About
Blue Heron Golf Course, formerly known as Carnation Golf Course, first opened in 1967 but underwent a major renovation, in addition to the name change, after it was bought in 2011. Located in the Snoqualmie Valley, the course would occasionally be overrun by the Snoqualmie River but thanks to improved drainage and irrigation features added in the renovation, the course is able to drain remarkably fast. At just a few yards shy of 6,000 yards, Blue Heron G.C. is on the shorter side but that is no indication of its level of difficulty. Golfers will face a variety of challenges including an abundance of bunkers strategically placed throughout. One of the toughest holes is the par-5 17th, which is a blind tee shot where a long iron might come in more handy than a driver.

Good Value but Rough Condition: Bare spots in fairways & inconsistent greens but good
Friendly staff and the GN Hot Deal made this a palatable experience. Restaurant is closed on Mondays so rating is based on observation of a nice place and good menu. The green side bunker on #1 is awful: Full of weeds and set the tone for low expectations. Our cart battery died at the 2nd green but I called the pro shop before we went to putt and by the time we had putted out, employee was out to us with a new cart. Plenty of bare spots in the fairways and there was no continuity to the condition of the greens: Some were OK but most were unevenly cut or weed invaded and really had to hammer putts. Suspect the stimpmeter reading would be about 6 or 7, and tee boxes were in rough shape too. But as a 20+ handicap who plays lots of high-end courses, I would still recommend this to anyone looking for a good value. I played with my wife and she is still learning the game and doesn’t like a crowd or paying high prices for places beyond her ability. In short, given the same conditions and price point, we’ll be back.

No Power Carts and no pull carts
I have never shown up at a golf course and not been able to get a power cart or a pull cart. We canceled our round of golf with the pro shop and they were kind enough to give us a rain check but the fact that we drove there and had planned our day around golf, just to have that happen was shocking. If you need a power cart or pull cart, you might wanna call ahead before your round.

Even if this was a community club, maintenance is much needed. Cart was replaced due to out of battery and fuel twice. Weeds are all over the bunkers.

Not much course for the money
Course conditions were fairly poor unless you were plant paying $25 for the round. They seem to be totally understaffed. Greens were slow and soggy, kind of strange because it’s been really dry lately fairways were little rough and not much for amenities on the course. No chorus Marshall, and no cart person for beverages

Played on July 9th, haven't had much rain lately so the course is drying out and firming up. The greens are in nice shape though, they're being watered regularly. I may rate this place a little higher than most as I am "Heron Faithful." You don't have to be a bomber to play here but the course does require a variety of shots to score well. The grounds keeping staff have been working hard to care for the course and surrounding property. Some of the work will improve playability and some is more astetic. The grass of the fairways and rough may be different than other courses, it has more of a golf course in a public park feel. Get out and play,

Cart Shortage
The golf course was overall in decent shape except for some standing water on some of the greens and the sand traps needed some attention. What was really surprising was their shortage of golf carts which I was informed by the youth at the clubhouse, was normal. He told me that they were usually out of carts by 7:00AM. I noticed they had a storage building where they housed at least 2 dozen more golf carts which were inoperable for one reason or another. Would have been a different experience if they would have managed their cart repair a little better.

Limited golf carts!
They have been out of golf carts for a couple weeks now, due to mechanical issues. I would suggest to phone ahead to make sure they have one for you.

Bring your bug spray
I’m not expecting August national and I realize there’s nothing really that can be done about the mosquitos, but not a good course.
I lost my ball in the middle of the fairway/rough. The tee boxes are not well maintained and some of the greens are patchy.
The mosquitos absolutely SWARM you on hole 4. If you don’t have a few layers of bug spray on, you will be miserable for days.
The staff at the pro shop and restaurant are always friendly, along with the groundskeeper. I know they’re trying the best with what they have.
I understand they’re probably limited what they can do as the course is probably under water most of the time, but it’s not fun.

Way overpriced
This is genuinely the worst course I have ever played. There were only discernible fairways on maybe half of the par 4 and 5s. The rough was so long that we lost multiple golf balls that were just off from center. The tee boxes weren’t taken care of and some of the greens were in poor shape as well.
This would be fine, if the price was reasonable. $50 for a round at this course is absolute robbery. I would say a round at this course is worth about $20 max.
The staff was friendly but that’s about the only good thing that can be said
