Good NY course
In better shape than most NY public courses, pace of play was a bit slow for an early Sunday morning round but liked the layout and greens were in very good shape and pretty fast.
Will go back for sure
Fairways & greens
Beautiful day at Clearview hit the ball fairly straight. Lost my game for 2.5 years also became sick. Friday I shot a 82 haven’t played that well in a while. The greens were. Nice. I lost my putter for 7 holes putted with my hybrid maybe I break 80 lol.
license and pay to park
I have played off season, no parking fees, and no drivers license required, now they are required. I had to run back to the parking lott for my license to access a golf cart. I missed hole 1 had to rush to hole 2 to catch up to the group.
The course was busy but great weather and a good gourp saved the day.
What Happened? KUDOS!
I played Clearview in an outing in early May and the course was in really rough shape. Aerification holes were still wide open and the greens looked like they were ripped up during the process. Fairways were patchy and tee boxes were God awful.
I live close to Clearview but usually play other courses because of the conditions.
Fast forward almost two months, a buddy of mine needed a spot for a fourth and called me up asking to join and said the round was already paid for. I figured why not, worst case I can pound back some beers. I was amazed at how much the conditions had improved since early May. The greens, while not lightning, we're true and rolled pretty well compared to what I'm used to playing on at Clearview. Overall the course had perked up, and while not perfect by any means, the difference is night and day. After my round, I went to to pro shop to return my key and complimented them on the conditions. The counterperson, who I can't remember their name, said that they have a new Superintendent. Maybe that's all this place needed; a fresh set of eyes. I've been coming to Clearview for about 15 years and it's always been up and down, but I hope the new staff can keep up the great work.
An added bonus, we played 18 holes in just over 4 hours on a weekend.
Staff inside the shop and in the bar are friendly as always.
I think I'll be returning to Clearview again as long as the conditions are maintained the way they are now.
Started liking it
I was very annoyed playing this course. It is flat, no surprises, open fairways. I prefered Douglaston and Forest park for the better and more challenging layout. But i played like 3 times this year and I started liking it. First, it is better maintained than the other Queens courses. Second, the staff is very friendly. Third - no delays. So, I recommend this course and will play it again.
Great day (weather) to be on course. Finished in 4 hours 10 minutes. Greens need some work. Employees I dealt with were courteous. Will gladly play again.
This course is used and abused
Course is in terrible condition. Fairway is either dirt or a swamp. One of the tee boxes was just sand and dirt, no grass. The greens are laughable. Impossible for putts to go straight because of all the divots and bumps. Will never play on a weekend again. Teed off at 7am, was done with the 3rd hole after 8. Need maintenance asap.
Balls flying everywhere
Usually enjoy playing here this last time was brutal 5 hour round, and a golf tournament or outing took place when we teed off at the 13th, people carts and balls all over the place. I’ll give it another chance but this was not the best day out
Super slow pace of play
Forget it if you think the ranger will speed up the pace of play! I waited on EVEY hole; One par 3 we waited 20min for 3 groups to play. And, you’re delusional if you think there a beverage cart! The course is decent but overpriced! The only way I would play there is with a Hot Deal. I would NOT recommend this course to anyone!
A Gem Of A Course in Queens
I was always skeptical of playing Clearview because of the price. As soon as I made it to the first tee I knew the price of a round was well worth it. A decently challenging course with great views from certain tees. I’m definitely going to play it again this summer. A great course in the heart of Queens NY
