Extremely Slow
Was there on a Wednesday Afternoon at end of September. Grey and windy day.. Thought course would be quiet, they had a ton of online tee times available. I was mistaken, course was packed, took us 3 hours to play front 9. No organization during the round. Waited 10-15 mins at every tee box. Will never return !
A day out at Clearview
Not a bad golf course to play if you live in Queens and don't want to travel far to play. Course was in excellent condition and the greens were in good shape.
The only negative was a couple of tee boxes were poorly maintained.
slow pace
toomany people.. way to slow pace. lot of off grass area.
This corse great
Corse is nice view. Great.
I want go to again.
Slow.
The course conditions need improvement and are acceptable from tee to fairway. Greens are in good shape. The main problem is that rangers don't understand the authority they have to keep pace moving. Some groups were two holes behind. I guess they've just come to accept that this is what it is even though it could be fixed and improved. The layout isn't anything special for it to be worth going back to.
Sean mac
Nice course just not on Sunday mornings .when I got there at 7 30 for my 7 50 tee time they where already sending people out on back 9 backed up on first tee got off around 8 15 and it was a slow first 6 holes .very narrow fairways spent a lot of time waiting for golfers from other holes who had strayed on to our fairway to hit . It is a nice 70 par course just not on Sunday
Nice course but slow
Course is well maintained and has some challenging holes. Pace of play is too slow as my round lasted 5 hours and 15 minutes. Definitely one of the better public courses.
The pace of play was extremely slow.
Backed up with 2-3 foursomes on every hole. It took almost 6 hours to play. The course is nice but not worth the wait.
Sloooow Play
Arrived on time ,paid the parking fee 3 $. Checked in and proceeded to starter who paired me up with none English speaking players. Took three hours to play three holes, waited on every tee box. Some tee boxs were two groups ahead of our group. Round took five hours ten minutes to complete. Course was not scienic but was in good condition with some fast greens.
Slow play
I have played this course several times in the last year, but this last time the pace of play was dreadful. Over 5 hours and we were waiting on at least 12 holes. I saw 2 rangers but did not ever see them ask anyone to speed up the pace of play. For a city owned course it is in pretty good shape, but there are few amenties. Fairly straight holes, only 2 water holes. A few nice views of the Throgs Neck Bridge. There is a cart girl with beer on the weekends but that's about it. I play here because it is a midpoint for me and some buddies, but honestly for the price you pay to walk I can ride in most places I play on Long Island.
Clear View
They don't call it Clear view for nothing. If you are looking for some confidence on your tee shot, then this will help you see your flight path.
Perfect trifecta wkd....
Rain, Cinco del Mayo & Mother's Day wkd = 4.5HR unbelievable round!!!
Wide open course
We played on a rainy day, so the course was relatively empty and pace of play was good. This is a relatively open course with wide fairways and little trouble. This course won't overwhelm you.
need a ton of patience
would rather stay home, than to encounter another day of aggrevation
Arguably the most played course in the Northeast
With the amount of play this course gets, I'm very surprised conditions are as good as they are. Since every hole is straight with virtually no force carries (except for water on two par 3's) on holes, the course obviously gets a lot of play due to its convenient location and not for its design. Most of these players are for the golf crazed Koreans. I'm actually surprised they don't serve kimchee and other Korean food being it's so popular amongst Koreans. (I love Korean food).
Not exactly a must play course, just a convenient located course if you could manage a early tee time. If you try to walk up before this place opens, be prepared to find a legion of people waiting just like Bethpage in Long Island.
Boring Course - Not much variety
I had a 9:53 tee time with a friend; we got there early and they had us tee off at 9:40 which was a nice surprise.
Positives:
-The pace was not bad, not great but compared to other Forest Park it moved pretty well. I think we finished in 5 hours and we had no really long waits on any one hole.
-The course was in decent shape, no complaints.
-The people at the check-in, clubhouse, cart pickup and bar were all very nice. However we did get yelled at when we drove our golf cart out to the car to drop off our clubs which is obviously frowned on.
-on one par 3 they had a charity collecting donations for kids golf programs...donate $5 and if you hit the green you get a sleeve of balls. Get within 10 feet and win a free cart next round. It was a nice challenge and for a good cause.
-The burgers in the bar smelled fantastic when we stooped in at the turn!! we called in and ordered 2 from the 16th hole to enjoy at the end of our round (see below).
Negatives:
- they charge for parking and then don't let you drive out to your car to drop off your clubs
- one of the longer holes was shortened to a par 3 because it close to some homes outside the course. They plan on building a fence, but until they do, the hole is cut in half.
-the course layout is boring!!!! I don't think they had a single dog-leg on the whole course...everything was straight, straight, and ....(wait for it).....straight. I kept waiting for some variety and it never came. Very disappointing.
-Our burgers were not nearly as good as they smelled!! :)
They were not ready when we got there (waited almost 10 minutes) and they were over cooked. So disappointed.
Overall it was a good day. The pace was Ok, the course was in good shape and if you don't mind a simple, straight layout, then by all means, I would give this course a try. But if you like variety and more of a challenge, head to nearby Forest Park or out east to Bethpage where there are 5 courses with lots of variety.
the course was a pleasant surprise considering that it is a city-run golf course
I was very happy with the overall experience. The staff was friendly and happy to see us. The course is in great condition and has some very challenging holes.
A surprisingly quick round
The course was in good condition and it was a quick round. The only detractor was the 6th hole was chopped and made into a short par 3.
