About
Blue Heron Golf Course, formerly known as Carnation Golf Course, first opened in 1967 but underwent a major renovation, in addition to the name change, after it was bought in 2011. Located in the Snoqualmie Valley, the course would occasionally be overrun by the Snoqualmie River but thanks to improved drainage and irrigation features added in the renovation, the course is able to drain remarkably fast. At just a few yards shy of 6,000 yards, Blue Heron G.C. is on the shorter side but that is no indication of its level of difficulty. Golfers will face a variety of challenges including an abundance of bunkers strategically placed throughout. One of the toughest holes is the par-5 17th, which is a blind tee shot where a long iron might come in more handy than a driver.

Blue Heron Swamp Course
This place is literally a swamp. The course (fairways and greens included) is soaked even on a sunny day. When I finished this round, my putter even had mud on it. The mosquitoes were on par with what you'd expect in Alaska during the summer. You'd think with all the mud on this course that they'd provide balls and club washers at the tee boxes, but there were none to be found. We were able to cart the front nine (on paths only due to mud) but had to walk the back nine due to the terrible course conditions.
As far as play is concerned, it's pretty wide open and forgiving. If you aren't bothered everything else I've mentioned here, I guess it's a great place for a beginner - but I wouldn't pay more that $20 for a round here.
Save yourself some cash and go play Fall City or Mt. Si instead. This course is bad.

Don't pay online
I paid for 2 players online, arrived at the course in time to play, and was advised that the course was in an unplayable condition due to recent rain. That is something I understand. However, if the course is unplayable, the course should issue a rain check so it can be played another time. If you pay online, they will not offer any recourse whatsoever. Happy Father's Day... play somewhere else next time. (I have photos but the app will not let me load them)

Wet
The course was just too wet to play all 18 holes. Even the front 9 holes that we were only able to play. Was barely playable. After playing the front 9 I took a short lunch break. At that time a rain squall came in hard. Just unlucky that day . Most of the time it is playable.

Muddy mud mud
It was a perfect day for Golf with the sunshine out for at east the last couple of days, but there were puddles in many of the courses.
The ground was very wet, and each shot ended with my clubs getting muddy.

Rural course with lots of mother nature
I love playing the Heron, it was still wet and the rough was long but that should change in the next couple of weeks.Ig you enjoy golfing with lots of mother nature around this is the course for you, deer,coyotes,geese and yes blue herons. Give this course a shot in the summer months it gets firm and fast.

Hardly anyone on the course because of threat of rain
Suppose you can time the weather on the course. You can virtually have the course to yourself. The greens are firming up slightly, so you might want to take less club at some greens. The rain that was present was very slight. Most people were starting to show up after 3:00 PM

Weather is warming letting the ball travel better
I had to walk 18 holes to try to shake this last battle with Covid. About the 10th hole, I could feel my head get light. I thought to myself well I am by myself I am sure someone will find me out here. By the time I got to the 12th hole, my head was back to normal. Walking 18 may not have been a good idea at the time. I played well despite the two holes of head cloudiness. I did not come close to anyone that day. I checked in by the GolfNow app. The course is shaping up well for the end of this long cool spring season.

Great layout but….
Tee boxes were not lined up for success, super narrow tee off settings, trees get in the way , mud everywhere, ruff too high couldn’t find ball ,

Perfect sunny day
The pace of play was much better on a Wednesday. The sun came out, white puffy clouds were present it was 68 degrees. The fairways were mowed, but the greens on the front nine were not mowed yet. The back nine greens were mowed. the greens were soft, the staff was friendly.
I keep going back because it has found enough value to go back. I make this course my training grounds for the most part.

fun short course
This course is located in a nice surrounding and next to a river, not difficult but fun and reasonable rate. Friendly and helpful lady staff.

Decent course
Course was a bit wet bu to be expected this time of year, the greens where in really rough shape

As of March 12th it’s pretty much just unkept grass fields with unplayable greens. No difference between fairway, rough, and tee box. Staff are friendly and I dont like writing bad reviews, but I feel like I just got tricked out of my money. If you are going to spend $40-50 go somewhere else and pay the $5 more for a real golf experience. Hopefully it gets better as the season goes on. Been here a few times when it wasn’t horrible but these days it’s hard to justify paying for a course that hasn’t been mowed in weeks

The course layout is nice but the course is so wet that it was virtually unwalkable. I realize that the course probably plays better in the summer but I really did not enjoy sinking into the fairways with every step I took on the back nine. Hence why I rated the experience and value as low.
