Blue Heron Golf Course
About
Blue Heron Golf Course, formerly known as Carnation Golf Course, first opened in 1967 but underwent a major renovation, in addition to the name change, after it was bought in 2011. Located in the Snoqualmie Valley, the course would occasionally be overrun by the Snoqualmie River but thanks to improved drainage and irrigation features added in the renovation, the course is able to drain remarkably fast. At just a few yards shy of 6,000 yards, Blue Heron G.C. is on the shorter side but that is no indication of its level of difficulty. Golfers will face a variety of challenges including an abundance of bunkers strategically placed throughout. One of the toughest holes is the par-5 17th, which is a blind tee shot where a long iron might come in more handy than a driver.

Good for the money
Can't beat a $22 round of golf. We got out mid day on Saturday and the round got pretty slow. Several rookies and younger kids out at that time of day.
The course was in pretty good shape and the club house is a great place to have a beer after your round.
Great course
Course is in great shape and definitely challenging. Great scenery make for a relaxing round.
Greens are in great shape.
we got a great rate package through Golfnow. The staff was extremely friendly, and we even got out early on the first tee. First time we've played the course since new ownership, and I have to say the greens are in great shape, and fast. Unfortunately that means I had several 3 putts. The pace of play was quick and we didn't have to wait. There are several very interesting holes on this course, over, or around the river. Oh, and they've trimmed the hedges and there is a great view of the river from a couple of teeboxes.
I made a hole in one!
So this is the revamped and much improved old Carnation course- which wasn't really a course. Now, they have added a very nice clubhouse with a large deck, and best if all really spent time on the course itself... And it shows. Yes I did actually have a hole in one on #15, but I would still be really happy. Our round was 3.5 hours, greens here are FAST, and fairways are pretty generous on most holes. The restaurant has some great food, although most of the staff is quite young and it shows. But it's a small town and I don't mind... Just know they are growing up! Really reasonable. Enjoy
Poor pace of play.
We had a young couple ahead of us that were taking forever. The young gentleman was also very partial to telling the F word at the top of his lungs while throwing his club across the course. We finally managed to pass them and were encountered by a group of 4 that you would think they were playing for a million dollars with how slow they were playing. I am very suprised there were no pros out and about.
It was 86 degrees out and did not see the beverage cart one time. This is the first course in which this was a problem. Not a deal breaker, however the pace of play needs to be enforced before I ever spend my money at this course again.
Course is really coming along
I have played this course for many years, it went through some tough times, but this year the course is really starting to shine. The new owners have been really taking good care of the fairways and greens are in great shape.
Course needs a little upkeep
Greens generally in good shape. Fairways less so. Lots of leaves left on the fairway and rough making it hard to find balls. Hole 11 fairway still growing in. Easy to walk and 0636 Tee-time on a Sunday made for good pace of play.
Worth the drive
I played the course for the first time in a tournament on 6/18 and enjoyed it so much that I made the 4O min drive back 2 days later to play it again because I wanted to play a solo around from the back tees..For $22 bucks I got a bucket of balls hitting from real grass at there range/ then walked 18. The course was wide open and I teed off at 845am on a beautiful day. Nice variety of dog leg L-R holes and greens. Nicely maintained...some chunky areas but above par for the average mini course.....Nice practice facility's / and the staff was very friendly...very easy course to walk as well...wish I lived a little closer....Restaurant Bar is very nice as well great food...Overall I would Highly recommend.
Improved
Much better under the new mgmt...........
..........
...
Relatively unchallenging with a few narrow driving windows.
Overall is was a pleasant round of golf. The fairways have some blemishes and there was quite a few (unmarked) greens under repair. Enjoyable, but probably wouldn't make the trip again. Felt overpriced for what if offers.
Blue Heron
Played for the first time since the remodel. Didn't see any difference in the course but it played just fine. Some of the greens had problems but where it was green the ball rolled great, true, and at a good pace. The fairways were better than I remembered and the ball bounced as expected (less one fairway on the back). Bring your straight game and leave your distance at home.
Alright course
This is an alright course. It has a very laid back atmosphere which is good for relaxing and enjoying the day. The course is a little spendy given the conditions. The fairways are decent, the greens were sickly on a few holes and the ruff was a bit long. Overall a good experience
Nice course for the $
We play twilights in most cases, which is great there, except the risk of having (extremely) slow players in front of you. Course improved a lot recently, especially the greens. Overall a great course for the buck!
Course has plenty of room
Huge grass driving range, really wide fairways on some holes. Some water but not too tricky.
My only complain was the greens. Some of them had patches of sand in the middle. Huge chunks of grass missing. Kind of disappointing. Also, the grass clippings were still on the ground everywhere so shots tended to die and I even lost a couple of balls that definitely landed in the fairway but I couldn't ever find them. I'd play it again though I had fun.
Course Is Much Improved
Compared to 2 weeks ago, the course conditions are 100% better. The fairways no longer have clumps of mowed grass on them and the greens are in excellent condition. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed playing this course. Be sure to eat in the restaurant. The food is very good to excellent. Not a snack bar, but rather a place to go for dinner even if you don't play a round.
Course needs some care
This is the former Carnation Golf Course. It is a fairly short and easy course made more challenging by the long rough and often poor conditions on the fairways and greens. A drive that rolls off the fairway even a foot can be VERY difficult to find and a challenge to hit. Several greens have ground under repair on them. Greens are very fast and don't hold on long approaches. Very few bunkers, but they were nice. Several holes have blind drives over large natural areas, so course knowledge would be a plus. I think the telling statement is you are not rewarded for a good shot on this course.
blue heron
The rough was quite deep. This may be due to long wet periods preventing mowing. The greens were fantastic. The course still plays a little wet thiugh they have put in lots of new drainage it is just enough to dry out some of the fairways.
The clubhouse is quite fine and the food is fantaetic.
Bad Conditions
The course was in bad condition. Due to recent rain the course was a big mud pit everywhere more or less. In fact, it was so bad the back 9 was not even open. However, this was not stated on GolfNow, only notified when we showed up. This course is going to need a long dry spell to really get dried out. Maybe during the summer it'll really be playable.
Great Value Course
New ownership has made and is continuing to make great improvements!
Lovely afternoon
Enjoyed a nice relaxed round. Spring golf but no cart restrictions.
