Condition just ok
In New York City golf course?!!
It’s fine
All staffs very very kindly
I love it this course like a family
The putting green is too bad. I don't want to go again.
Dog Tracks!
You call this a golf course? It’s more like dog tracks! Weeds on patchy bumpy greens! Weeds in bunkers with disappearing sand! Tee boxes with overgrown weeds like goose pit! Someone please fire the management.
Poor Conditions, even at the start of the season
The tee boxes and greens were beat up and poorly maintained. There were quite literally chunks missing from many of the greens (although I will say the back 9 is much nicer than the front). Staff is friendly and it’s a cheap course, but the price is reflected in the conditions. Also, it took us 5.5 hours to finish because of how slow the pace of play was. Waiting on every single hole. It’s a good course if you want to have a laugh with some of your buddies, but would NOT recommend if you’re looking for a serious round of golf
Just as I Remember Lacking Character and Charm
I had not played Clearview in over 10 Years. I wish that I could say that I missed it. It is at best a marginal test. A par 70 with 12 par 4s that play largely in tree lined corridors up and back. I realize that the parcels terrain may have led to this routing but it lacks inspiration. Only one or two real doglegs No 6 and 12. And they run parallel across the property. There are also two par 3s, No 4 and 16 that run cross the property. The fairway corridors are spacious and it is good learning course. The greens were quite bumpy and a bit patchy. They were also rock hard and repelled even wedges. That could be due largely to the weather it has been dry but I am unsure. A redesign might be in order possibly using the pond near the Clubhouse could improve the layout. Also maybe some bunkering in the fairways and green side could add variety
Unacceptable
Believe all the negative reviews you read. And they can’t blame COVID. I play at Kissena, Forest Park, and Mariner Park and they all are better. Do $72 you get Greens that are bare and the ones that had grass were so bumpy. The tee boxes were no better. Course management should be fired with no exception. Or bring on new ownership. They should be ashamed to charge $ 72 for this course.
Play the other municipals. You won’t regret it.
Clearview golf
I had played this course years ago, and recently I read the really bad reviews post-COVID. I went in expecting very little and I think that helped. It’s early in the growing season so I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but other courses on LI don’t have the same issues. The greens are really patchy in some spots, but others are okay. Fairways are sort of the same story, some spots are patchy while others are okay. If you’re willing to roll the ball a bit you’ll be okay. I’m not sure what it will take for the course to bounce back, but with the traffic it sees it’ll be tough to see a bounce back coming. Pace of play was slow, we teed before 9 and it took about 5 hours, a little more, but it was a Saturday in NYC, I’m not sure that’s unexpected.
IT'S OK
Fairways are acceptable but greens are terrible. No work being done. Staff is not very friendly and your not permitted to ride alone without an exorbitant double fee. This is the only course in New York where this extra fee is required.
Bad bad bad
Terrible awful greens, nonexistent fairways, just butchered in general. If I had the choice to play here again or stay home I’d stay home.
Worth the Round and close to Homs.
The course was in good shape for this time of year and the pace was good.
Abysmal Condition Golf Course
I have played this golf course a number of times in the past and never experienced the dog-track that it has now turned into during my recent round in March 2021. The cratered fairways with no grass growth, the sanded tee boxes that were on slanted angles, and the greens that made you feel like you were on the moon should be an embarrassment to this city course. To charge the fee that it does, is not only a crime but a joke. If you are a better player, beware and play elsewhere. I found my self begging to get off of the course at the 9th hole. Not worth the time and money. Never again.
Gone Downhill
I've been playing this course for decades and always enjoyed this well laid out "Muni" I was shocked at how the course has deteriorated in the past few years and apologized repeatedly to my friends for booking the tee time. Never again until the quality is improved. Greens were horrible, fairways weedy, just a goat track now. Sad. What's going on in NYC???
Cow Pasture
They charge $72 for this course should be a felony. Nothing good to say at all except that if it were managed by anyone that cared any bit, it would be a good experience. Fairway to green, I've been to better dog parks. The fairways are atrocious the greens even worse. I expect this from anything managed by NYC, though.
