The course have been improved
The place of play is still too slow.
3hrs for 9 holes is just too much, I quited after 9 holes.
There are few new tee boxes but they don't bother to water it. It is bone dry and you need a hammer to plug the tee into the ground[ It felt Iike winter golf again].
The green are getting better but it needs more work.
Overall, I am glad the new management put in the work to improve the course.
Course conditions
The course greens and fairways are in terrible conditions on half the holes. You don't want to pay for a course and have to experience greens you can't really play on.
If you're just looking to get out and swing your clubs and not keep score, then things a decent track.
close, but not close
Quick beef. Trying to make me share the cart i paid for with a random golfer. I understand economical...but im knocking knees with randos for 6 hours...
Did i mention the pace is slow
Also the rough is way too long
"Yeah, they need to cut it. Machine is broken"

Still on the way - improving.
On this visit, all tee boxes and all greens are now completely open. Conditions-wise, the rough is still VERY long, probably a bit too long. Fairways are decent. Bunkers were piles of sand under repair a few weeks ago, now the sand is down, though they can still use some work (and rakes!!) Greens were rolling very slow and they were fairly bumpy. Better than last year, better than a few weeks ago. Still needs work, but improving.
Overall, layout is fine, not particularly exciting. Most holes are fairly straight, a few blind shots. Beginner friendly for the most part - can get away with topping the ball and having it stay in play, and almost no forced carries.
good but. . .
The course was in the best shape its been in for a long time.
Still, the greens could use some more......green
Great Views of Throgs Neck Bridge
Love this old school course and the views of the Throgs Neck bridge. Wish the conditions were better, but still a solid NYC public.
A comeback in progress
5 stars not because it's truly 5 stars NOW, but because of how far it's come in the last year, and to help offset the years of really low reviews under prior management.
Clearview is a decent city course. In 2024, it came under new management. Back in 2023, I noted an overall poorly-maintained course. Bunkers were in bad shape, fairways were overgrown in many areas. This time, fairways were fairways. Greens are clearly being worked on. Bunkers are being redone. Crews were actively working on the course during the round.
Yes, a couple of greens (I recall two, maybe three today) have roped-off areas under repair. And yes, a handful of tee boxes are closed for repair. That's OK. I'll tolerate it right now because I know they're putting in the work, and I know what it was like before. For now, I was satisfied with what I saw.
Pitch and Putts Have Better Tee Boxes
Clearview Golf Course presents a laughable experience, with several holes lacking proper tee boxes, requiring players to tee off on uneven ground. The greens were recently aerated but are not adequately filled, affecting play quality. Additionally, some greens have portions flagged off, further complicating the putting experience. These conditions are not worth the money for the round.
