Blue Heron Golf Course
About
Blue Heron Golf Course, formerly known as Carnation Golf Course, first opened in 1967 but underwent a major renovation, in addition to the name change, after it was bought in 2011. Located in the Snoqualmie Valley, the course would occasionally be overrun by the Snoqualmie River but thanks to improved drainage and irrigation features added in the renovation, the course is able to drain remarkably fast. At just a few yards shy of 6,000 yards, Blue Heron G.C. is on the shorter side but that is no indication of its level of difficulty. Golfers will face a variety of challenges including an abundance of bunkers strategically placed throughout. One of the toughest holes is the par-5 17th, which is a blind tee shot where a long iron might come in more handy than a driver.

Course needs some care
This is the former Carnation Golf Course. It is a fairly short and easy course made more challenging by the long rough and often poor conditions on the fairways and greens. A drive that rolls off the fairway even a foot can be VERY difficult to find and a challenge to hit. Several greens have ground under repair on them. Greens are very fast and don't hold on long approaches. Very few bunkers, but they were nice. Several holes have blind drives over large natural areas, so course knowledge would be a plus. I think the telling statement is you are not rewarded for a good shot on this course.
blue heron
The rough was quite deep. This may be due to long wet periods preventing mowing. The greens were fantastic. The course still plays a little wet thiugh they have put in lots of new drainage it is just enough to dry out some of the fairways.
The clubhouse is quite fine and the food is fantaetic.
Bad Conditions
The course was in bad condition. Due to recent rain the course was a big mud pit everywhere more or less. In fact, it was so bad the back 9 was not even open. However, this was not stated on GolfNow, only notified when we showed up. This course is going to need a long dry spell to really get dried out. Maybe during the summer it'll really be playable.
Great Value Course
New ownership has made and is continuing to make great improvements!
Lovely afternoon
Enjoyed a nice relaxed round. Spring golf but no cart restrictions.
Improved Carnation Golf Course
Good value for inexpensive golf. New owners are cleaning up and making drainage improvements (of old Carnation Golf Course). Nature and wildlife in protected environment along Snoqualmie River. Easy walking course. Very nice new clubhouse and restaurant. No Pro Shop inventory. Long rough makes balls easy to hide. Greens slow and bumpy (recently aerified). Bring your own drinking water.
a bit damp in places, but pretty good day
3 of us played blue heron on Saturday morning. We had a group behind us, but never really felt pressured for pace, and by the 5th hole, we'd lost sight of them. Course was damp, but in decent shape. Would have been nice if they got the rest of the dead leaves out of the rough, it makes it hard to find your ball.
This is the first time I've played there since the change in owners a few years ago. The re-done restaurant was good (food was good, beer selection good, but the server we started with may have been in training still... ). I'd go back, it was a great value for a decent course.
