About
Blue Heron Golf Course, formerly known as Carnation Golf Course, first opened in 1967 but underwent a major renovation, in addition to the name change, after it was bought in 2011. Located in the Snoqualmie Valley, the course would occasionally be overrun by the Snoqualmie River but thanks to improved drainage and irrigation features added in the renovation, the course is able to drain remarkably fast. At just a few yards shy of 6,000 yards, Blue Heron G.C. is on the shorter side but that is no indication of its level of difficulty. Golfers will face a variety of challenges including an abundance of bunkers strategically placed throughout. One of the toughest holes is the par-5 17th, which is a blind tee shot where a long iron might come in more handy than a driver.

Limited golf carts!
They have been out of golf carts for a couple weeks now, due to mechanical issues. I would suggest to phone ahead to make sure they have one for you.

Bring your bug spray
I’m not expecting August national and I realize there’s nothing really that can be done about the mosquitos, but not a good course.
I lost my ball in the middle of the fairway/rough. The tee boxes are not well maintained and some of the greens are patchy.
The mosquitos absolutely SWARM you on hole 4. If you don’t have a few layers of bug spray on, you will be miserable for days.
The staff at the pro shop and restaurant are always friendly, along with the groundskeeper. I know they’re trying the best with what they have.
I understand they’re probably limited what they can do as the course is probably under water most of the time, but it’s not fun.

Way overpriced
This is genuinely the worst course I have ever played. There were only discernible fairways on maybe half of the par 4 and 5s. The rough was so long that we lost multiple golf balls that were just off from center. The tee boxes weren’t taken care of and some of the greens were in poor shape as well.
This would be fine, if the price was reasonable. $50 for a round at this course is absolute robbery. I would say a round at this course is worth about $20 max.
The staff was friendly but that’s about the only good thing that can be said

18 at carnation
I’ve been playing this course for 35 years. It keeps getting better. Back in the day it was a fun low budget course but the winters just beat it up so bad that they couldn’t keep up. New owners with money came in and turned things around. A new clubhouse with a nice deck for outside seating and a restaurant that serves good food. The only issue is it’s location and the fact that not enough people come out to play. If there was a little more play revenue would increase and then they could mow and roll as needed. On Tuesday it was good but the greens and fairways needed more maintenance. Slow greens and longish fairways. Not pure but a fun track with nice views .

Course in terrible conditions
Tee boxes beat up, fairways and rough were uncut. Greens were in terrible condition, crabgrass on them with lots of holes on the green.

Better than last time
I’m going to say that this time was a better experience. Someone replied to my last review stating that I was being rude to the staffs, and it wasn’t me. The person replying to me wasn’t even have the courtesy to show the name. Don’t assume it because of the name.

Lovely Staff But This Course Needs Work
I've played Blue Heron 3 times, and while it's "passable", it's certainly not well kept. On most holes it's almost impossible to find your ball even on the fairway! They do not maintain the grass very well, there is always very thick grass. If you're not on the fairway, finding your ball is almost impossible. When it's wet you will not get your ball out of the rough. Pin placement on the greens is usually very frustrating, your putts will be very difficult with a lot of break.
The staff is so incredibly nice, it's a shame the course just isn't worth the frustration. Beautiful location with lovely scenery including wildlife. That being said, the frustration of looking for my ball for 10 minutes after every shot will keep me from going back.

Great place to learn how to golf
This continues to be a little gem of golf. Where you can practice all phases of the game. I teed off at 6:40 AM on a Sunday there was only one other person there to play. You can walk In Peace in the beautiful trees, fairways, and greens. This will be my main practice golf course to keep my swings in the best shape possible. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The fairways and rough are not always in the best condition, but the round of 18 will keep your mind and body exercised.

Wouldn’t go back
They charged my for a cart then told me they were out and never gave me one or a refund. The place was also so full of mosquitos that I had to leave after 9 holes. The greens were not maintained either it was like putting on the fringe. Would not recommend to anyone
