Still Waiting!
Every Hole Waiting and Waiting...
Ranger should be out to Field to Controlled Slow Golfer!!!
Horrible experience
I paid 42 dollars for 18 holes and only played 9 because Clearview neglected to inform me that the had a golf outing taking place up until 5:30pm. I also paid for a golf cart but they wanted me to share with someone else. Very bad experience and not sure if I want to go back to Clearview.
Great Course, but golfnow messed up tee time
This golf course is great and respects it's patrons. Unfortunately, I tried to modify my foursome to a twosome on golfnow well before the 24 hour cancellation window and the website would not allow me to do so. Golfnow was unhelpful at all in trying to help me with the course. Thank goodness the golf pro at Clearview (Tony) allowed me to make the adjustment when he didn't have to. I used golfnow for a while now, but after this debacle, which wasn't the first time, I will not use them again.
Clearview - I would strongly recommend.
Better than expected
course seemed to be in good condition. fairly easy course for beginners. only negative is they charge for parking. only $3.00 but its the pricipality smokey.
Convienent local track in NYC
Probably the most played track in the northeast. On a Wednesday morning, we got to the tee box with a 20 minute delay because play was backed up. Overall it took 5 hours and 10 minutes to finish. Players state this is normal and the weekends is even worst. Rangers were out on the course but little can be done when the course is jammed everywhere.
Tee boxes and greens are beaten up just due to the sheer amount of play. To add to it, people are lazy to fix ball marks. Surprisingly fairways were decent considering the amount of play. When everyday is practically a weekend round, there is only so much course maintenance can be done.
Course is for the most part flat and very easy to walk. Design is a little boring because every hole is straight with no dog legs.
Definitely a convienent course for Queens local players. Not a course to travel from out of town to play except if somebody is curious to play one of the busiest tracks period.
Staff if average friendly and bartender inside the clubhouse is very good.
Poor pace of play
Need rangers on the course to spe d pace of play. Average time to play 18 holes has been about 5 1/2 to 6 hours
Great course
The course is very nice and well kept. The course is very good for beginners. I had a great time and the staff was pretty friendly.
Falling Apart
Haven't played in two years. Course is not in good shape at all. Dry, fairways rock hard, and some dirt teeboxes. Greens not in good shape. And now holes 6 and 8 have poles to avoid houses and cars getting hit, BUT teeboxes directly in line with poles. Just stupid.
Should be 10 min btw tee off
Does not matter what time your tee off is weekdays weekends, if you have 6 hours this is the place! Marshall do nothing here I know it's public course but if slow players ahead they should pick up the ball and force to go next hole, at $73 for Sunday and charges $3 for parking, I suggest go Bethpage or other Long Island courses, it's terrible organized club house, I would not recommend
Terrible
Read some good reviews and thought I should check it out. Without any weather issue, the tee times were behind 30-45 mins. Waited on every hole for 10-15 mins. Fairways were torn up, greens were like a 15 year olds face: ball marks everywhere. Their hardest hole was a straight par 4 but the only hard part was a net they built to cover half the fairway. Yardages were off, nobody tried to keep up pace of play. I think I even saw a group of 5 or 6 tee off. Can't be sure of it but wouldn't surprise me. If it was the only tee time in 100mile radius, I'd start learning tennis.
Average
The course is average at best. Greens in decent condition, fairways and tee boxes need some attention. Pace of play could be improved if rangers and starters are stricter. I saw a group of five followed by a twosome. Maybe the weekdays are better but I wouldn't play this course for the standard prices they charge. 5.5 hour round.
A good, solid, simple course
The course itself is nice and very straightforward and simple. All the holes are straight and wide, with many playing downhill. Not too many fairway bunkers. There is nothing very interesting about the layout or the greens but it is a nice course for a casual round, and in very good condition for an NYC muni. I played with an outing so I can't comment on pace of play but like all the NYC muni's I would guess it can get pretty backed up.
Ilike the course but the greens were not in the shape. Had patches and bumps. The fairways needed to be cut more so you did not get a good roll.
Layout of the course is nice they did have water on the course because it was a very hot day mid 90's.
Former Home Course
My Old home course, it was sad when I played it for the first time this year. I stopped playing it consistently the end of 2015, and last year played it only a few times. This year, once, this past weekend. It used to be in decent shape, or decent enough for a course that was played throughout the year and local to NYC. However, not its just in terrible shape. Fairways are poor, greens (though tightly mowed and faster than usual this last weekend) poor. Tee Boxes Poor. A par three with trees in the way of the shot, and no way to get it through. here really is no attempt at keeping this course in good shape, and honestly, there's a lot of people who play it. American Golf if keeping it as a cash cow, because they are putting NO money into fixing it, like a good, well run golf course does. Except of course, the net on 6 which completely prevents you from playing a tee shot. Lawsuits apparently motivate them.
If you play here you want a decent course that close and cheap. It's not worth it.
Got lucky
The pace of play on this course is pretty bad. But with spotty rain forecast and early tee time, was able to finish a round at a good pace. Greens really need work and fairways need to be patched up, but overall as long as pace is decent, its a good course for beginners.
Fairways very bare
You could hit a drive straight down the middle of the fairway and your ball could be lying on dirt not a divot but just dirt! One shouldn't be penalized for that. Also large round holes and uneven lies in the fairways. Need to be leveled off or filled in.
