Blue Heron Golf Course
About
Blue Heron Golf Course, formerly known as Carnation Golf Course, first opened in 1967 but underwent a major renovation, in addition to the name change, after it was bought in 2011. Located in the Snoqualmie Valley, the course would occasionally be overrun by the Snoqualmie River but thanks to improved drainage and irrigation features added in the renovation, the course is able to drain remarkably fast. At just a few yards shy of 6,000 yards, Blue Heron G.C. is on the shorter side but that is no indication of its level of difficulty. Golfers will face a variety of challenges including an abundance of bunkers strategically placed throughout. One of the toughest holes is the par-5 17th, which is a blind tee shot where a long iron might come in more handy than a driver.

First time playing this course, staff is very friendly, and the beef brisket sandwich is incredible,( I highly recommend). The course is very wet and muddy due to the Snoqualmie river over flow on to the course. I will play this course again in about a month or two.
Birthday round of golf
It was kind of a wet soggy day. It wasn't raining! Had to play the front 9 twice which is okay I like the front nine. Me and my cousin that I hadn't seen in awhile went out got right on had a wonderful afternoon. If you choose there are eight inch cups on the front side so for me the high handicapper I am they can be almost as difficult as the 4-inch Cubs but it's different and interesting the restaurant has wonderful food the staff could not be any. Thanks Bill Morgan
The Leaves of Fall
I will not play this course in the fall because of the many leaves all over the fairways. It was very easy to lose a ball which should have been in plain sight.
I had thin lies on most of the fairways I hit.
Fun Day!
Our 4some enjoyed the day. Owners improving the course throughout ... new cart paths, better maintenance of greens....fantastic club house with a yummmy happy hour...
One improvement would be getting a handle on the leaves. A bit too much time spent looking for our balls in the leaves... Use white balls and bring extras as you will need them
Enjoy the course and what it offers... will go back!
Good Course
I was told by another golfer that this course was not up to par and I should not consider. I had already paid the fee so I went. I thought the course was in very good shape. New cart paths on first 9. Greens and fairways were nice. Very different type course than for instance Mt Si. I think that the course has had lots of work done it recently. I would recommend it to anyone.
Love this course!
We teed off at 11 AM didn't wait on any of the tees. You could see it was starting to stack up as we were finishing around 2:30. The course is being improved and every time I play there are more improvements done making it even nicer to play. I would definitely recommend this course to friends! It's a little out-of-the-way to drive but beautiful surroundings.
would recommend
I like this course. Someone at Mt Si advised me that
they did not like this course and I don't know why unless they played in late afternoon when the mosquitos supposedly com out. I did not see any and left at 1pm. I liked the whole course and the greens and fairways were in very good shape.
1st time golfer at the Blue Heron
My first time golfing this course. Lots and lots of leaves on certain holes where trees were shedding leaves (kinda early for trees leave shedding but such is mother nature- you cannot control her that's for sure) so it was very easy to not find your ball.
Those yellow balls would have been perfect for the leaves so you wouldn't have to spend so much time picking up leaves to see where your ball is.
Ground very hard on tee offs for quite a few of the holes.
The 17th hole was my favorite hole. Overall a decent course as I'd give it a 7 out of 10 score. I live in Bothell so won't be coming to this course often but will tell others to play the course.
Seems the 19th hole is pretty popular with a nice patio overlooking the 1st and 18th hole (there was a good crowd of folks enjoying themselves) plus the restaurant is really nice looking.
Nice place
The course was super dry and firm mostly, but did have some muddy, swampy type areas, usually around the greens. My tee shot on one par 3 missed the green by about 5 feet to the left and ended up being buried about 3 inches underground in the muddy grass. But they are doing repairs, so it's getting better. Staff is always super friendly. On a busy day they have a starter, and that old guy's spiel is worth the price of admission alone.
Very enjoyable day at the Blue Heron
This was my first time but won't be my last. The layout is pretty level, with no great difference in elevation, which makes it a very walkable course. It is obvious they are working hard to improve the turf and still have a way to go, but it is still a very playable and enjoyable course. It is far removed from traffic so the experience is very enjoyable. Plus, the staff went out of their way to make our experience a very positive experience. Oh, they have a great selection of beers on tap too, so the 19th hole is well worth the visit.
Best conditions in 30 years
I've been playing this course for 30+ years and it's never played better! Ownership has listened to players and made the right upgrades; Greens are rolling good and true, rough has been cut down, but still challenging, paving of the paths has added increased value, and the fairways are tight and firm. Through it all, the staff has remained the friendliest in the Northwest! Great job, Guys!!
Pleasant day
Played Blue Heron for the first time. It's a nice course and was very quiet on a sunny Friday morning. Greens were in good condition with a few areas of repair. Course seems to hold ground water, so some shots had zero roll. Cart path is being paved, so improvements are coming.
Blue Heron - A good Value
Golf course was in very good condition and on several holes, improvements were being made. It was not crowded and pace of play was very good.
This course is improving based on the work being done
First timer from the East Coast, great value and decent layout, does not need to hit long, but needs to be accurate, the greens are good. There are some real great holes. A great place to hone your irons shots to the green
A Nice Little Course
Course is still on the "rough" side although there appears to be genuine efforts to improve it. The fairways are uneven with some poorly sodded areas. Greens are generally very good and quick. Staff is very friendly. All in all, a good course with lots of potential for growth. Interesting holes with lots of rough and water to hit over.
Testing track
Modest and peaceful. Front nine is the better of the two. Demanding course off the tee. Difficult collection of par 3s. Rough could come down to make it easier to find balls. Recovering from a prior bankruptcy, New ownership has invested in the clubhouse and food. The course needs work but they are on the right track
So-so course
First time here. Some of the sight lines off the tee are awful. Not only is the overgrowth excessive, but the fairway is not even visible on three holes. Heard from the course pro that there was a lot of flood damage in 2015 and they are trying to bring it back around. Greens were very good in spots, and lumpy with lots of bare spots in others. Seems like about half the course in under construction. Overall, a low to average experience, although all the staff was exceptional and really tried to make the day a good one.
Good course
Overall the course is laid out well and is fun to play. They need to finish upgrades/maintenance. Newly paved cart paths are nice, but they need to keep going. Most are still dirt with potholes. A couple tee boxes under construction.
Much improved - excellent value
In 8 months this course has transformed dramatically! Didn't think I'd be saying this, but my golfing buddy and I agreed - we're coming back asap.
A lotta bang for your buck
Course plays great, the setting is lovely. Staff is friendly and the roof bad patio is chillax. Ignore any old gripes about conditions. Book midday and drive against traffic - I'll be back again
