mess with lots of ruts, holes and bumps. Fathers Day, so I can let most things pass given the important elements were good condition. The layout and diversity in the course is a positive so we will come again, but I won’t rush back.

Pace of play was dismally slow. Teed off at 12:20 and didn’t finish until after 5:30. Absolutely no attempt by a ranger to move things along. Course was in ok condition although several tees were extremely crowned to the point you had to choose whether to have an uphill or downhill lie. I’ve played here many times and have seen things deteriorate over the years. Unfortunate because I like the course but right now I don’t think the value is there.

Excellent new course, great conditions with a fun layout. Had tough pin placements, but was forgiving off the tee. The staff was very friendly.

Tees, fairways, roughs and greens are in superb condition. Cart paths not so much. Many were cracked or had potholes or the sides were crumbling and transition areas leaving the cart path to the course were potholed and many with deep ruts causing us to fly high off the cart seats.

Greens were fresh cut, great shape but fast

Tee boxes were a little rough and slopped. Hard to find a spot to put the tee in the ground because I didn't know where to stand

Was pleasantly surprised on how the course played. For the price it’s well kept and the staff is great!

I really like the layout and the scorecard changes to holes 11 and 13, 11 is now a par 5 and 13 a par 4, are welcome changes. Pace of play was good. My big complaint on this day was that the greens were slow, but I am not sure how long it has been since they were aerated. A smaller complaint is that the halfway snack house after the 11th hole was closed on an 81-degree day in April.

Arrived to my 2:50 tee time 10 minutes early to find out that they had already sent my group off without me, never called me to ask where I was or if I was still coming or anything like that. Then the angry guy manning the bag drop was barking orders at me to check in as if I had shown up half an hour late, didn’t even make it 20 ft before another guy started shouting at me to hurry up and check in, all the while a wedding group was blocking the only entrance to the pro shop for photos while I still had two angry old men shouting orders at me. I finally got fed up with angry employees treating me like dirt so I just picked up my back and went home. The place was packed like a madhouse and all the staff seemed like they hated their lives. I didn’t pay you money to show up EARLY and still get treated like crap. Never coming back to this country club ever again.
