Camillus Golf Club

Might be the last time this season here in CNY. Going to be cooler and wet. Jivi and his crew do a GREAT job with the course. New fluffy sand in the bunkers!!!!

So, I had read the reviews and wasn’t sure what to expect. I got to the course and it was a picture perfect fall morning. The gentleman working at the counter actually turned out t be the owner. He checked me in and said that the others I was supposed to play with had t checked in yet, and since I was a single, that o could go if I was ready. So I headed out and teed off. From the very first shot on the first tee. Yep things struck me. This was a very lush , very “ green” looking course. The dew was still on the fairways in spots and also in the shaded areas of the greens. The second thing I realized was just how hilly it was. On that note if you play, and I highly recommend that you do, stay BELOW the holes on the greens! It is not a long course, playing just 6500 ish from the tips, but it has teeth! If you’re out of position and can’t hit to the green to keep your ball under the hole ? You’ll be punished with a very difficult 2 putt! As a single digit handicap I found the course to be very fun. It’s got everything from downhill par fives where it’s bombs away off the tee, to a 200 ish yard par 3 that plays uphill to a sloping green.

It’s a very fair golf course and offers challenges to higher level golfers but is also very “ playable” by higher handicap players.

All in all, I was truly impressed with this little gem and left wishing I lived in the area as I absolutely would be a regular !

I will say that it would be a fantastic workout and you’d best be in decent shape if you want to walk it as there are some very hilly holes and slopes.

One last note, The three gentleman I fought up to on the second green who invited me to play along with them? Were an absolute delight equal to the delightfulness of the course. They were playing a skins game amongst themselves and offered expert advice on where to hit and putt as well as where not to.

Muni” in southeastern connecticut, it’s extremely rare to have so much fun and be welcomed so warmly by everyone especially as a first timer. I cannot say enough good things and the Camillus golf club !

The place was is better shape than I remember it. Greens were nice and decently fast. Fairways well cut. Tee's need to be rolled, lots of unlevel tees. For this time of year I was happy with the conditions.

Tee boxes are horrible, every one has a big hump through the middle making your tee shots like playing on the side of a hill. Few fairways had some bare spots and all of them were hard as a rock. I was whacked with a $24 fee for having my gf ride with me (didn’t play), so heads up if someone is riding along. Save your $ and play elsewhere.

Camillus CC is a scenic golf course with excellent playing conditions. The greens were great and the staff was friendly and helpful. I will definitely return to play again.

Camillius Country Club is one of my favorite courses because of the great course layout and it is always in very good condition. Also, the hills make it challenging for the better golfers.

This course is affordable. The greens are in great shape as is everything else. I think it is the nicest public course for miles.

Always LOVE playing Camillus, It is the absolute best conditioned public course in CNY. Greens are perfect , fairways manicured and the first hole is so tough. I like the many elevation changes and the shots required to play well. Restaurant and bar are also excellent. Staff is very friendly and cheerful and welcome you to the course.
