The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks is touted as the best mountain golf course in Colorado and even one of the best courses in the country. Towering forests of pine and aspen frame the rolling fairways and manicured greens on this scenic layout. The crystal clear creeks and trout-filled lakes are a striking contrast to the lush green of the course and the snow-capped peaks in the distance. The golf course is known for more than its scenery though, its challenging design is a test for all skill levels. The steep-faced bunkers have deeply furrowed edges, which can be tricky but they also serve to contain tee shots that might have an increased carry because of the course's dramatic elevations. There are also water hazards to contend with on several holes.

Awesome course; greens are rough

This is a gorgeous course. Everyone there is awesome. Pace was great. A lot of challenging holes. But the greens are not good. Pretty rough and choppy. Will be willing to give it a try again once the greens heal.

Course conditions

The course suffered some frost damage this winter and is still in recovery mode. Overpriced given the conditions. The holes themselves have character and surroundings beautiful. Course needs work I’m the bunkers as their condition not due to frost.

This course needs some fixing

They need to fix the drainage, almost every hole has spots that are under repair, soggy, and bunkers are not well kept.

Beautiful views and the course can be that much more amazing Nd to play if they fix some of these issues.

Quality course going through a rough spell

Mountain courses in Colorado are naturally pretty and lush in the warm months. But like every course, there are natural forces that affect it. In this case, they say a tough winter did some major damage to the greens and surrounding areas. Add the fact that the bunkers are not raked, cart paths getting rough and long fairway grass too wet to mow, and you get conditions that seem hard to justify a premium price. I am sure the members and local regulars are struggling with understanding natural elements as well as budget constraints. Either way, it is best to wait for things to get better or demand a reduced green fee. Best of luck to the Raven and I hope they recover.

Sad decline of a once great course

Over the years we have seen the decline of this great course. 2020 sees the greens as unputtable, the tee boxes hacked to pieces, and the fairways not fair at all. But worst of all is the staffs attitude that is is a premium course. Current conditions warrant half price only. They may be in bankruptcy but we should not have to suffer with out proper warning. The locals now play at keystone.

Raven at Three Peaks - Not as Advertised

Raven advertises them self as the best Mountain course in Colorado. This truly is not the case. The majority of the greens were in very bad shape and the fairways were just OK. The layout was great but just not in good condition. We didn't pay full price as we had a good deal through Golf Now as well as some vouchers which made it a very good deal for us. There is no way I would pay full price ($169) to play this course. As far as being the best mountain course in Colorado that truly is not the case.

In need of a fourth owner!

Lowering the price because management has abandoned maintenance isn't acceptable. I accepted all Summit County greens were damaged by weather conditions, but the bunkers haven't been raked this YEAR, what little sand there is. Tees were over watered, fairways and rough mown properly. Bunker edging and course perimeters abandoned. 20% of the bunkers have grass growing in them. The former course is so great that my son and I had a good time with a good match. The starter didn't give us the pin position of the day and the GPS doesn't have green view. Please make the necessary investments and bring this beautiful course back to the top tier.

Greens are in poor shape, rest of course is good

The greens have not recovered from winter. They are very Rough, not filled in fully and sloooow. Just not what I expect in July at this course. Is truly a fun course, just not this year. Skip it for 2020 and come back in 2021.

Bad greens conditions

We play this course every year, but this year was a big disappointment. the greens were very sandy and bumpy, something you would expect after first aeration. if i would have paid full price i would have been very upset. Pace of play was horrid, as it took us 5 1/2 hours, most tee boxes had 2 groups of golfers waiting to tee off.

Forget Putting!

Greens were terrible. Fairways were terrible. Bunkers were laughable. In the past, this course was a dream destination. Shame on them for charging money and not advising players of deplorable conditions.

Beautiful course but too much winter damage to the greens

Second time to play the course and the layout is fantastic. But this year, the course sustained serious damage to most of the greens. If we had paid full price, we would be demanding a reduction. We had been warned that winter damage was an issue and also assured that the pin placement accommodated this damage, but in the end, we almost always had to putt through sandy, bare spots. This significantly diminished our play. Hopefully next year, the greens will come back!

A little rough!

Given this is a mountain course during a pandemic and dealing with economic upheaval, this an average playing experience. Good service along with an efficient process, it is not a bad experience. Probably half of the greens are dry, bumpy, and not up to “par.” Some inconsistent fairways that are not atypical for mountain courses with a few showing drought. Sand traps vary from dry to weed infested and need attention, again not uncommon on average mountain set ups. The views are nice and the weather was perfect. A nice day and a positive experience on an average layout.

Give it time

This course is gorgeous. I’d recommend it to anyone. The layout is challenging and fun. The winter was rough this year, clubhouse officials said, and the course is still catching up. The greens are bumpy and bare in spots, but that didn’t spoil our day. The rain did though. Still worth the trip. The Raven will be back! My only criticisms: place the pins in areas where the greens aren’t so bare and make some efforts with the bunkers. Even though rakes aren’t allowed, minimal attention (once every few days) would make the experience more enjoyable.

Weeds, no grass and slow greens

By the 4th hole we were 10 minutes off pace, due to a foursome in front of us. Even with three carts their play was exceptionally slow. I called the pro shop to ask for a course marshall, we never saw anyone from the pro shop.

When golf courses are to specialize in growing grass, that hasn’t been communicated well to the Raven. There were huge spots of exposed dirt and sand on the greens. Most putts bounced around spending more time in the air than on the ground, due to the ball having to navigate sand then a grass tuft, on repeat. Tee boxes were very wet leaving it difficult to keep good footing. It was evident that the course hadn’t been mowed in a while.

Between pace of play and un-puttable greens, I did not enjoy my 5 hour round. The scenery and course layout are top knotch. In the end, that’s about all that one could enjoy.

Raven

Raven is a great layout and a challenging 18. The Greens were in horrible shape and this should have been said before you booked your round about course conditions. Once the greens are repaired to winter kill, It would be very challenging since the greens will be faster and in better condition.

Long and Challenging Course with lots of slope

We played from the championship tees that really challenged our long iron game. I’d recommend not playing tips unless you are a sub 80 player consistently. The course has lots of elevation change and sloping hills. A lot of fairways have steep grades in the landing zone which is a bit frustrating after hit a great drive.

Conditions were pretty bad. Lots of ground under repair and greens were just sanded. The greens were not rolled for the most part so it was like putting on shag carpet.

If course conditions were in better shape, it would be a pretty good course for the area. Keystone is in better shape and I recommend those courses over this one.
